Getting out of the Russian fire line. Russians said that they will treat flying fighter jets from neighboring countries into Ukraine as declaring war. That's why the Polish gov doesn't want to do it directly from Polish air bases. They put USA in a bit awkward position with that offer. We'll see what happens next...
Off you go.
PLEASE READ MY RESPONSE @cnocbui
On The List: No reason to doubt thats the case. I have seen (and heard) evidence of that myself
Your hypothetical is shocking and horrid. In all honesty i consider myself a moral person. Any my heart would advocate that we intervene. I should point out however, that this has happened before.
And do you know what the west did!? ...... ZERO.............
Right now in North Korea there are ACTUAL CONCENTRATION CAMPS where lethal experiments are conducted on MEN, WOMEN, And CHILDREN (links at the bottom) - Do you know what the west done in reaction to these atrocities??? do i even need to tell you???? - thats right - ZERO
Listen - slag, jeer, bemoan me all you want. i am not lying to you. I am actually giving my honest opinion -
By all means take the moral high ground with me if you want. but understand it changes nothing. I am being honest with you. The west will do what it is currently doing. Which is A LOT - but not enough - but also, ALL THEY CAN -
and that wont change - and i am sorry if you dont like that. for the record neither do i.
But reality owes us no apology
I'm a bit surprised at this, as it was announced earlier like as if it was happening and it now looks like Poland didn't really consult with the US, yet seemed to think they were on board with it when they clearly hadn't agreed to anything.
I fully understand the sense of urgency, but they'd also want to be a little more careful to communicate through NATO and not the media on stuff like this.
What do you suggest we do when every two bit dictator in future invades wherever they want and gets away with it by making vague threats of nuclear weapons - precisely because Putin got away with it in 2022?
That's a world of tyranny.
The Migs may represent some sort of escalation tripwire communicated by the Kremlin via back channels. It's essentially a doubling in size of the Ukrainian fleet of Migs.
My instinct says f*ck it, fly them to Lviv and let rip, but obviously, Nato know more than we're getting.
This has been happening all through time. You can join the Ukrainian army if you're so angry about it.
When are off to take - just wondering who else is signing up with you?
I don't really see the logic of putting them through the US airforce. I mean, it's not like the Russians are not going to see them as Polish aircraft given to Ukraine. They aren't even paying any attention to the Geneva Convention, so I don't think they'll be too concerned about some complex change of national flags of ownership before flying them in. Poland would likely still come under pressure from Russia, so I mean you might as well just send them straight to Lviv and get NATO to back up the Polish air defence directly.
Everything is an act of war according to the Kremlin these days - except of course, the actual war that they started.
I believe they're not even collecting the bodies.
The U.S. and Japan have developed a missile defense system to counter the threat of North Korea. In November 2020, it successfully neutralised an ICBM in a test scenario.
You can skip the first 3 minutes of the video and watch the animation of how the system works.
While I know it's not called after him, Orwell Road is a perfectly apt address. Everything about the Russian approach is newspeak, double speak, deflection, lies, propaganda, gaslighting and utter hypocrisy - up is down, left is right, green is pink ... everyone else is wrong except themselves.
Makes everyone look stupid this does. Announcements, or seemingly announcements, then rowbacks or abandoning of the proposal by the US.
You'd wonder where all this is coming from.
In terms of precedent there is no real way the Russians can object. Plenty of cold war arms trade precendents - To be honest this looks like yet another U Turn
Smells to me like US political machinations. and back peddling - Perhaps some US Reps decided they needed to sign off on this - or felt they were entitled to
The above are only 4 headlines - which dont add up at all
I agree with you BTW - i would send them asap
Maybe the idea is the gauge a reaction, at least one would hope. In these situations it’s important to signal intent before doing something.
That's not much of a response. When posters resort to glib Ewan MacKenna style smirking soundbytes it's an automatic admission of having lost the argument.
Or she's just concerned what a Russian armed forces unit might do in or at a biological research facility considering they've already opened fire at or near a nuclear facility. A biological research facility is likely to have various contagions in storage which nobody would like to see released into the wild because of an errant shell.
Or there's concern about Russia using it to stage a false flag operation of some description; or all of the above.
My sense has always been that elements within the Polish military (and society at large tbf) want to throw everything they have at Russia by proxy, but there are moderating voices within the political system that want as few Polish fingerprints on things as possible in case they're the country that draws a Russian response.
And, there's highly likely still an open line between US and Russian intelligence agencies. My sense also is that the Russian agencies are briefing the US on what actions will or won't convince Putin to let the phony war with Nato go hot.
I think there might be some logic in that. If other countries with Mig29 donate they as the Polish gov is asking Russia would have to blame the USA or Germany (location of the air base). Or blame all countries that did it. Anyway, looks like its not going to fly (sorry, bad joke).
Just when i started to warm to (some) tories
They came out with 35 different "explanations" for the Skripal poisoning.
Lying is a Russian national obsession. A nation of liars.
So that's a no so.
Even more when they shot down flight MH17 over ukraine
Interestingly this didn't seem to concern the Ukrainian President today. He quoted Shakespeare and Churchill in his speech to the House of Commons.
Patel is a sh*tbag. The daughter of Asian parents expelled from Uganda by a tyrant pulling up the drawbridge on refugees.
From what the Pentagon are saying, it looks like the plan will have to be scrapped - they are saying they are not okay with the idea of the planes flying from a US airbase in Germany straight into a warzone.
Or create a massive black market opportunity.
Agreed 100% - Careerist too - The Spitting Image caricature was apt -
Gove: 'she says things we want to say, but could never get away with'
It looks like Poland aren't willing to "make the first move" and test Russia's resolve; so they pushed the responsibility over to the US. Now the US is the bogeyman for not following through; but they can use the old "US can't get involved directly in action against Russia" excuse.
Or maybe the whole thing is a tightly choreographed play to test how Putin and Russia react; who knows.
Pretty disappointing all the same; I imagine the Ukrainians will be having all kinds of feelings over this.
