What peace deals bro
Do you mean the source for the map I provided? It's widely acknowledged that Russia's military progress has been slowing. As mentioned, maybe there'll be a dramatic change in tactics or fortunes, but for now their forces are sustaining heavy losses (nearly at a 1,000 tanks, vehicles, helicopters and fixed wing aircraft lost)
Donbas is something like Northern Ireland on steroids. There were never miles of trenches and shelling of civilian areas at any point during the troubles; but it was a daily reality in the region over the past 7-8 years.
Hard to know what their real thoughts on ceding that region to Russia might be.
He'll simply make walking out of work a prison sentence. Wont have enough room or money for regular jails. Gulags ahoy! People become monsters by increments.
It reminds me of the time I and a few friends went into the famous McDonaghs in Galway for some fish and chips after a rake of pints. One of our party works in marine conservation and is pretty precious about sustainability (fair enough but there's a time and a place).
Anyway, we all order and it's down to our hero to complete the simple transactional side of things. He hems and haws, and then asks the young lady behind the counter:
"excuse me....but I have to ask....where does the cod come from?"
she threw him the most withering of glares and delivered the killer riposte: "the fcuking sea, where do ya think?"
The rest of us nearly had to be resuscitated we were laughing so hard. I imagine the same response being delivered in response to the petrol station query.
They would be pretty much be a pariah state if they went down that road.
As it stands, I could see them have sanctions lifted pretty sharpish if they conclude a peace deal this week. Drop a tactical nuke and it would be politically toxic to even go into business with them.
Protesters now face years in prison, so Putin is shutting down that route, will be much harder for any anti-war protests to reach critical mass. However there was a massive walkout of a plant in Russia yesterday due to wage issues over roubles, the reality of economic hardship is a little harder for the state to control. Their economic situation is only worsening.
Sure that's nothing. I was in the strip club last night and I asked Svetlana where the oil came from that she was using to oil up her boobs. When she couldn't tell me, I had to take all my dollar bills back out of her g-string.
Take that Putin
China has embraced Putin’s version of the war. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/04/business/china-russia-ukraine-disinformation.html
Any deal that doesnt guarantee Ukraine (maybe a smaller one) security isnt a peace deal it will just be a truce until Russia is ready to get what it wants which is a Ukranian satellite. And thats not a deal for Ukraine thats surrender.
Why oh why do you remind me of someone ???
Did I ever say that Iran were good?
I am just trying to play down the cr** that they are the worst evil in the Middle East, as per US and Britain.
As Wibbs pointed out they kicked out the West's puppet who was installed in the first place to guarantee oil supplies and installed a fruit cake religious nutjob that wouldn't play ball.
I really do blame Iran for setting the tone for the religious loons to take over and start making decisions based on religion.
In my opinion, the friends of the West i.e. Saudis, Qataris, Emirati are far more dangerous for our well being.
Anyway this has nothing to do with Russia invading Ukraine.
I think the more reasonable fear of nuclear escalation is not that Russia would for some unknown reason fire nukes at the US; it's that they might use smaller tactical nuclear ordinance in Ukraine for both military and/or strategic effect.
In that case I still can't see NATO or the West doing anything because well where do you go at that point?
You're really into this war continuing for some reason. Maybe it's the entertainment factor, but you consistently come out against peace deals, ceasefires or any of that sort of stuff. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Irish reach a peace deal?
Source?.trust me bro
Why cross your fingers at the idea of Russia breaking up ukraine ,in 12 months time putin will want another piece ,
But ..
Go team Russia yeah
It's been a failed smash and grab and the Russians are floundering. Hard to know what Zelenskiy should do. I think Vlad will regroup and come back at them again using other methods in time. You can't trust Putin and they know it.
We shouldn't forget this time in the west. Something has to be done about the mad lunatic in Moscow.
Looks like a certain revolution now in Russia. No Vaseline or McDonalds, they will be rioting soon enough.
That's the problem, when they move forward they stretch themselves thin, because there isn't a frontline as such, they are using roads and arteries, which makes them vulnerable to attack from all sides (which is where the Ukrainian strength currently lies, infantry armed with anti-tank weaponry)
It may still happen, fingers crossed.
His biggest domestic concern is that the people back home don't start acting really bolshy in larger numbers. Sanctions have only been going a couple of weeks and it's hard at present to imagine any end to them for quite some time.
You are assuming that the deal allows Ukraine to join EU, doesnt give a fake Russian region or minority a veto and doesnt let Russia reinvade a neutered Ukraine in a few years. Needs legally binding obligation on EU military powers or NATO to intervene in such scenario unlike the 1994 one even if NATO forces cant be based there.
I'm sure the till operators know the intimate operations of multinational corporation that controls the franchise that the local owner and their immediate manager work for 🙄
Where does Ireland get its petrol? Mostly from the UK, followed by Sweden, Norway and USA. Russia doesn't really feature. http://ireland2050.ie/present/oil-and-gas/?q=where-does-our-oil-supply-come-from-how-is-it-imported-or-moved-around-the-country
He hasn't made any statements, it's all 'sources'.

I think so. It would consolidate Ukraine as a state which would then see huge investment pour in for rebuilding etc. I'd imagine if they join the EU and with new investment, the new Ukraine will flourish and the Russian regions will look on and wish they were part of that.
Source?
Have you spoken to him
Based on how well the Russian equipment appears to working I'm not sure that's necessarily a good thing. Although I suppose technically much of Ukraine's equipment is more or less the same sort of gear.
One downside and something I haven't really seen in this thread is that certain amounts of NATO gear and vehicles have also been captured by the Russians; so they have their own Javelins, NLAWs etc.
Because there is no deal only occupation
Putin is talking out of his bottom. He's desperate for a way out after making the biggest mistake of his life. Everything he hoped his invasion would achieve has not materialised, in fact, the opposite has happened.
Putin is now finished. He is over and done for.
How he goes out though will be very interesting.
Zelensky is thinking about it.
