He had a certain fan base here and some weren't gone on him.
He disappeared very fast last year and now he's about to sue Twitter.
To be honest I've never heard of him , why is he suing Twitter? He took unscheduled leave. Is that legal speak for saying he went on a binge ?
Neither McDermott or Twitter will want to see the inside of a court. It's very expensive and there's no guarantee of a victory for each side. And sometimes a victory isn't actually a victory if the other side doesn't have the funds to pay any settlement/costs awarded.
Of the two parties in this case, Twitter can afford to lose. They can afford a settlement figure and costs. I'm not so sure about McDermott being able to afford a loss. He might get a small nuisance settlement to save Twitter the inconvenience of going to court (unfortunately it's often cheaper to settle than fight) but I'd expect a non-disclosure agreement to go with any settlement in those circumstances.
May find it weird? Why are so many here being so lenient on McDermott? He acted like a complete scumbag. Is that hard for some to admit and if so, why is that so difficult?
More incel talk. #Neverbelieveher
You don't have an issue with a 27 year old man messaging a 16 year old child and forming a relationship with her?
Id imagine though a settlement could open the flood gates. Twitter wont want that.
The only knowledge we have about her age is that she was 17 or over at the time she said they had a relationship.
There is zero evidence that he was messaging a 16 year old.

This is the thread that just keeps on giving.
Did you manage to find which part of the solicitors letter stated she was lying yet? Thought not.
Why he and his people didnt put those allegations to bed is anyones guess. Madness.
What type of cases?
What do you think happened here?
The only 'case' is that a woman posted lies in social media which she later retracted. I'm your mind you seem to think there is something else going on, there isn't any other 'case'
No, he wasn't a teacher when they had a relationship. You're now posting lies.
What lies?
That's not the issue at all. The issue is someone posting statements about a man, which they know to be false, in social media.
trial by social media is not right, fair or legal.
Read the post again, slowly if you need to.
So you have no issue with 27 year old men preying on school children?
No need to thanks. He was not a teacher when he had the relationship, no matter how much you try to insinuate otherwise
He was a teacher. 100% fact unless you've turned your back on McDermott and you're calling him a liar as well?
I would absolutely have an issue with any man preying on schoolchildren.
He may have worked as a teacher once. Not when he was in this relationship however.
By that reckoning I am a burgerking worker🙄
Great, took you long enough to admit to that. Glad we are in agreement. Let's hope McDermott doesn't do it again.
So it wasn't a lie then.
are you stating as fact that McDermott 'preyed on schoolchildren '?
Why are you continuing to engage? Never argue with a idiot, they will pull you down to their level and beat you with experience.
You are suggesting that McDermott 'preyed on schoolchildren ' that has nothing to do with any 'case ' the 'case' is a woman posting things on social media that were not true. That's the only case.
Unless you have some information that suggests McDermott 'preyed on schoolchildren '?
True. Can't believe boards are allowing her to post those things!
Yes, MAY find it weird.
I personally find it weird but it's not a crime.
Nothing weird about it. Two people with a mutual attraction were in a relationship, which was not illegal.
Why is this such a sore point for some people here?
You can't also say for certain that the scope will be limited. It's open to the defence to use every and any lawful tactic to defend the case so they might pry into the details of the relationship
The scope will be limited by the nature of the grievance, this will be done by the Judge ultimately.
If it is limited to the failure of Twitter to remove the tweet in a timely manner which is required under current legal directives it may not even get to the jury.
The varsity of the claims are moot as it's not something Twitter can themselves verify, the chances that a High Court Judge would even allow them to is pretty much nil.
Of course either side can call any witness they wish even in a civil trial, but again it's up to the court to compel them.
Hopefully it does go to full litigation, I doubt it though.
