I keep seeing this whole state of mind business. I don't think he's crazy or lost it. He's just surrounded himself with sycophants who are either vying for more power or just **** scared of telling him bad news.
The FSB would have done some research and modelling into what a full scale invasion would have involved and the repercussions, and I'd imagine that it wouldn't be good as we're seeing now but of course Putin couldn't hear about that so someone up the chain polishes the turd and tells him it'll all be grand and when it's a success then some sort of promotion for them. This always happens when an egotistical despot is running the show. Sure he's clever and played the game to get to where he is now but his downfall is not having someone who is willing to tell him how bad an idea something is.
There a mix of useful idiots who are happy to post any and everything Russia does is good and everything American or ukraine does is bad ,while repeating all of the Kremlin propaganda verbatim,I doubt any of them are actually official bots ,more trolls looking for a little attention
Ah yes the US defined bogeymen, the Iranians funding terror groups.
What about the US funded Saudis funding the spread of Sunni Wahhabist fundamentalism throughout the world, invading their neighbours or the US friendly Qataris funding terror groups like ISIS?
You do know all those 911 hijackers, all the suicide bombers in Europe, all those Charlie Hebdo and Bataclan attackers, all those "mentally ill" lone wolf attacks hacking the heads off people or running people over with trucks were all to a man Sunni muslims and not Shia muslims ?
I was wondering how long that one would take. Continuing to pay the Russian staff seems a smart move too.
I have to ask. What is a "Putinbot"?
Are they (a) Irish people that support Putin or (b) Russian people using Boards to spread misinformation? (unlikely in my eyes) or (c) Irish WUMs?
Slowly but surely Russia will take out Ukraine's AD systems (They took out an S-300 yesterday) and then with almost free skies, they'll be able to make gains.
Surreal
According to some, they will fix it and come back better
Mostly lies and bull....
It fits Putin's agenda.
Are there some that are, certainly.
Why pretend it is bigger than a tiny, tiny scene.
I wonder are a lot of the people who go on about fascists everywhere and nazi this and that over the last few years in receipt of funding that ultimately goes back to the Kremlin.
Do you think the Ukrainians will ever be in a position to get such terms though? It still looks to me that the Russians will grind them down. The terms of any deal might get worse over time.
Wow, big move by McD's
Russians modifying their tanks for protection against AT missiles, not going so well
There’s actually only 1 Russian in the FIDE top ten ranked chess players on the planet. I’d say they used to be good at chess but their days of dominance are long gone.
Many of the "parts" in S.E Ukraine weren't actually pro-Russian. Polls taken in LNR and DNR in 2014 showed a majority didn't want to join Russia, they just wanted more autonomy. Moscow however had other plans and manufactured a conflict using extreme elements. At a push, perhaps Ukraine would allow intl. monitored referendums in those regions (although I doubt Russia would get the result they want, so that would be a no-go)
Crimea could have a monitored international referendum (no BS 3-weeks-after-annexation Russian "referendum") to decide it's fate. And get the water turned on.
I think Zelensky could go for a pledge not to join NATO. However EU membership would be completely up to Ukraine, I very much doubt they would forgo that no matter how much Russia batters the country.
Allow me to amplify your nightmares
just last month they were performing naval 'exercices' off the irish southern coast
Draw your own conclusions 😱
That may be true, but it's going to take a lot of dead Ukrainians to get to that point.
The idea that someone would possibly think that the cashier of a petrol station would know where its oil supply comes from is so absurd, that it would probably be a good idea to stop and ask yourself if the poster's making a po-faced joke.
Then it could be €2.50 a litre coming our way! There are no easy decisions here, all about the trade-offs.
It never actually happened. The lad is waffling for responses.
Snore..
What your failing to comprehend or understand is that the Ukrainians fighting right now on this day are fighting for their futures.
They aren't fighting for this faux fluffy what if nonsense you are peddling. This happenened in 2014. Putin is simply not trusthworthy. Fight now because the opportunity won't come around again.
You've an awful naieve view of what's actually going on here frankly.
If your feelings are that this 'deal' will cause a war, you're right. It will.
There would be little point. Russia would just move in thousands of "residents" to vote in their favour. It wouldn't be the first time this has been done
The Ukranians don't need to win, they just need to make it impossible for Russia to win. Same thing happened in Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam etc etc etc.
The sticking point for me would be NATO/EU membership: one of these two is essential to avoid a repeat in the future
This is essentially all I'm saying too. I was just using the 'might as well fight to the death' line to underscore the worthlessness of any deal for the Ukranians that doesn't incorporate some guarantee of their future security along these lines.
Gary Kasparov, who was really going places politically against Putin until arrested, made great observation about Putin.
He doesn't play the chessboard, but the opponent.
In other words he looks for weaknesses in the opponent he can use.
Maybe it is the old KGB training where they tried to blackmail and bully people using any weakness they had be it sexual orientation, children, gambling, etc, etc.
Very interesting listening to Kasparov and how Putin railroaded him.
Like they did in Afghanistan lol.
Makey uppy claims
How did you work that out .
"If Anything the Ukrainians have been worse"
Oh you're right. Russia will keep performing as they are, won't change any tactics or repair supply problems. Sure thing mate.
But we would be funding Iranian terrorist proxies all over the middle east
we're trading a devil with another, but what can we do, it appears only devils sleep over massive oil reserves.
It would take weeks to get here and to what end? Article 42 of Lisbon allows us to ask for aid from other EU members anyway.
