The protests in Russia against their invasion aren't even on Putin's radar and those attending are seen as being influenced by Western media by other members of the population.
Sure in the cities you will have people who will economically feel the affect of sanctions in terms of a change in lifestyle etc, but in rural areas its not going to be felt as much of a difference for a while.
If you are talking of an actual revolution by the people to get rid of Putin, similar to 1917 revolution against the Tzar, the people would need significant sections of the police and military to support them, and I don't see that happening soon or in the medium future.
I said they are not a threat to a noteworthy military - china, the US, France, UK, India etc would be supremely confident after observing this mess.
Also not aware of any city that has been "razed".
Nukes are the only reason that Russia can even attempt this. Why on earth would they give them up?
There's the lads, botting away
Russia: "We don't want NATO buildup on our borders."
NATO: "Okay, we won't build NATO up on countries bordering you as long as you agree to never invade them and they remain neutral ground."
Russia: "Deal."
Russia: invades anyway
NATO: "We had a deal"
Russia: "but I feel threatened by them and you based entirely on their reactions towards my aggressive actions that are totally warranted. Shut up or ill nuke you
Dublin man: de nazifies the gate of the Russian Embassy in Dublin
The Embassy: This a clear and blatant violation of the Article 22 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic relations of 1961..
"The incident is cause of extreme concern. We believe that no people of sound mind could support such senseless and barbaric actions."
FFS
This is rapidly turning into a bad dream for Putin.
The sanctions will be progressively biting like fcuk and this extended war will be crippling his ego.
I see two possible outcomes here:
When he's finished bombing and destroying the complete infrastructure of Ukraine, he backs down claiming they've achieved their objectives by purging the country and also securing Donetsk and Luhansk as independent entities.
Or (and this wouldn't surprise me in the slightest) over the next few weeks, as Russia is teetering on the brink of economic oblivion, he demands release of all the billions that have been frozen - under another threat of nuclear retaliation. Where do we go from there? This could go on ad infinitum, and the more cornered he feels, the more the odds increase of him doing it - however small some may say the risk actually is.
At some stage WE HAVE to call this megalomaniacs bluff.
It's not like Spitting Image with a big red button with one single mad person in charge. It's a long chain of command where everyone in it agrees to commit suicide. Extremely unlikely.
We, in fairness you, have already been warned about personally attacking other posters, but anyway you're really just exposing the fact that you're only interested in yourself, hiding behind a mrs lovejoyesque rant
Sorry but I dont think you understand what it means to raze a city. It takes serious sustained heavy bombardment over a long period of time. The cities are flattened, levelled or wiped out entirely. Think Hiroshima, Dresden, Warsaw, Aleppo. You would be talking destruction rates in excess of 80-90%% of all buildings. Russia for several reasons have not used their heavy bombers yet. Which Ukrainian cities have been razed?
where you cower in a corner while your wife and daughter are gang raped for fun by some perverted soldiers on a power trip
What movie did you get that from?
Kind of proves his entire point don't you think?
Melodramatic fantasy at its best
He can't drop a nuc on people he is rescuing, he can't drop it either way without massive military reaction.
Russia's smashing of Ukrainian cities has been tame in comparison to what happened throughout Germany in WWII. They just don't have the type of strategic airforce that Bomber Command employed in the 40's. Plus, this operation has largely been a ground one, and while we've seen some pictures of destroyed buildings from artillery strikes, tanks and bombing, we're some ways off of what happened to, say, Hamburg in July 1942.
Because Russia (and Soviet Union) have said 'f*ck it, lets go home' after serious losses before, in Afghanistan and the first Chechen war. Both wars were absolutely brutal and led to massive casualties and humiliation for Russia/USSR. No nukes were dropped.
Chickenhawking is the counter term I read earlier.
And I'm glad I read it because its the antidote to this juvenile rubbish.
Labelling any discussion you don't have the ability to take part in as "bot" is ridiculous tbh
Arguably yes but NATO weren't overly concerned about Donbass or Crimea.
Not only suicide but agrees every person they ever loved should die too.
Why not though?
Doesn't the Russian military code provide for so-called "escalate to de-escalate"; in other words, to deploy a nuclear weapon to ensure that the target country cease resistance?
If deploying this nuclear warhead somehow implicates a Nato country, they may react accordingly.
Only if you're big into Pidgin tbf.
While you can find grounds to argue that sometimes the best way forward is not to look back ,it's being used as justification for what is happening, the world is close to destruction because of 1 apparently in Ill health man?
What a bizarre take. Obviously I am the only one with anything to lose in a nuclear war. Your attitude epitomizes why wars always make things worse and are so hard to stop and control when they get going. The animal comes out in people, and reason fades away.
Not strictly true, they did supply weapons and pretty comprehensive training during the conflict in the east: 20160627_1607-factsheet-nato-ukraine-support-eng.pdf
If he drops a nuclear bomb o could see his military cooperation in an over through
He's been brilliant in front of the UN , meanwhile the baldy cnut from Moscow siting there with no real t whats going or or repeating Kremlin propaganda
Did you even think that through before you wrote it. Escalate to de-escalate. There is no de-escalation in this case. He faces 30 countries. 3 of which are nuclear powers and others have significant other weapons.
So stupid. The Germans were delighted to have the US there as it meant the communists were not. Even today, if Germany wanted them gone, they would be gone. They are not occupying Germany, such total idiocy on your part. I suppose Ireland is occupying Lebanon too?
The feicin bagpipes should be enough to repel the Russians :)
Those Ukrainian conscript men are fighting for their own country. They would not come or be expected to come to Ireland to fight for us if we were in peril.
If the time ever comes that all Irish men between 18-60 are barred from leaving the country to fight an enemy then I will take a gun in my hand and become a soldier.
suggesting that raw recruits from Ireland should just hop on a plane and be joining the fight in Ukraine is ridiculous and counter productive.
Using a nuclear weapon in Ukraine would set off huge radiation levels which would hit his entire army and cross the border into Russia. These things were never intended to be used in a 'conventional' war, only in a doomsday scenario.
Sick **** using kids with terminal cancer to promote the invasion of Ukraine,
