"Please give a warm Radio Caroline welcome to our newest - and youngest - presenter, JOSH HOLMES-BRIGHT. Sixteen-year-old Josh makes his debut on Radio Caroline North next weekend and you will soon be able to hear him hosting the Caroline Countdown show on the album channel. Josh is no stranger to broadcasting, he is a presenter on a couple of radio stations, including Caroline Community Radio where we first spotted him. We are impressed with his talent and personality, not to mention his music tastes and knowledge, which make him a great fit for Radio Caroline. It's great to have you on board Josh!"
Schedule to follow
Manx have been taking very good care of their AM TX - relatively recently refurbed. At one stage they were thinking of letting it go, but the reaction, particularly to the Radio Caroline North link up, persuaded them not only to continue, but to improve the signal quality and coverage. They currently list the power output as 20Kw and their audio is the best quality you will hear on AM.
The great 1368, ..... '20Kw power, from the middle of the plantation, in the middle of the island, in the middle of the Irish Sea' (as Chris Williams announces on his iconic 'Carnaby Street' programme) - long may it continue. When they are relaying on AM from The Ross Revenge, it reminds me of that first Saturday night in August 1983 when Caroline returned after the sinking of the Mi Amigo ..... the signal rolled in to Dublin on the car radio just as it got dark and I heard Tony Gareth (O'Callaghan) on board The Ross for its first evening on air, giving out the mailing address for reception reports.
It's still great to hear a radio ship broadcasting on AM and I never thought I would still be able to hear that same ship on air in 2022.
Still listening to MANX radio, albeit rather sporadically, on the 1368 Khz on tne AM band in Dublin and the signal has been really clear for some time now.
Last link up of 2021 with Manx Radio 11th / 12th December .
Schedule:
Saturday 11th December
13:00 Paul Brown
16:00 Peter Philips
Sunday 12th December
11:00 Paul Brown
13:00 Andrew Austin
15:00 Ray Clark
Have a peaceful week end
It was mentioned recently in the Bandscan Thread too. I believe that, before this recent power increase, you have to go back to the early days of the Ross Revenge in the 1980s for the last time that Radio Caroline could be picked up on the analogue radio in Ireland!
Just a note to mention that Caroline in the last few days has implemented the power increase granted to them by OFCOM - believed to be from 1Kw up to 4Kw on their 648Khz from Orfordness.
Certainly coming through much more here in the (Irish) midlands on these winter evenings following the increase. Not "normal listener" quality, but certainly clearly audible at times in the evening.
Steve
I had the first two on via Radio Garden at that time too! Lee Shuttlewood was on playing a different track at that time on Radio Caroline AM 648. He is playing Freefall by Camel now! I will just check 1368 Manx Radio AM now: Somebody to Love by Queen, presumably played by Dave Foster. Maybe 648 AM is only different online.
When I posted at 1.53 pm the three of them were the same. I just checked again at 9.23 pm. Shine on You Crazy Diamond is being played on 648, 1368 and 3905.
The sports programme was on from 5 to 6 pm, a break from the Radio Caroline North project. But, other than that, the monthly Radio Caroline North is on 1368 Manx Radio AM (different programming on Manx Radio FM, except for Carnaby Street which is on every week). So, 3905 are relaying Radio Caroline 648, not Radio Caroline North, except if there is any joint programming.
Here is the schedule for Radio Caroline 648 from this morning to tomorrow evening

I did notice, just now when listening to Manx Radio AM, that they played a jingle "648", even though there was a different programme on Radio Caroline 648 from Bracknell-on-Sea! There is also this confusing, seemingly misleading information on their website: Listen in on 648 AM in the South and South-East, on 1368 AM in the North and North-West courtesy of our friends at Manx Radio, on the Radio Caroline app and around the world online here (via the Manx AM Radio Player).
648 and 3905 are the same at 5.30 pm, on my receiver. 1368 is a Manx Radio sports programme.
Just tuned in now on Radio Garden. There is different programs on Radio Caroline AM 648 and Radio Caroline North on 1368 Manx Radio AM. Presumably, the Dundalk pirate is relaying the stream for Radio Caroline North on 1368.
Being relayed by the Dundalk pirate on 3905 kHz, massive signal locally. Good signal on most of the SDR's in Ireland, especially North West.
3905 is in sync with the internet stream, but a couple of seconds behind 648 and 1368.

Following on from the outstanding fundraising 3 days it's back to the weekend of 18th / 19th September for the next Radio Caroline North broadcast via Manx Radio on 1368khz and elsewhere.
Schedule to follow.
Also being relayed on 1494 kHz from Dundalk.
Just in case anyone wants to listen.... Radio Caroline is live from The Ross now (Fri), for their annual fundraising weekend. Available in these parts (Ireland, East Coast) online and on AM 1368Khz from Manx Radio. They will be live from the ship until 9pm on Sunday - regular updates about life on board are posted on their Facebook page.
Thankfully, the tech issues with webstream quality from the broadcast last month, have been sorted - sounding great now. Tomorrow (Sat) marks 54 years since the passing of the UK Marine Offences Act -I am sure they will do something to mark the occasion.
You can also access Manx Radio on the Radio Garden platform. Remember that, with the exception of Carnaby Radio which is on both Manx Radio AM and FM, you would need to choose Manx Radio AM for the Radio Caroline North broadcasts. Incidentally, "Radio Caroline AM 648", and various other related incarnations, are also available on Radio Garden. I know from using it that it is best to stick with Manx Radio AM if you want be sure to hear Radio Caroline North broadcasts from the Ross Revenge, as Radio Caroline 648 often has it's own programming during those Radio Caroline North runs.
