Want to bet millions of lives on that?
Certainly don't want to defend Russian military, but people in hostage situations will, understandably, say almost anything the enemy wants if the alternative is being killed
They're just contrarian cranks, many of whom are upset where they are in their own lives and resent those around them. The resentment is so strong that they would rather argue against their own communities and Government and speak up in favour of the Russian Government instead, who most certainly doesn't give a toss about them. They know it's true too, deep down.
, to be fair, I'll humour you and your question:
No, that would be daft. I work. But, some of my work involves writing, so I'm working on a piece on Military aircraft operations leading up to and during this conflict.
I have a sort of app that alerts me when certain aircraft or aircraft types go active so, during the day, if I see movements pertaining to the Russia discussion on Boards, I'll post it.
I also have a PPL and a long love of aircraft. I actually took aerobatics lessons in a Russian Yak-52 ( trainer aircraft) and one thing that struck me about Russian aircraft: difficult to break, easy to fix. In comparison to Western aircraft, which are generally very sensitive.
As anyone that keeps an eye on FS24 or ADS-B will tell you, we are currently witnessing the greatest movement of military aircraft in Europe since WW2.
Anyway I need to get back to work....
I'd say they do need to capture him because they will desperately need a veneer of legitimacy for whatever "peace treaty" ( partition/annexation) they force on Ukraine.
This is the one I saw.
There has been an interesting change in social media as the COVID denier/anti-vax community has almost seamlessly transformed into a pro-Russian/anti-Western community.
I'm not sure whether it says more about the type of people who are vulnerable to Russian disinformation, or about who the driving forces within those 'communities' actually are.
This thread continues to provide fascinating insights on mass psychology. Nothing is off limits with regard to demonising the character of the enemy, even pure fantasy.
Not much has come out about the flurry of diplomatic activity over the weekend with the Israeli PM meeting Putin then the German chancellor.
Israel PM spokesman did say that during the meeting, Putin was “not conspiracy theorizing or irrational, nor is he suffering from rage attacks.”
However, he also said that Putin made it clear to Bennett that he is unwilling to end hostilities until Ukraine demilitarizes, saying that Moscow’s position is: “until there is dialogue, hostilities [will continue].”
Russia conveyed to Israel via diplomatic channels that it is deliberately not targeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, even though it knows where he is, reportedly with the aim of capturing him alive.
Basically the Russians are coming out with all sorts of contradictory statements compared to their actions. Either it's deliberate and coordinated, or there's a bit of chaos in military and political ranks. Given how poorly they're executing the war, I'd guess it's the latter.
So the Americans are occupying by not being in Ukraine - and the Russians are liberating Ukraine by occupying it ?
They may reduce excise on diesel and petrol as targeted measures but carbon tax won't be touched
This whole war started because Putin decided that an independent and democratic Country should not have the right to make their own decisions about their future, and I support that right as well, and that includes them deciding on what to do regarding the war, continue or make a deal ( surrender??? ) I'm pretty sure that they can make intelligent decisions themselves / Slava Ukraine.
Its been shared extensively on twitter. TBH if that guy is an example of the Russian Armies commanders its no wonder they are in the mess they are. The whole interview imho is a rambling mess. I'll see if I can find a link.
Why do you think they are cutting off the Internet
It might wake em up abit
USD\RUB spot rate now pushing 140.
Pretty mad to see your savings close to halve in a week.
Bye, bye middle classes of Russia.
The Russian army is fair embarrassing this campaign is a **** show ! I think the west should call Putin's bluff and implement a no fly zone I'd wager they haven't even a nuke in condition to fire let alone thousands of em 🤣🤣 NATO should just rock in Russia can't do **** about it.
I seen a report on my news feed about a captured Russian commander now condemning his countrys agression and begging for forgiveness.
But noticed it was that rag The Sun reporting it so dont want to link to it.
Cant find anything else reporting to it at all anywhere?

Looks like what the bus stops used to look like here when all the immigrants were leaving them behind instead of putting them on the bus so that they'd get another one*
*joke referring to the old trope
I'm sure it was funnier in the meme you copied it from
I suppose it is our sad world of self interested nation states isn't it?
The pressing question when they might have to do something uncomfortable (vote against an ally doing something horrible) is, what's in it for me? Obviously not enough for India this time.
Not sure I blame them, as said way of the world, but should be remembered by the EU/European countries and their govt.'s next time a govt. beyond a set radius of approx 4k km to South or the East comes looking for something out of us unconditionally.
No.
NATO is finding ways to support Ukraine without putting boots on the ground.
Here's a segment from a New York Times article on what's happening.
A War in Cyberspace That Has Barely Begun
One of the odd features of the conflict so far is that it runs the gamut of old and modern warfare. The trenches dug by Ukrainian soldiers in the south and east look like scenes from 1914. The Russian tanks rolling through the cities evoke Budapest in 1956. But the battle of the present day that most strategists expected to mark the opening days of the war — over computer networks and the power grids and communications systems they control — has barely begun.
American officials say that is partly because of extensive work done to harden Ukraine’s networks after Russian attacks on its electric grid in 2015 and 2016. But experts say that cannot explain it all. Perhaps the Russians did not try very hard at the outset, or are holding their assets in reserve. Perhaps an American-led counteroffensive — part of what Gen. Paul M. Nakasone, the head of Cyber Command and the National Security Agency, calls a doctrine of “persistent engagement” in global networks — explains at least some of the absence.
Government officials are understandably tight-lipped, saying the cyberoperations underway, which have been moved in recent days from an operations center in Kyiv to one outside the country, are some of the most classified elements of the conflict. But it is clear that the cybermission teams have tracked some familiar targets, including the activities of the G.R.U., Russia’s military intelligence operations, to try to neutralize their activity. Microsoft has helped, turning out patches in hours to kill off malware it detects in unclassified systems.
All of this is new territory when it comes to the question of whether the United States is a “co-combatant.” By the American interpretation of the laws of cyberconflict, the United States can temporarily interrupt Russian capability without conducting an act of war; permanent disablement is more problematic. But as experts acknowledge, when a Russian system goes down, the Russian units don’t know whether it is temporary or permanent, or even whether the United States is responsible.
Similarly, sharing intelligence is perilous. American officials are convinced that Ukraine’s military and intelligence agencies are populated with Russian spies, so they are being careful not to distribute raw intelligence that would reveal sources. And they say they are not passing on specific intelligence that would tell Ukrainian forces how to go after specific targets. The concern is that doing so would give Russia an excuse to say it is fighting the United States or NATO, not Ukraine.
And before that, the US had an internet troll/edgelord are President.
Trump you mean. Biden is no visionary, but orders of magnitude less damaging than Trump. It was Trump that gave Putin the confidence that the USA were weak isolationists.
