I was in the company of someone recently who blamed Germany* for the murder of 20m Russian people. Now, this is someone that has access to the internet, and I'd classify as competently intelligent. So, you'll still have some people in Russia that wont have a bad said about Stalin. So, Putin is thinking, no matter what I do I'll still be loved by some cronies.
*Germany were no saints and were the cause of many deaths, but were a footnote compared to what Stalin did to his own people.

Trump or Biden was the best the US could come up with as a choice for the US president. That's a shocking indictment of democracy to be fair. Although, Putin isn't a poster boy for despotism either.
Global supplies of wheat and fertilizer were screwed the moment they rolled into Ukraine. Regardless of sanctions they were increasing gas prices while reducing output for months beforehand. Russia were already turning the screws for recession as it was, it just turns out that they completely fucked their assessment of how an invasion would go and now we have a crop and fertilizer shortage on top of sanctions.
We were headed for the wall already, inflation through the roof and cost of living through the roof. The Russians just put the foot down instead of tapping the brakes.

Yes i do. However i think maybe putting millions of people at risk of starvation and the global economy grind to a standstill was not the best idea. They may work but do think they were a bit rushed and consequence not thought out great.

With the home heating side given we are coming out of winter they might get away with that however with car fuel they won't. Because of failures of Governments since the 70's in this country people tend to live quite a distance from where they work with no adequate public transport to service them. That alone will ramp up the pressure and the coalition partners of FF being the populists that they are and especially as the bulk of their TD's are rural will jump on this. The Greens will probably fight it but they'll get on board because they will get decimated at the next election if they block something like this.
I'd suggest people start to canvass their local TD's that are in the Government parties.
Bleak because they don't parrot the US occupation forces pov 🙄
