If Russian strategic bombers are planning raids on Ukrainian targets then Stingers and other MANPADs probably won't be much help*. On the other hand, if the Russian strategic air arm is in as bad shape as as the rest...
*Surely they could have come up with a better term than something that sounds like personal hygiene product for men?
Definitely a Limerick man!!
Wouldn’t it be mad if we all were put in a room together. It would be funny to see if we could pick out who’s who on the thread. I guess that would defeat the purpose of Boards, though!
In the early days of the thread, when there was a lot of pro-Russia nonsense, @Yurt2 was one of the few providing high calibre and very informative posts. I may have given up on the thread if it wasn’t for him and some other high-quality posters on the topic
Russia is about to default on it's debt
There was no one in NZ before the Maori arrived. They were the first settlers, so no one got wiped out except the Moa and various other mega fauna like the enormous Haast Eagle that fed on 3.6m tall Moa.
You have it in reverse my Friend, its what the dedicated underdogs did to a so called "superior" enemy. And sandal wearing ones at that, and with the most basic of weapons for most of the time until the US started supplying more sophisticated firepower.
Channel 4 doing some fairly unflinching reports.
It's just sickening what the Russians are doing to these innocent people. Just looking at that one man at around 29 seconds in talking about evacuating people. A mortar, I think, strikes the road only a few metres away - cutting him off mid sentence. He survived, but a lot of people in Ukraine are getting cut off mid-sentence, like him, and that's it. They're a memory. It really hits you - the suddenness of it. That's lives gone, people dead, and other people living with no life to go back to. For no good reason. Putin has to end this war of ego right now, and if he won't end it, someone must end him.
He should have proved that he really believed that fighting is not the answer by letting you kick him in the balls and him doing nothing about it
Is it me or is that bigger than it looks? Now obviously they're concerned about Russias new "fake news, AKA not our propaganda news" law which could land local employees in gaol, but isn't Tiktok a Chinese company? I doubt this didn't come from head office in Bejing or wherever.
What will the ramifications be for the Irish economy and the multinationals based on Ireland if Russia defaults?
People would recognise me off the telly though. I do be mainly on Fox news.
My FSB handler is deep undercover posing as a plasterer in County Limerick, twas he who gave me the Yurt handle. Didn't like at first, but it's grown on me. He calls me from a reactivated Eircom phonebox on William Street.
"Majestic flows the Shannon does it not?" he says
"Like the Volga in the first thaw of Spring" I reply
These people that support the Wallaces of the world are always heavy on the grandiose talk, but are cowards on it. This person is so selfish that he would wish his own mother dead to get her last cent.
Any truth to the rumour that the original Yurt succumbed to a bad dose of the novichoks?
Will we see nauseating TV adverts of smiling men riding bikes and playing tennis? Whilst wearing their oh-so-discreet MANPADS, ofc!
Time will tell. Hopefully we'll be around to analyse it.
May be out to snip a few cables connecting with the West:-
In addition to liberating the poor Ukrainians by, eh, killing them, Mad Vlad is going full North Korea on his country. We'll soon be referring to 'the Russian middle class' in the past tense.
People talking about a few thousand protestors on the street. There needs to be millions. The Russians are quite good at overthrowing Tsars once they get sufficiently exercised.
George Orwell will be suing the Gremlin for copyright infringement.
They basically just lifted the plot completely 🙄
Hard to tell. Depends on the downstream consequences for creditors and how far the dominos extend. For Russia it's catastrophic. They are effectively locked out of the debt markets and appear to be trying to pay creditors with Rubles which have lost 50% of their value so far. That won't go down well with them.

Over the last few years I became I terested in futurism and just reading up on trends that would impact upon us over the next decades. The increased emphasis on climate change was the first example of one of these hypotheticals catapulting into the collective consciousness. Then came the pandemic and societal changes like WFH. Now we have a major land war in Europe and imperialism we have not seen for decades. It really feels like the relatively stable Western world I enjoyed for my youth is no more. We will live and adapt but the world we now inhibit will probably put an end to the idea we were on this never ending marchof progress to utopia. In truth it's cyclical probably not linear.
Komrade - do not discuss further, such things on open Web page site. May be Kapitalists listening in - loose lips sink the war ship boats
Head Qkuarters suggest - communikation only by covert means. This is directive, from Great Leader
Onwerd to Victory Komrade
I know.
War is Hell part #2:
Telegraph reports UK private schools suffering cash shortfalls due to the freezing of Russian oligarch funds.
Might be wishful thinking, but I'm feeling this is all really coming crashing down for the Russians as we speak..
Interesting post I too like to ponder on such things.
I keep coming to the conclusion lately that technology has progressed but us humans have regressed.
Da Colonel. I must report that my Garth Brooks Telecom Eireann call-card I use to contact my handler has fallen into the wrong hands. I polonium myself now.
I betray motherland. And for why?
My armchair analysis is that there is going to be major repercussions of having a world that is so interconnected. Travel has never been easier and awareness of the world outside never greater. We have had refugee crisis before but on different times. Today it is Ukrainian refugees, tomorrow it will be climate refugees. It's very very unstable both short and long term.
