In the very same way you want to give Ukraine to Russia,,,,,Have you been in the Novi Arbat recently, Comrade ???
TV3 news or whatever it's called these days is headlining, just after the main ukrainian news, diesel and petrol prices going past 2 euro.
2 Euro? Ha- just wait :D
Hopefully my ancient jalopy will survive another few years and WFH will keep going for another few years.
After 10 years of grinding death and destruction in Afghanistan, the Russians left, defeated , after having lost 10'000 soldiers in that time. And now, only 10 days in so far in this invasion, and thousands of Russians killed, ( unconfirmed , but reportedly 9'000 dead) You think that they are defeated??? They are only getting started.....men and weapons flooding into the Country, with Russians loosing men and material on a daily basis, and rising resistance at home in Russia??. Sure the invaders are gaining ground ( slowly, and way behind schedule ) but they are paying dearly for it, and so far its only a down payment.
The real issue for prices is the loss of capacity in Ukraine. It seems likely that only a fraction of the wheat normally produced will get sown this year. This is therefore grain that won't be available to anyone.
Russian exports are different. As long as the major buyers outside of the west fail to sanction Russia, then russian wheat will get diverted to these markets, displacing wheat from other sources. Russian wheat could even have its price suppressed relative to global wheat as there will be fewer buyers for it.
This is an equation with endless variables, it's extremely difficult to predict where things will end up.
What would be the implications for Ireland and Europe?
Ukraine has been part of the "west" for a number of years, russia has decided to go to war with the west, they can withdraw at any time and end the war.
The more of this type of rhetoric we see the more sobered we should become.
We can't lose sight of the fact that there's a mad man with his finger on the nuclear button.
Two weeks into this and it's still surreal.
A few drones dropping IED incendiaries could be Cheap and effective
Here are examples of REAL RUSSIAN HERO'S
GLORY TO THE HEROS WHO STAND AGAINST A TYRANT
'thus always to tyrants'
This was only ever going to end one way….
Looking up the profile of antisocial personality disorder gives good insight into the driving motivation of those in command
I think the reason that cant happen is because Ireland needs its embassy in Russia.
No. I wouldn't be sympathetic to the US if it invaded a Russian-alligned country on its border. Based on previous behaviour, i would absolutely expect The US to invade any neighbours who aligned with Russia though. See history of the US invading and toppling governments through the 70s and 80s and see the Bay Of Pigs invasion in Cuba in early 1960s.
Given past behaviour, what would you think the US would do if a neighbour (or even a central or South American country) aligned with Russia or China? I think they'd do a regime change and install a government of their choosing (see Venezuela for a recent example of replacing a governmentthey didnt like). But what do you think they would do?
Indeed, and seeing a lot of warnings now about potential false flags from Russia.
And there will still be the Micks and the Clares and the others saying, oh, oh , oh, we kind of condemn the Russians, but well, let’s just sit on our hands and not escalate. This is all NATOs fault.
I hope that the footnote in the history books with their names scorns them greatly
That's all a bit pointless when a lot of weapons are coming in ready made from outside!
Its not anti Russian anyway - i have nothing against the average Russian and i am growing more and more concerned for them
This is Anti-Putin - and justifiably so - Never forget
God help them if they come after the likes of us poor gobshites, on this Irish pseudoanoymous discussion forum. Russophobia is such a nebulous term. 🙄
I despise the Russian Government because it is using bullying tactics to achieve its erroneous quest to dismantle a sovereign nation. However, I pity the average Russian. They have no hand or part in this. They are victims of the regime also. My nephew is seven. He told me today that a boy in his class is Russian. I told him that I hope that he and the other people in this class are nice to the little boy. We are all human. We all deserve kindness.
I dont think it can be compared to Syria, for several reasons,
I honestly cant see this one playing out the same as Syria. I hope Im right.
Been away for a few days so just catching up. That prick of an ambassador Yuri Filatov needs to be dragged out of the embassy and escorted to Dublin airport for his detestable lies alone.
I don't care where he goes, just get him off this island.
An abhorrent human.
Uneasiness here is a mistake or weighed one that someone rogue within the military may fire a cruise missile or standard missile at base or airport right at a country bordering Ukraine.
Given the stories of soldiers giving up and not wanting to be there, a "rogue" is more likely to lock the system and run off with the keys!
Russia could prevent an escalation in the conflict by getting the f*ck out of Ukraine. They're not wanted there. How 'bou' dah?
Means nothing until or unless russia does something to back it up. There’s been an awful lot of tough talk from the Russian authorities and to be frank it’s all hot air unless they do something to back it up.
Im not hoping they do anything , not am I implying they wouldn’t do anything drastic either. But where last week the hinting use of nuclear weapons was concerning, it looks like more desperation from a failing government that only has only one trick it can use and unless it intends on using it, it’s a toothless dog with a scary bark
Cos RT say so most likely tbh.
Its a threat pure and simple - I read it as desperation; Nothing more - it disgusts me to my core - They disgrace themselves more and more, every day
Ukraine army receiving military supplies unashamedly from regions outside the conflict area. Weapons wipe out Russian-born soldiers fighting for their country ( right or wrongly). Russia could argue for war any time, with an increased posture of their armed forces elsewhere in the world?.
Russia and Putin know it is a big deal to attack the west the Baltic states and eastern states who joined Nato. It may go nuclear quickly. Uneasiness here is a mistake or weighed one that someone rogue within the military may fire a cruise missile or standard missile at base or airport right at a country bordering Ukraine. The country is in Nato, a shooting war may start. In war time, this event could happen to trigger a wider conflict. We must acknowledge the reality the west is at war with Russia now how it all end is anybody’s guess.
The whole world doesn't need to get along for nuclear disarmament to occur.
What does need to happen is that enough pressure is put on governments by their people that nuclear disarmament becomes something that has to be strategized in a forum such as the UN.
There is no situation in which all nuclear weapons could be decommissioned all at once, that's not remotely possible but the reductions that occurred previously should be accelerated to a point where countries such as Russia and America go from close to 7000 nuclear weapons each down to double figures only within a tight time frame. Hopefully reducing to zero over time.
The way these weapons are designed is horrific. ICBM's with one nuclear warhead will typically deploy up to five additional decoy warheads to ensure that the weapons reach their targets and cause maximum damage without being intercepted, Russia supposedly has warheads ready to fire at American food production regions that are calibrated to irradiate the soil for generations ensuring any survivors will starve to death.
Getting the number of nukes down to zero is not an easy proposition but it's the most worthwhile endeavor imaginable in light of recent events where one unhinged human being could potentially destroy our entire species.
This isn't an issue we should be dealing with at this point in our history, and if we do get out of this situation we owe it to future generations to make sure they aren't facing the same dilemmas in years to come.
What the f*ck is that supposed to mean? What is the threat alluding to?
