Exactly, Putin does not need military action to disrupt or even break up the European Union. There are other ways. The Eastern European countries taking in the Ukrainian refugees now will no way take in vast numbers refugees from other parts of the world. Western Europe will have to take all of them, none of them or else break up the EU.

It is not "laziness and disinterest", it is fear and division. There will be no global nuclear disarmament until there's some sort of World Government (or we're much closer to that than we are right now).
Similar with the other "WMD" (biological and chemical weapons) which while not as bad are quite nasty enough and probably there's many countries that have them squirrelled away.
The fear that another country may be holding out in secret (to whip them out to brandish at the right time) and absence of any authority/guardian to prevent that will ensure the weapons are clung to by those who have them....anyway...all off topic...
While Russians forces appear to be advancing more slowly than they should be, there is surely an inevitability of their military forces defeating the Ukrainian army (until they probably become embroiled in guerrilla warfare).
With the pulverising of cities and the killing and maiming of so many citizens, would there be any consensus / rationale for President Zelenskyy to order his forces to surrender? It is indeed honourable that so many regular men and women have chosen to remain in Ukraine to fight and possibly die for their country, is he ineffectively encouraging their demise.
With so many countries issuing arms to Ukraine, are they prolonging a conflict which will more than likely end with the Russians seizing (although possibly having difficulty controlling) vast tracts of land? Continuing the conflict means that there is surely more chance of it escalating and the escalation of it, by any means, has dire consequences for millions (or should that be billions). I really don't think the Russians are going to be impressed if the US are assisting Poland in sending military planes to the Ukrainians.

The Ukrainians have said they will fight to the last man, and I don't see that changing. Hell if they were better equipped from the start, the Russian army would probably never have made it over the border.

I don't think so. All signals point to Poland taking a plurality. There is already a large Ukrainian population in Poland with a built in community and many of them will not stray. Ukrainian and Polish are sister languages so accessing the job market there will be much easier.
Maybe 'should' but this war has made it crystal clear that the only way to be safe from an agressor is to be nuclear armed. We are going to see nuclear proliferation in spades, not the opposite. Were I prime minister of Australia, I would have started the new weapons program days ago.

Russia did not have massive momentum at all. They are inching forward.
Their troops are demoralized, vehicles abandoned all over the place, supply is a mess, planes getting shot down left right and center. The only thing they have going for them is the sheer amount of equipment they can call on. And if the UA keep up their rate of work, that advantage won't be long evening out.

Not. Climate, topography and soil type means that large areas are not suitable for commercial wheat growing where that wheat is used for bread making. The wheat we do grow tends to be low in gluten due to low levels of sunshine and excess rain plus high humidity means that wheat is subject to a wide variety of fungal type diseases.
England has more suitable soils compared to us overall. The other thing is you need plenty of fertiliser to grow top quality wheat. That could be an issue this year.
