Just thinking outside the warfare and humanitarian Crisis in Ukraine.
80% of the worlds grain exports come from the Ukraine
Has farming work being abandoned because of the fighting?
if so this is gonna have serious knock on effects globally, more so in the world's poorer countries. Even here we could see unrest if the price of for example batchloaf doubles by august
Remember the metadata showed the video with him ordering the troops to invade showed it was made 2 days before.
You were. Fair play on admitting it.
But hey easy to completly mess up like that so no worries.
Aimed at the Israeli PM no doubt
Yeah, there's a rumour going around that he died in a car accident after a heated argument with his advisors. He was then replaced with the winner of Putin lookalike contest, named William Campbell from Edinburgh who the Russian government then secretly trained to copy Putin's mannerisms and...., oh, no, wait that was Paul McCartney.
I can see fuel shortages in the short term anyway. Maybe not 1970's oil crisis level, but we'll feel the pinch and not just at the pumps. Fuel prices go up, transport costs go up, food prices go up. And that's before the huge grain exports that Ukraine usually produces.
I can't help but think how pissed off Ukraine must feel having signed to give up the world's 3 largest stockpile of Nuclear weapons based on guarantees that were given, and now they're being let fend for themselves without, knowing if they had, we wouldn't be having this discussion
Certainly if prices continue to rise after awhile it will test the resolve about supporting the sanctions of a lot of people also how long will the welcome last to the Ukanians that come here hopefully people will stick with it and remember the big picture .
They are not. They are a deterrant because everyone assumes that the "other side" will not fire because it ensures mutual destruction. There are 2 problems, one is if one party is insane or has a god complex or similar. The second is if one party suspects the other will not retaliate. Putin must be under no illusions that NATO will retaliate, anything else will be a weakness that he will crush. It is nothing to do with revenge.
I didn't realise Thatcher was far left. Learn something new every day.
Rubio - PLEASE LEAVE INEPTITUDE TO LUKASHENKO -
You know I wasn’t talking about Thatcher, I even specified who I was talking about. I don’t get the point of your post.
What wold be the aim of this, if it's true?
We know there were several cases where a Russian nuclear missile could or should have been launched, given the false but convincing information that was to hand. Yet here we all are.
No you didn't, there was nothing specific in that post about who you were talking about.
Yep they can’t really blame NATO and I’m sure they don’t privately as it was really their misjudgement to ever trust Russia.
Because I think we should make Russia a complete pariah state until it behaves otherwise. As for the Russians fleeing. Neither you nor I know their opinion of Putin.
Certainly going to be affected as the crops need to be planted in the next two months. The problem will be exporting it if they have no access to ports. If Putin gets to Odessa he will control all of Ukraine's coastline.
Patrick Stewart ?
Nukes are only useful as a revenge weapon, a war cannot be won with them. They are a deterrent because they mean if you win a war against me I will end you.If they were just a deterrent they would not be used after a war started because that would mean they didn’t work. They would absolutely be used though.
I never said that he was dead Steve. I was replying to another post that suggested that he may be dead...and I mentioned that Mullah Omar, leader of the Taliban in Afghanistan had been dead for 2 years before it was made public....
To be able to transport their troops, probably not dressed as soldiers.
I wonder if anyone has ever used a javelin on a moving train
I probably could have phrased it better to clarify I was wondering who the hell he met while he was there
Disappointed in Shell - the world and his dog have been saying that we'll all have to share the pain of sanctions, so I think they should have sucked it up and waited for non-Russian crude to be available.
I can understand their (Shell's) operations may have incurred greater cost, maybe by sitting idle or stop/start of machinery and processes costing more than keeping them running etc. but that's the price to pay. And I'm pretty sure they would have passed that cost on along the chain to us poor saps at the end.
I think they've made a poor decision.
Is this 40 mile convoy a myth or what's going on with it?
It's apparently stalled , Ukrainian forces took out multiple vehicles at the front of the convoy and are targeting others along the road ,they can't move forward and can't retreat
That was the whole principle of MAD....mutual assured destruction. But just how many nuclear bombs would it take to destroy the world? 4? 5 ? 6? 7? 10? 15? 20? because when you consider the effects of Chernobyl and Fukushima, which were essentially not bombs as such, and compare the effects of those incidences with a few high yield Kiloton warhead's. Neither side needs to unleash more than a fraction of their "stocks" to completely destroy the World. Vlad could do it all by himself.
With recent cloud cover no satellite can give up to date info in the last two to three days.
All politics West and East is corrupt thats one thing for sure and I trust neither but I am baffled how weak the West and NATO really are when it involves Russia, its like they feel like they can't take on this Superpower in the fear they will lose. People talking about starting WW3 I think this has already started and history will repeat itself again. There will soon be genocide in Ukraine and will the world watch as it happens? Are you OK if there is genocide committed in Ukraine and nobody intervenes? What do the UN actually do if they can't intervene because of political agendas?
