Not the story Jo, the discussion on this forum as it relates to destroying a persons reputation by making unsubstantiated allegations online. Would you like it if it happened to you Jo? I doubt any of us would like it if it did happen.
On another level, I believe it makes it more difficult for people who have suffered sexual abuse to be believed when a high profile allegation gets gutted by the accuser admitting they made false allegations, that is the real, and sad affect of this story.

Personally I don’t think he has one- there’s legality and then there’s personal taste- considering the wider account of the relationship by the accuser which is merely disputed by McDermott I don’t see any chance that advertisers would back any future shows of him.
And what if the story came out as-is but without the allegation of underage? Given his hollier than thou wokeness again I wouldn’t have seen him last. Unfair? His PR people are trying to ease him back into the public eye gently without difficult questions being asked. Its PR 101.
Its no coincidence that the date on the womans solicitors letter is blanked out and he releases it the middle of the outbreak of ww3. Its as if nobody cares. On a slow news day this would be leading. The date on that would be interesting.
The fact he hasnt named the woman is also strange. Why? That could surely clear things up. Something doesnt add.

I guess we don’t know what legal battles he fought to date to get to this stage - the statement issued, whilst addressing the issue of underage, doesn’t address, as in resolve, certain other claims she had made, except to say that he has a different perspective on what happened in their relationship. I don’t think that’s good enough for a paying public - they, and advertisers need clarity on these things, especially advertisers

Have you read the thread? Most of either don’t know who he is, or couldn’t care less about him as an individual.
This thread is as much, if not more about the wrongness of unsubstantiated allegations being made anonymously online. And the damage done to real victims when the accuser is admits to making false allegations.
It is also interesting to see a few posters continue to imply wrongdoing, whilst decrying the posting of false allegations online. The irony/hypocrisy may be lost on them.

I never heard about him or this whole incident, but trial by social media has to stop. There are correct ways to go about things, ruining people's lives by publishing lies in social media, is not the correct way.

Being honest its a mess that could be easily be resolved but for some reason eoghan doesnt want to release details of the woman or the relationship.
