9k for over a week of conventional war is nowhere near unbelievable. I've seen estimates for that much in a day of localised fighting for NATO forces in some scenarios. I have no doubt that the Ukrainian figures may be high, but it's also because, frankly, the Russians aren't really doing a good job of taking the fight to the Ukrainians. I think two decades of counterinsurgency have managed to cloud peoples' perspectives on just how lethal a modern war can be.

It's a fair question. Remington makes 7.62x39 and 5.56 for Ukraine's old AK-47s and the special forces M4s, but does not currently make 5.45. Hornady is, I believe, the only US manufacturer to do so. As to recoil, I own an AK-74 (Technically a VEPR, with a heavier receiver) and several 5.56mm rifles. Yes, the felt recoil of the AK seems to be less, but frankly, both are light compared to my FN-FAL and Lee Enfield.

Really? I'm sitting here watching the premier league, they have a Ukrainian flag in the bottom corner. Websites, tv channels etc with Ukrainian flags. Now I support Ukraine and am 100% against the invasion but was there Iraqi flags everywhere when they were getting slaughtered?

After this is over the sanctions should only begin to lift once Putin is gone and reparations have been put in place to rebuild Ukraine and compensate the families of those who died. Theres be thousands of single mothers in Ukraine after this who will not only have lost their partner but also the main bread winner. This should cost Russia trillions.

this is a perfectly sane position to have. Comparisons are a false equivalence, but you can believe BOTH WARS WERE WRONG. (i just feel this one is far worse - no offence)
Just a guess, but if Russia sign up to some sort of ceasefire/withdrawal etc, then the chances are one of the demands will be to un-freeze assets taken.
He'd be getting more than an infraction from me given his behaviour during this conflict
Let's not pretend Russia is that weak. It doesn't help. The Russians have Ukraine destroyed and are taken control bit by bit.
