I see the Ukrainian say they have killed 9k russian troops but that can't be right. They must be including every suspected combatant that they have ever shot at. 9k would surely mean a large conventional engagement but I'm not seeing news of large infantry/armored battles? I'm assuming losses are coming from artillery, ambush and small battles of less than 100?

"How can we be so sure??", lending equal weight to weaker theories, always trying to minimize, whilst dressing up their argument as "Putin is bad but".

We aren't sure, everyone knows the Ukrainians are fighting for their very lives, there will be some exaggerations, we are just taking in as much information as we can from as many sources as we can and building a picture from that.

There is absolutely no comparison though, all this horseshut about hypocrisy ignores the facts. Iraq violated several UN agreements, prevented the arms inspectors from doing their jobs, had carried out chemical attacks on civilians in the past and was ruled by a psychopathic dictator. Even Germany, who were against the war, stated it seemed likely that Saddam either had or was actively trying to acquire weapons of mass destruction, Ukraine is a democratic state that has violated no peace or arms agreements.
This is all setting the stage for a Chinese brokered peace deal isn't it
Why is anyone surprised anymore. We need to get over it, Putin is invading a country and wants to subjugate it, either as a puppet or to be annexed, same difference. All the **** that comes out of his mouth is irrelevant, his intentions are clear. If you are Ukrainian it is kill or run, if they surrender, there will be no mercy from Putin, he wants absolute control and nothing less.

Thinking of places we could house people temporarily, thinking back to school about 20 years ago we went on retreats and outdoor activities to a place in Mountrath and ramsrgrange in south Wexford that were huge old buildings with proper facilities (showers etc). Australia and many other countries should rapidly pursue nuclear weapons programs. Putin has made this ubundantly clear. Australia may have a defense treaty with the US but a president like Trump makes it worthless.
