No, Europe appears to have learned a lesson the hard way that Russia is it's enemy and they can no longer line it's pockets and enable it to grow in strength. Unfortunately it seems it might take 3 years for Germany to fully wean off Russian gas, but that process has started. I think they announced 3 new LNG terminals to be built to facillitate all this, but it's going to take time.
Talk about the absolute worst time ever to have the German Green party stupids sharing power and trying to stop all the necessary things that need to be done, like restarting all the nuclear power stations and extending the life of the existing ones instead of shutting them down.
Of course the Greens in this country are also covering themselves in glory by currently trying to field legislation making LNG terminals in this country illegal. Instead we should be going full tilt on exploiting all of Irelands gas reserves instead. Locking them away is crazy. First the diesel is better than petrol disaster of 2007/8 and now this. Will this country ever learn not to vote for these utter morons?
Terrorism, like the IRA terrorism, worked over the long-term. They made themselves a long term thorn in the side and brought the British to the negotiation table. Now they need to hold out and stall the Russian offensive in the short term. Terrorism might be a good strategy for a long term occupation resistance, but it's not good now.
Amazing how comfortable we've become with terrorism in the last week. Terrorist used to be bad up until then.
Time to ratchet sanctions up another level.
Europe stop buying Russian gas NOW!
We can survive without it.
Meanwhile on Craggy Island.....😉
You make some interesting points, but could he really withdraw from Ukraine without it widely being perceived as an absolute PR catastrophe for him? Without going all Godwin, he strikes me as a Hitler type figure who cannot withdraw from anywhere.....the Fuhrer practically banned the words 'withdraw' and 'retreat'.
Something like this?:
"The European Union must move towards the creation of an EU army after Vladmir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, Emmanuel Macron has said.
The French president said EU leaders would meet to discuss plans to pool military resources on March 10 at a summit in Versailles." https://politpost.com/2022/03/03/emmanuel-macron-steps-up-eu-army-plan-to-deter-russian-threat/
We can’t, you will be the first crying when you have no power to cook your potato waffles.
There's info coming in that the Ukrainians may have made sporadic attacks on the Kyiv convoy, and may have done so from the air. If true, the balls on those pilots
If you're suggesting that Ukrainians should start targeting Russian civilians, I think that's a terrible idea. If you're describing insurgent attacks against Russian troops on Ukrainian soil, that would not fall under the definition of terrorism.
3 Ukrainian AN-32P aircraft sent to Stuttgart, which appears to be pricipally a fire bombing aircraft. I wonder if that's connected with the nuclear power station problem?

Watch the 3 hours of footage and come back to me.
It started with Ukraine defending the plant.
then Russians gained access.
At this point tanks and infantry came in. They then sat firing rockets directly at different buildings.
likely a commander advised the troops to stop firing at the reactors when they realised they could be risking WWIII and possibly destroying their own people/land.
There was one video on Twitter last night but you can see the line of reactors and you can see the bullets like streams of light heading in the direction of the reactors. This was recorded from someone’s phone in an apartment which looked quite near the reactors but maybe it was fake. I somehow doubt it. These Russian troops are clearly thick not sure how you can give them so much credit as if they are strategic in what they are doing. Children with out of date military equipment playing COD in real life is what we’re actually witnessing mate.
Do some research first before making an idiot of yourself on the Internet.
The majority of our gas comes from the Corrib.
?
Ukraine are fighting a conventional war. If it prolongs and their armor/vehicles decrease they'll probably have to rely more on infantry attacks
Whatever happens, Russia will accuse these fighters of being "terrorists", "ISIS members", "Neo-Nazis", etc. They will also manufacture/amplify Ukrainian atrocities as part of their propaganda playbook.
All the more reason for a no fly zone and if they are gonna go using nukes for sanctions then why not let NATO loose on their advancing columns
What makes you think that??
They left Aleppo (Syria) in absolute ruins after 1 month of sustained heavy air strikes. They dropped massive (200-500kg of explosive) unguided bombs including enhanced blast, fragmentation, and concrete-penetrating bombs on Aleppo. They flattened it. They even did 'double tap' bombing on that city and there wasn't half enough outrage about it.
However they have not used their massive air strike capability in Ukraine yet. It has been all ground artillery and missiles to date. They have used attack helicopters and some short-range fighters but not their long-range attack aircraft and bombers. They probably fear the Ukrainian air defences still because they don't have the intel or accuracy to knock them out. They had complete air supremacy in Syria. I read somewhere they have 300 such large bombers near the Ukrainian border but they have yet to use them.
Why do you think they will 'use the Syrian playbook'?
Did Israel help Ethiopia?
There's a reason Russia has not used the full might of its airforce in Ukraine. Ukrainians can shoot them down.
They're still in the 'softening up' stage using artillery and missiles.
Yeah I have always felt that the military leaders will take over if Putin goes too far. Hopefully.
You do realise that in the (unlikely) event of a full-scale nuclear war breaking out, we are all fucked? The survivors will be learning how to plant potatoes during a nuclear winter.
Looks like I was right, Putin is going to threaten to Chernobylise the biggest nuclear power staion in Europe unless the west stops sending supples. Western Special forces need to be sent to that plant now - today - and stop them before they have finished mining the place.
Does the US not see that the amount of radiactive material released would possibly affect the US and it's food production.
As I said, Putin is a sociopath. The entire northern hemisphere might have no option other than to eat radioactive food rather than no food.
Um, did you miss the biggest refugee airlift in history at the time?
I'd like to believe that's the direction towards which we're moving.
You'd like to think so, mind you, these are the same military leaders that are enabling him to do what he's doing now so..... hard to know if its because they agree with his strategy or because they don't have the backbone to go against his decisions....
Moscow stock exchange to remain closed until at least next Wednesday
Lets hope they have the know how to operate them.
They were moved to Poland last week, they are firefighting water bombers.
Your final 2 cents?
Why are you being recalled to Moscow?
Every time I see a Russian tank cooking, I get a little buzz. Then I have to stop myself and realise that there were probably a bunch of 19 year old Russian boys who hadn't eaten for 3 days and still thought they were on some sort of 'peace keeping' mission.
It's really important to remember this and not to 'cheer on' war. Even though we all want Ukrainians to succeed and that can only happen by killing the enemy.
