Complete domination and subjugation - if there's any infrastructure left standing and working that would be a happy accident, but his primary objective is fear and division. In Russia, in Ukraine, and in anywhere else in the world where someone might take an interest.
Large problem with that if Ukraine "take one for the team", Putin knows he can do what he likes because the west won't stop him. The only question to ask of Putin then is where is he marching next?

Perhaps but we are utterly behind Ukraine in this. We have to accept we are a 5million nation and do not have military might. Of course we could have a pretty superb military as some are suggesting but it would cost multiples of millions which we don't have. Personally I don't believe I have ever wished death on anybody but I do wish death on putin. In terms of stopping this war , one of the Russian demands is that Ukraine never join NATO. What if Ukraine were to agree to that and no NATO forces were to set up in Ukraine but that nato reserved the right to defend Ukraine if it comes under attack. If Russia is acting in good faith it shouldn't have a problem with that.

Russia can reach anywhere on the planet with its nuclear arsenal if it wishes. That's part of the reason it has continued to get away with all kinds of **** over the years; and one of the big reasons why NATO is terrified to engage it in conventional warfare.

Why would we be safe? If the nukes start flying it wont take a lot to trigger a Nuclear winter. We don't have to be hit by a nuke to be completely fvcked.

With todays news of fighting around one of Europe's largest nuclear power plants I think the reason to halt Russia now are more than obvious. Russia doesn't have to launch nuclear weapons to create a nuclear catastrophe in Europe and the World. Even without this threat the fact that civilians are now being massacred by the invasion force in this illegal war should be enough to trigger at a minimum a no fly zone.
I sincerely believe that if Putin isn't faced down now then other European countries are going to face the same treatment from his evil regime.

To be fair I'm pretty sure the Invasion 101 playbook calls for important infrastructure such as power to be captured or otherwise destroyed as early as possible.
Indeed Israel has directly bombed and destroyed nuclear power facilities in both Iraq (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Opera) and Syria as recently as 2007 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Outside_the_Box).
Indeed also why wouldn't they attack the Capital city of an EU member state? They have 6000 of them, but even if only 1000 are operational or ready to launch its not like they cant afford to attack little old us.
I cannot understand how we went from the USSR time , when everybody was ‘equal’ with its state farms , etc to , in a short few years, we end up with these extremely wealthy oligarchs. HOW DID THEY MAKE THEIR MO NEY????. When Putin wants to go back to the USSR position does this include everybody being equal again
That's just how war works (apart from the chemical part). Iraq and Afghanistan know all about being razed to the ground. We just didn't hear as much about it because it was always disputes as propaganda, exaggerated, and as time passes they'd admit to a hospital/school sustaining minor damage because of its proximity to a target. I sat the Russians dismiss damage to a hospital in the same way this week. Said it was near a target and sustained some shrapnel damage.
Same thing as usual, we're just getting the propaganda from the attacked people rather than the attackers, for a change.
Our neutrality has protected us, most signicantly from the worst of the carnage of World War 2.
It has been a logical and honourable policy that will continue despite the infantile fantasies of some internet rambos.
We're about as likely to suffer a conventional military action by Russia as Tonga is. Hence, we have exactly as much business joining NATO as those islanders do.

Theres few people Pukon will listen to now- I don’t even know if he’ll listen to China either but it’s worth pushing for a resolution through them (which I know sounds mad)
