He had a certain fan base here and some weren't gone on him.
He disappeared very fast last year and now he's about to sue Twitter.
17 is the age of consent , 18 is the age of majority.
A “child” in your eyes, an adult in the eyes of the law. If you don’t have an issue with the age of consent, why have you an issue with someone who has reached that age exercising their legal right? You seem to be trying to deflect from the fact that there is nothing legally wrong with having consensual intercourse with a 17 yr old. Though it may be distasteful, you seem to be tying yourself up in knots trying to distinguish between legality and your sense of moral injustice, the second is subjective, the first is not.
Part of the issue is who he is.
He was a teacher and involved in the Media.
Also, he also portrayed himself as some of perfect man over the years.
So, it's understable people will question him and his suitability for certain positions.
Do you think he should be back on radio and tv as the self proclaimed spokesman of woke and me too?
I hope so. Might hold a mirror up to those who followed those ideals.
And this is why I don’t see a way back for him, even if he has technically not done anything wrong. Because of how he positioned himself in the media and was the spokesperson du jour on all things woke, he created a persona for himself as this holier than thou perfect person who always had something to say, especially when it came to issues like Me Too. And right now there are too many uncertainties surrounding him for him to be able to take up that position again. He is better off just away out of the spotlight.
I would think theres practically zero chance of him being back on telly or radio in all honesty, a 27 year old having sexual relationships with a 17 year old was always going to be enough to end that.
I’d never heard of the guy so not sure what he brings to his listeners. He isn’t the first to be caught not practicing what he preaches so I’d reserve judgement until we find out a little more about this. I think it would be unrealistic to think his career will not be affected by these allegations, so whether what she claimed is true or utter fabrication, can’t see him recovering fully.
It seems like a lot of these woke people turn out to be not so holy. It reminds of those gay-bashing preachers in America who get caught in gay brothels.
I don't know the whole story. But my 2 cents:
Hypocrites are everywhere but it's not a crime.
17 is an adult in the eyes of the law?
Can you show me the law which specifically says that?
I'm not trying to get the law changed.
Are you ok with a 27 year old person having a physical relationship with a child? I'm asking for your opinion, not what the law says.
Again, you're deflecting and acting like I'm taking issue with something that I'm not.
I forgot this was a discussion forum and that having opinions on whether or not it's perfectly fine for a 27 year old to have a physical relationship with a child is ok wasn't allowed because the law.
My posts are about his actions, not hers.
Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 2006, Section 3 (irishstatutebook.ie)
I was 17 when I entered college, wasn't 18 until December of that year. Was I child ?
I did not know he was a teacher
What’s the legal age of consent? Or are you saying our laws support sex by children?
Am I to believe that what happened happened but under the law she is considered an adult? or everything is a lie?
Legal age of consent doesn't define an adult under the law.
Don't you know this? I can show you two acts which specifically define a child if you're having trouble understanding this.
His Wiki says he intended to become one, I don't think he ever did.
Well done, you showed me the law for the legal age of consent.
Where does that say a 17 year old is an adult, or that a 17 year old is not a child?
She was a school child.
Thank god.
I love the way people are trying to give others a lecture on the law and they don't have the first clue about it or know how to read a piece of legislation properly.
If I'm not mistaken some of the allegations were to do with his stint in secondary teaching and his attitude to his female students.
here's an article confirming he did teach and that he would like to go back to teaching if his media career ever went pear shaped.

Agreed. A bit like Mr. McDermott the woke , me too crusader lecturing other men on how to treat the ladys and then tbis comes to light.
Ive no issue in saying she was wrong to say she was underage. But his actions were still dusgusting. 17 in school. 27.
If my school going 17yo old told me she had sexual relations with a 27yo i wouldnt be happy. Nobody would.
Exactly. Not sure why he's being so public now as though he's been vindicated of everything. Association alone with accusations is not good, innocent or not.
It's like the controversy a few years back over a certain, completely innocent, minister for children seen with a man who advocated for years for lowering the age of consent to 14. Has he done anything wrong no. Does it look good - no.
"There's also a lot of guards in my family," he added.
It is in this article. Interesting....
Exactly this.
But according to some here, the law says a 17 year old is an adult so that's what you're dealing with.
