It's amazing to see the amount of volunteers from other countries that are joining Ukraine's foreign legion. Hopefully they can have some sort of a positive impact.
That's going to cause problems in Iran! Ahmadinejad has gone waaay off script there. The Iranians are Russian allies. He knows what he's doing here. Cheeky!
If there were ever an example of how utterly clueless the Russians are at optics, never mind basic norms of a free society, there it is.
They don't need optics, they live in a dictatorship, and a soon to be tinpot dictatorship
That account has to be hacked.
Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov was sanctioned by the European Union on Monday. Two days later, Forbes has learned from three sources in the yacht industry that one of his prized possessions—the 512-foot yacht Dilbar, valued at nearly $600 million—has been seized by German authorities in the northern city of Hamburg.
The ship has been in the Hamburg shipyards of German shipbuilding firm Blohm+Voss since late October for a refitting job. Sources who spoke to Forbes said that the German government froze the asset and that, likely as a result, Blohm+Voss employees who had been working on the yacht didn’t show up to work on Wednesday. Representatives for Blohm+Voss and Usmanov didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
Usmanov purchased Dilbar in 2016 for a reported cost of $600 million from German shipbuilder Lürssen, which custom-built it for him over 52 months. The firm calls it “one of the most complex and challenging yachts ever built, in terms of both dimensions and technology.” At 15,917 tons, it’s the world’s largest motor yacht by gross tonnage, and is typically manned by a crew of 96 people. Dilbar boasts the largest swimming pool ever installed on a yacht as well as two helicopter pads, a sauna, a beauty salon, and a gym. Its plush interiors have more than 1,000 sofa cushions and it can host up to 24 people in 12 suites.
Those were in the Caucasus I think, down Grozny way.
I’m clueless about Iranian politics but is this guy high up in government (or whatever constitutes a government over there)?
If that's what's happening. But I suspect the dominant emotion for the prisoner at not being harmed and being permitted to phone home is relief.
That column is stuck unmoved for more than two days. Zero progress. Various sources have said that supplies are stopping it moving. Gas because it's a supply column.
And it's being picked off in parts.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad supporting Ukrainians to live freely, without persecution from an unwanted authority?
Who'd have thought such an irony would ever exist.
Must be why the Russians were so keen to hang onto Chechnya so too
Not anymore. He used to be president (second in command to the Ayatollah) He feels hard done by because the Ayatollah basically got rid of him and replaced him with Ebrahim Raisi. Ahmadinejad has tried to make a comeback but has been blocked. I think this is his way of embarrassing the Ayatollah and the Iranian regime. It's his 'payback'. Won't go down well, but not execution worthy either.
It's nearly like Putin is trying to get the Ukrainians to destroy the convoy to use a pretext to flip the propaganda switch to "Look what they did to thousands of our boys for trying to help".
Aside from fuel maybe they have asked to be supplied with field rations that didn't expire seven years ago.
Zelensky has aged 10 years in a week. Poor bastard looks and sounds awful. Stay strong!
Carrying the weight of this on his shoulders, he's turned out to be an absolute legend of a leader
Does that include postage ?
Speculation that Russia might impose martial law, a sign of nerves from Moscow
Not sure if this was posted already,
Putin's head just got a price tag.

It would be nice to think that in such a scenario the current sanctions would remain in place until the seized territory is vacated. Otherwise it's just a validation of salami tactics, and Putin could be expected to take a trip back to the buffet with his plate ready for some more.
Zelenskyy is effectively acting as the leader of the free world, on the front line.
His resolve is admirable.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was President of Iran from 2005 to 2013. A couple of days ago, he claimed that Zelenskyy's refusal to take the offer of safe passage to the US was somehow proof of collusion between Russia and the US in the whole affair. He's also recently claimed that the prospect of Ukraine joining NATO is somehow because of a "tripartite agreement" between the US, China and Russia.
He's not the full shilling.
That's the lady who tore Boris a new one.
Romanian Jet crashes and helicopter looking to find it crashes also.
This pretty much shows how weak Russian forces are in reality, in contrast to what many of us believed them to be.
Don't think there's much oil in Chechnya. The Soviet oilfields in WW2 were in Baku which is modern day Azerbaijan, different country now.

Doesn't seem like the act of a man who feels he is winning does it? I am praying that if the Ukrainians can just avoid surrendering something will crack in Moscow.
I was going to say he was on the sauce but given that it’s Iran, I doubt he is. Of all people to tweet support for Ukraine, he wasn’t one I expected.
