Horrible attitude. I'm not sure why you would expect ordinary people, living their lives with their families to suddenly turn to violence. most parents want what is best for their children, most people would think getting them out of that situation would be best.
The Taliban are actively searching for those people who worked for the previous government, military, international organisations, were schoolteachers etc etc. Why are they looking for them? Maybe they want to give them a medal........

I generally don't interact with you, but this is nonsense. The Taliban has about 60/75,000 fighters in Afghanistan according to western intelligence agencies. Afghanistan has a population of 37 million. If they weren't cowards they'd absolutely destroy the Taliban. In our own recent history, ordinary people, living ordinary lives took up arms to drive an occupying force out.
I’m talking about the thousands and thousands of military trained men in Afghanistan, as well you know. And yes, at least some ordinary people there could have taken up arms. Have you not seen Ukraine where that is happening? Where ordinary people are making Molotovs to use against tanks and APCs? Where young and old women are learning how to use AK-47’s?
Young men of fighting age should have stayed to fight against the Taliban. They had the numbers, the armed forces and the weapons to do so. But they ran.
And if it happened here? We don’t have access to arms that the Afghans had. But if we did, I’d hope Irish people would stand up and fight against an aggressor. My grandfather fought to free Ireland, and I would do the same if it came down to it. I’d rather die, than be a slave of an invading army.

They are fleeing from a tyrannical militant government who wish to kill anyone that they believe lived a western style life, or for any western organisations. Are you for real that you think Afghanis should stay there, when they have taliban hunting for them, torturing them and killing them? Are you actually serious?
And just fyi, men aged between 18 and 65 or thereabouts, are banned from leaving the Ukraine. How would you feel if it happened in Ireland?

Having interviewed victims of war crimes, I have no issue with anyone escaping from war. Horrible situation to be in. I would never judge anyone trying to leave a near certain death, most people would agree with me.
If everyone had your attitude Putin would take over all of Europe, thankfully they don't.

Also, should we look too at famines in the Congo, South Sudan, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger… over 100 million people impacted by these famines…. Repatriation of some of those people ?
we literally cannot solve these problems, we can do a ‘bit’ but we need to remain vigilant that we enable the wellbeing of taxpayers here…before anyone else.
