I'm not sure of the veracity of this, but if it's true, they are admitting to some things:
"Russian Defence Ministry: 498 Russian military killed in special military operation
Ukraine's losses during the Russian Federation's operation amounted to more than 2,870 dead. Conscripts and cadets of the Defence Ministry's educational institutions are not taking part in the operation in Ukraine, the ministry has assured."

Take with a pinch of salt, but according to US experts the Ru convoy north of Kyiv has stalled due to logistics and supply issues, and that the Ukrainians are starting to pick some of them off
Chinese UN representative made quite the statement "We must respect other countries sovereignty", I am sure that will come back to haunt them
Yes indeed. Russia is likely going to lose EU as a customer in the short to medium term, and have to switch to BRICs countries
Can be done, but not overnight obviously
Of course international relations are fluid & subject to change, but seriously! supposed national news journalists are asking what China might be thinking about events!
Apart from watching and making notes to not repeat any obvious errors if they decide to take Taiwan.

And very recently
Beijing, China Feb 4, 2022
In a joint statement, the two countries affirmed that their new relationship was superior to any political or military alliance of the Cold War era
"Friendship between the two States has no limits, there are no 'forbidden' areas of cooperation," they declared, announcing plans to collaborate in a host of areas including space, climate change, artificial intelligence and control of the internet.
Specifically mentioning inter mutual support on Ukraine and Taiwan.
Just in case not so clear.
Maybe they see a chance to push back and get out from under the scum?
I’d say more broadly the shrinking Russian population really bothers Putin and his cronies;
Given it’s vast geographic size. It’s about twice the size of the U.K. or France. Covid had a massive impact which would leave one to believe the general health of the population must be very poor once you get down to the ordinary working class that can’t can’t afford foreign medical care.
In the USSR days they were close to matching the USA on numbers. Now they’re distantly behind. There’s less safety in lower numbers.
I'm sure most Russians will just keep plodding along with their usual fatalism and or/cheer for Putin as restoring Russian national pride while he turns Ukraine into a European Syria.
It's the intelligent minority there you feel sorry for. Navalny today calling for Russians to rise up and what's the response? F*ck all. Wouldn't surprise me if Putin takes this chance to deal with Navalny once and for all while the world's attention is elswhere.
Well Ukraine are waiting 33 years they deserve it,the have been making changes and progress in reforms after the Soviet union and Russian puppets ran the country into the ground while billions flowed directly to Moscow
I have to say I disagree with you about WION on satellite - they are one of my go-to media outlets and their hatred of China is refreshing and their expertise and coverage of Afghanistan, Pakistan, the Taliban and anything else in that region is streets ahead of any other media outlet.
India is very reliant on massive quantities of fertiliser from Russia.
Why is Georgia risking being brave? They could surely get pummeled too?
President Isaias Afewerki would say they pressed the right button, Putin wannabee.
What's been happening in most towns taken by Russia, is the people have resorted to protests and blocking Russian trucks by standing in front of them. Futile really.
We haven't really seen much of the molotovs or engagements by ordinary citizens with their newly issued rifles. There's a chance Kyiv could go that way too.
I never said they did. I'm only pointing out that they hold a lot of US debt which, if severe sanctions came in, would be rendered worthless.
Think of it as being like the old saying that if you owe the Bank 10 Euro it's your problem. If you own them 10 million, it's their problem. China might not be as gung-ho to pis$ off the West and you think they might. Given the virtual unanimity of support for strong sanctions against Russia, it is not a huge leap to conclude that another country that comes to their aid might get hit with similar.
That's a fairly pro Russia twitter account you are using to dump tweets from here.
Eritrea is basically the North Korea of the African continent I think. Very brutal dictator.
OK it is that unique slant The Mail loves to use but reported in Telegraph as well, with their login demand for quick peeks.
Did the Eritrea representative press the wrong button?
Although at least Assad and Kim will be delighted to have a new playmate in the 'worst countries in the world' club.
Disappointed to see South Africa abstain.
Another problem for them is that their media is claiming that the invasion (or "special operation") is going swimmingly well and yet we're into day seven and no major Ukrainian city has fallen yet. One wonders when it starts to dawn on people in Russia that they have a problem on their hands and this is no Crimea.
It's a really tough call. Look at Britain.. they have hosted all sorts of political oddballs and outliers over the centuries as a matter of principle. They have survived and are proud of that tradition.
Ah lads...
More details on the restrictions imposed on shipping
As of right now, 6 of the top 10 shipping companies in the world are participating in restrictions on shipping to or from Russia. Expect that number to grow.
On Tuesday, MSC, Maersk and CMA CGM — the top three liner companies in the world — temporarily suspended Russian bookings. Yang Ming, the ninth largest, suspended Russian bookings on Wednesday; ONE, the sixth largest, on Sunday; and Hapag-Lloyd, fifth largest, on Thursday. These six carriers control 62% of global capacity, according to Alphaliner data.
This applies to anything that is not food or medicine.
Its been especially quick for russian oil with virtually all tankers ceasing to trade in it.
In addition, the UK announced already that it was closing its ports to any Russian shipping. These restrictions "include vessels flying the Russian flag, registered in Russia or which are owned, controlled, chartered or operated by a designated person or by “persons connected with Russia”.
The Baltic states are pushing for the same sanction to be imposed EU wide
As to the impacts of all these restrictions/sanctions, they are going to be far reaching across almost all aspects of world economies. Its telling that leaders are aware of all of this pain coming down the road and yet they are going further and further with these sanctions.
It doesn't carry much clout, but it shows Russia that most of the world are against their invasion of Ukraine
None of the current sanctions stop China buying cheap oil from Russia.
The look on the Russians faces said it all
United Nations vote condemning the invasion: 141 (including abstentions) to 5
The 5 voting against: Syria, North Korea, Eritrea, Belarus and of course Russia
Any source of that? I found that they admitted some losses, but no number were given. Ukrainian side is telleing of something close to 6000 of dead Russians.
And if you or I tried to do something similar in Moscow or Beijing you can guarantee that you would end up on a prison for spying with no evidence to defend against the claim, but yet we allow it and across the eu ,
That completely wrong imo
And there's no such thing as Ukrainian propaganda right?
