How did I miss that Legend of the Galactic Heroes is back?
I tried to watch it but about 2 minutes into the first episode I had to turn it off because for some reason Netflix subtitles insist on replacing last names with first names (western name order) and it throws me off hearing one name and reading the other.
Has anyone started watching Kakegurui the live show version on netflix beyond me? I watched both seasons of the anime but they done a normal series out of it now instead that's following the same format but fills out parts differently. I esp. like how they have handled the whole "thinking part" of the anime where a lot of the story is playing out.
Yeah, if you go to premium membership status in your settings you should be able to change to an annual plan.
They've kind of hidden the €40 annual fan plan on the sign up screen only showing the monthly fan and mega fan plans and the €65 annual mega fan plan. The €40 sub is still available by switching from the monthly fan subscription after signing up for the trial.
I see CR have copped on to the existence of ad blockers. 😅
Is there a yearly option? Mine's €4.99 per month. Still the UK would be about €20 a year more expensive than that.
The only positive I see is that premium is reasonably cheap here at €40 a year, it's over £70 in the UK iirc.
I don't know what the ads were like elsewhere but I only ever got "get CR premium" ads before before I subbed to premium.
Seems like Crunchyroll are pretty much nuking the ad supported streams with all Spring 2022 shows being premium only excluding the first 3 episodes of the titles listed in the article below.

In a move that will shock no one, now the CR/Funi merger is happening Sentai are removing all their content from the platform to stream exclusively on HiDive.
Eighty-six is back this Saturday with the last episode the following week.
Been a while since I used hidive but last year that only worked for videos in app. Not when they were casted to the screen.
You can change the colour of the subs on Hidive, the option is under your account details on the menu.
Hidive is fine on PC and in app but the last time I used it with chrome cast it used yellow subs only which is too old school for me. Shame since they have a good few shows I would like to watch.
I planned to watch it on PC. I'll sign up for the free trail and watch as much of the stuff I want to as I can near the end of this month
Just be prepared for how bad it can be. There are no console apps except Xbox, which works but is not great.
The mobile apps have streaming issues over Chromecast (first gen anyway).
My advice would be to use a web browser for playback if you don't have an Xbox.
That reminds me I have to sign up for Hidive for Takagi San season 3.
There is still some competition, but only from Netflix and Sentais(now owned by AMC) Hidive and the amount of anime they have is miniscule in comparison.
You could add Prime Video to that list but 90% of their stuff isn't available here and the only new content they've had in the last year are the 4 Rebuild of Evangelion movies.
I did prefer CR's interface, plus it actually worked for me most of the time, but the lack of competition isn't good.
The Funimation catalogue is starting to be migrated over to Crunchyroll with Funimation Now(and Wakanim for Central Europe) ceasing to broadcast new content, except for continuing series, as of the Spring 2022 season. With both now being owned by Sony Crunchyroll will be the branding used for all Anime content released digitally and physically.
I have started watching Attack on Titan Season 2
I watch one or two other episodes a week
I’m interested in seeing the two live action movies but I don’t want to spoil anything in the TV series
Are the movies a different story or Should I hold off on the two films until I have finished the whole series ?
That stuff will end up at J-Novel. Kadokawa bought them earlier in the year and are more focused on digital releases.
I don't think this is great tbh. Japanese companies tend to use agencies for translation work which can often result in bad or stiff translations since agency work encourages a race to the bottom. As others have said they own Yen Press so I think it'll just be a dumping ground for stuff which may have some dedicated fans but not enough to justify a print release through Yen Press.
Humble Bundle currently have a massive Nisioisin bundle available atm if anyone want all of Monogatari and a bunch of other things.
I have to wonder if the first author/artist to use it picked it because of the name.
Isuzu know how to market their vehicles. The truck that started a thousand isekai stories.
Don't speak a word of Japanese myself, but this is a "How it's made" video published on YouTube in December 2020 about the cult classic AKIRA
Get your favourite Japenese Beer out and watch!
Takagi san is getting a third season, in January, and a movie, sometime next year.
The standard edition is now available on the Anime Limited webstore, £50 ex VAT.
This version contains the Netflix dubbed versions of the series, Death(True)² and End of Evangelion.
Zavvi have leaked the CE for Evangelion. Seems it's going to be an Anime Limited webstore and Zavvi exclusive with an rrp of £125. Appears to have both the Netflix and ADV sets with Death(True²) and End of Evangelion.
