Someone was tweeting a few days ago about the EU sending fighter jets to the Ukraine which was bollix.
Situation in Kherson still unknown
" The regional governor of Kherson said overnight that it was surrounded, under fire, and Russian troops were looting shops and pharmacies.
An adviser to Ukraine’s president Zelenskiy, Oleksiy Arestovych, said street fighting was going on in the port. He said on Wednesday morning:
The city has not fallen, our side continues to defend.
In a set of televised remarks, Russian defence ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said:
The Russian divisions of the armed forces have taken the regional centre of Kherson under full control.
He claimed public services and transport in Kherson were operating as usual, and that talks were underway between the Russian army and local authorities.
But the city’s mayor, Igor Kolykhaiev, appeared to contradict the Russian army’s claims, saying that Kherson remains under Ukrainian control.
Kolykhaiev said in a Facebook post:
We are still Ukraine. Still firm.
The mayor said he needed to find a way to “collect the (bodies of the) dead” and “restore electricity, gas, water and heating where they are damaged”, adding:
But I warn you right away: to complete these tasks today means to perform a miracle."
The good thing about Ukrainians, is they have very few of your type in their ranks.

I've said it before here. Maybe they'd rather die than be enslaved? They have a Patriotic love for their country and are willing to defend it to the death.
The Afghans lost 1-2 million people in a war of attrition against the Soviets, and ultimately the Soviets fled the country defeated. The Afghans broke the Soviet Army and this led to the end of the USSR.
Make no mistake about it, Putin will go down in history like Leonid Brezhnev; a leader who brought down his own country through foolhardiness and ego.
Ukrainian men and women are choosing to fight for their country, not give an inch if they don't have to. If the Russians do somehow prevail (I don't even know how that would work), then I suspect the resistance will never stop.
As an aside, I'm really not a fan of the EUs role in pushing Ukraine more and more to the EU. And I don't want anyone telling me I'm pro invasion or blaming the EU for Russia invading. Of course I am not, Russia was completely wrong and evil to do it.
But...the EU need to realise that Ukraine, like it or not, has big historical and cultural ties to Russia. There's a significant population of people there who are pro Russia.
Have a look closer to home in Northern Ireland. One "side" obviously has the majority. Yet do they go all in on either side? No, they worked something that satisfied both nationalists and loyalists.
The EU are no angels, they want Ukraine because they know it'll piss off and weaken Putin.

It's essentially the geopolitical version of a bully at school that picks on someone over the years then eventually starts a fight with them and realises that they've had enough of their **** and they'll go down swinging if need be. All they have to do is look across the border at Belrus and see how it's citizens are treated, worse than Russians and the Russians are treated like **** as it is. They'd rather fight for the possibility of avoiding that fate than accepting it.

But, there's a difference between a pro Russian government (who, incidentally, are ready to fight the Russians) and a puppet government. Try using democracy against a puppet Russian government. You'll find you'll get as far as, 'What do we want, and when do we w...' before you find your arms behing your back and up by your collar bone, and you'll be lucky to see the light of day ever again.

There are several videos of people walking up to and around the wreckage. It is not from last night though, the wreckage in the video was a convoy that got destroyed on February 27th. One of the videos shows some of the vehicles in the convoy are marked with a V which means it was part of a Chechen unit.

Sorry but this is stupid. Europe isn't trying to "piss off" Putin. We've experienced this stuff before in our history and it's deadly serious. We have an aggressive nuclear armed Russia invading a European country, and if they succeed it would put them up against the borders of Poland, Slovakia, Hungary - all of which have a history with the Soviet empire, an empire which an aggressive autocrat is clearly trying to rebuild (and rewrite history)
As for Ukraine having plenty of ethnic Russians, yes it does, are they welcoming Russian forces?
