The longer it takes for Russia to win the more likely Putin is to be deposed due to russia not being able to afford this war for much longer and it makes him look weaker day by day. If Russia step up to more aggressive stance like openly carpet bombing cities and civilians its more likely the russian people will find out and be horrified leading to his being removed as well.
Hear hear
Trump did far more than that he had frank and open discussions about leaving NATO entirely.
I dont know why people are celebrating the Ukraine military success and the Russian arm not doing so well.
Surely all the means is Putin using stronger bombs? So if the invasion is not successful his attitude is all or nothing so he will simply level the country.
So to avoid military escalation surely best option is to save lives and just surrender to him?
The West can't do much more than they're doing.
Best bet is to try to get support from within Russia and Putin is removed or pressured into change?
Slightly uneasy that this stuff is being done so openly. Aren't these transactions supposed to happen on a deniable need-to-know basis.

the 'vici' brand is owned by vici group in lithuania, they have factories in crimea and donbass area and are refusing to stop manufacturing there, claiming we shouldnt mix business and politics.
Thats all
Trump wanted the Europeans to pay for their own defence. Something that is now happening. America was footing the bill to protect Germany, when Germany is a very rich country. Now the war is near, the Germans announce 2% GDP spending on military which is what NATO nations are supposed to spend. All Trump was doing was asking Europeans to spend the money they committed to spend but were hoarding and letting the US pay for them.
Trump was right about this as well as Nord Stream.
I have been glued horrifically to this thread..I cant quite comprehend what that evil gnome is up to and i agree with all the above. The devil is on the door of these Ukrainian cities and my heart is breaking for them.
I wish all these posters trying to give the opposite side of the story would put their energies into contacting any friends, family or people they know to let the general Russian people know that their troops are not on a peace keeping mission like they are being told by their government.
Change has to come from within Russia if there is any way to stop this..we need thousands upon thousands on the streets protesting.
Let them know the truth ffs...
Your veil has completely dropped by the way.
The Russians have been pretty loose with intel about this, we have even intercepted comms with the Chechen leader demonstrating he knew about the attack a week in advance. The Russian battle plan appears to have hinged largely around a quick shock and awe campaign that would collapse the UA govt and overwhelm any resistance. They came in from all directions, they tried dropping paratroopers at select locations within Ukraine, they used a "shock and awe" campaign, everything really points towards a lightning attack that has slowed/stalled
Where is your source that the Russian military can sustain itself for only 10 more days?
Russell brand’s overwhelming theory of the world is that you aren’t happy, the reason you aren’t happy is authoritarian figures. It appeals to a lot of people who don’t want to actually ask themselves hard questions or engage in geopolitical analysis.

Yes, based in Damascus, but travelled all over ( isis permitting) Latakia, Tartous, Aleppo, Al-Sweida etc. was there from 2013 to 2016, 2.5 years total. Humanitarian. Nicest ice ceam I have ever eaten was in the Old City bazaar, have you been in it? and seen the tomb's of St.John the Baptist and Saladin in the Great Umayyad Mosque of Damascus. They are neighbours.
I worked in England for a decade. First in a working class environment and second in a middle class office environment. They both knew nothing about Ireland/NI but main difference was the middle class ones knew that they knew nothing about it.
The squaddies i worked with in the first job, one of whom was deployed to NI during the troubles, had some idea but it was very narrow and deep. They all assumed the republicans were the cause of all the trouble in NI and were pretty shocked to find out about the DUP after the 2017 election.
I didn't hear much support for all of Ireland being part of the UK. More support for giving NI back to ROI. Off topic though
The mainstream news organisations here, RTE, BBC, Channel 4 SKY news etc are not engaged in propaganda. They are reporting the news. This forum is talking about a singular issue the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and for me there is no grey area, it was an unprovoked, inhumane assault on a democratic country that was not posing a direct threat to Russia.
There is a discussion to be had on how exactly the west should respond, serious escalation to a nuclear attack whilst unlikely is at least a possibility. The fact Putin even mentioned the word "Nuclear" is despicable and shows he is a monster. No country should countenance the use nuclear weapons unless under attack by nuclear weapons.
I get that the west especially America have done plenty of abhorrent acts over the years, but this issue is about Russian aggresion in Europe which hasn't happened at this level since 1939.
I'll put it like this, we know more than most how brutal the British Empire could be. The French also commited terrible crimes in pursuit of Empire. However in 1939 they were fully justified in going to war with Hitler. I can hold both opinions.
And yes Putin = bad is an entirely correct angle.
If you see a country that has the same person in power for over 20 years, especially one with real size and resources like Russia, then there is something wrong.
What did I just read 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Very difficult to get exact info, usually that only comes after a war. The Russians are tight lipped, and the Ukrainians are obviously inflating figures for morale purposes, however independent sources, e.g. the link I provided earlier, that only counts losses confirmed by video/photographic evidence, are showing that the Russians have lost significant amounts of armor (hundreds of military vehicles, tanks, etc)
Indeed some Russian army groups are gradually moving in, but that stretches their supply lines and they are doing so at a crawl in many places, could be that the Ukrainians are luring them deeper for strategic reasons, or that the Ukrainians are just taking a far more defensive posture. If the Russians can fly safely over the skies they can really do some damage, but so far they don't seem to have air superiority, and there are floods of anti-air missiles arriving from Europe, so hopefully that will stave it off.
Snipers can single handledly stop convoys or armour or large troop formations considering now they operate and kill people are distances of over 1 mile airstrikes are only available if you control the skies ,the Russians Learnt that the hardway in Finland ,and today's snipers and better equipped and trained then the WW2 ones ever were
Snipers can keep on the move and if there's enough of them they can do a lot to slow the invasion. Time is not on Putin's side.
Because the goal in war is not to make it last as long as possible, the quicker its over the less it costs in both lives and money. Putin may not care about either right now but he will soon definitely have to start caring about the money because if he cant pay to support and supply his army which he is barely managing to do anyway then his army is next to useless. BTW the 10 day thing was being reported on Saturday so its hardly the latest news.
US intelligence. The same people who said that Russia was going to invade when most people were sure they weren't.
Trump also cut funding for NATO, it's almost like....
Performative "both sides"ism is deeply tiring.
No, you can not trust everything you hear or read. Yes, you should treat all news with a degree of skepticism - even those with the best of intentions will struggle in such an environment.
However, once side is undertaking a full scale invasion of a peaceful neighbouring country, encircling their cities and shelling them all while claiming that they aren't. So its not equal.

They have national service in Finland. Those who do military service are then put into the reserve (iirc) and have to spent something like a week every year doing drills. Also, read up about the Winter War with the Soviet Union. The Unknown Soldier by Vaino Linna is a really goof novel based on it. The Finns are more than capable of holding their own against a Russian threat and they'd display similar fortitude to that of the Ukrainians.
A good friend of mine is Finnish and has been telling me that he feels sad for doubting Russia all his life and it can be seen that he was right all this time. He's also saying that this has halvanised support for joining NATO and a public petition to discuss it in parliament is quickly going to get the necessary signatures.
As a southerner I have the same experience in mirror in England. Never once anything remotely hostile bar slagging which you give as good as you get!
Neither does Biden!
