Hey Eskimo - we spared a bit during the UK Election 2019 - glad to see we are probably on the same side on this one -
IMHO to say Zelenskyy is impressive is an understatement - his brave stance, standing on the streets, refusal to budge an inch. And refusal to leave as so many other leaders would under these circumstances - very impressive - 'I dont need a ride, i need ammunition' - very impressive - I would go as far as to say he is the spearhead of the Ukraine's PR WAR - which they are most certainly winning - and this is what has captured the hearts, minds, money, and now military hardware of Europe and the west - Bravo - Slava Ukraini
Like all social media - people here are generally savvy enough and have enough independent POV information to be able to take SM content with a heavy dose of salt in contrast to the content of state run media in Russia or similar
As to the rest, I reckon a lot of that is allowing an overactive imagination runaway in a futile attempt of whataboutery. But you are correct the Russian narrative is already falling apart and will continue to do so.
Looks like best case a lot of Ukrainian prisoners of war about to be taken in Mariupol 😕

Would have been less insulting. Maybe they will light candles while he is butchered along with his people. The west dont care about him or his country and putin knows this now
They cannot control all the information channels. The images and commentary will flow west to east. The question is how long it takes to overcome the propaganda machine.
The Ukraine is a sovereign country. If it wants to join Nato why does Russia think it has the authority to stop it or invade it
Look if you have any sympathy with Russia you should be sent home. Iritates me Russians who won't condem Putin are allowed stay here or in the west.
Does Yandex have the equivalent of Google Reviews? It reportedly has 60% of the market share in Russia.
What do you expect? Sitting in silence?
Sorry I am wrong and you are entirely right. The Russians are committing mass genocide against Ukranian citiziens and blanket bombing Ukraine cities as I speak. There will be 100s of thousands killed as these cities are reduced to rubble while the world stands idly by.
I will not challenge the prevailing narrative from now on. I will also become hysterical.
There's a grain of truth in your argument but it's also a nasty little argument which ends up in talk about "alternative" facts and "you have your truth, I have mine, let's agree to disagree".
Fact: Russia is waging an aggressive war against an innocent country, slaughtering citizens, and Ukraine is merely trying to defend itself. You can spout all the sh*te you want about "ah yes but who's to say what's the real truth?" and it won't change the facts.
Yes he got a great standing ovation
Zelenskyy is not a fool.
He's a leader; a real leader. Staying with his population whilst its democracy and country are under sustained attack.
And he's being supported by the West in substantial ways.
What the hell are you talking about?
Volodymyr Zelenskiy urged the EU to 'prove that you are with us".
EU lawmakers, many bearing the Ukrainian flag, gave Zelenskiy a standing ovation
LMAO he is pleading for help and they give him a standing ovation. The fool is learning the hard way about trusting the west
This is a very cool tracker of equipment losses on both sides based on verified photos. Only the tip of the iceberg really, and for obvious reasons seeing far more of Russian losses, but it's a good resource and extremely in-depth.

Not talking about Ukrainians in ireland. Talking about the Irish hard men and women who throw out mad ideas like sending Irish soldiers over there. The same would jump out of their skins if they heard a tire blow out.
Is it just me, or does Lukashenko always come across as incredibly stupid and aloof?
By dictator standards, you'd wonder how the chap managed to get as far as he has.
Well, in Grozny , the Russians discovered just how useful tanks and APC's etc were when they took them into the confines of the City. They were destroyed completely. I wonder have they forgotten that experience? In Afghanistan and Syria, Roadside mines, IED's and VBIED's took out a lot of armour. And not to mention the old reliable, Molotov Cocktails. Will be interesting to see first, how many tanks etc. get to their destination, and how many survive the 1st week ( never mind the weeks / months ahead )
But in the meantime, this convoy ( which will most likely be split up ) will be capable of of levelling cities.
Twitter is heavily restricted in Russia and their answer to Facebook, VK is state controlled.
Alisher Usmanov (of Arsenal and Everton fame) who is on the UK sanctions list has a company that owns 52% of it.
.
Maybe. But then you see people leaving the comfort of jobs and homes here in Ireland to return and try to fight for their country. It was only over 100 years ago when guerrilla warfare dragged the Brits into discussions on Irish independence, that involved assistance from vast swathes of the community as well at great personal risk.
Basically until you're in that situation you don't really know how you would react.
There are no words :(
Yeah I know. They are being told it's a peacekeeping mission in the disputed territories and also that Ukraine were killing Russians in those areas. Nevertheless we are now in the world of social media and images of Kyiv in ruins with huge casualties after indiscriminate blanket bombing would bypass all the Russian propaganda very quickly. The Russian narrative is already falling apart as it is.
This woman is a really impressive speaker for her people and the situation. I encourage to watch...
They would be as well to manage trying to conquer The Ukraine rather than looking at the next target.
Just saying most of them are full of bluster and bar stool sh1te talk
I'm afraid that doesn't really wash anymore. They are certainly aware that hundreds who speak out are "disappeared " every year and that carry on has being going on for decades. If anything good is to come from this it is that the world can now see what an evil country Russia is.
Ok, we heard you the first time ffs.
I said there is a truth out there and one can try and find it and it does actually matter what it is, not that I know all of it or I can find all of it. I don't have God delusions, am only an ordinary person thousands of miles away. You seem to admit there may be objective facts we can know here despite the remove and also a "fog of war" or whatever... "I presume the headline things like the invasion, the people fleeing, the maps we see if controlled areas, the convoy heading to Kiev, are reasonably accurate."
As you say to reduce it to baby speak, Russia does seem to have sent rather alot of its men with some hefty weapons over into its neighbour who had not attacked them first (as far as I know), had not posed any threat (as far as I know). Things are blowing up there (maybe spontaneously, but coinciding with arrival of all these Russians) and people are dying and running away from it into neighbouring countries.
I have never claimed to know the facts about the day to day details of what is going on during this war between Russia & Ukraine or who is "winning" etc., which of the events being reported are true/false in the "reality" we should try and get at. I read what is here. I read/watch the news. I haven't commented at all on the ins and outs of the war (the fighting/actions by each side) in this thread as I consider that well beyond my ken, so why would I?
What I have posted about mostly was what I though was a distinct bogus-ness in various pre-war (before Xmas last year) Russian "stories" about what they were doing and why and what they wanted (other posters were giving Russian perspective), and also, after war began about how Russia's justifications for launching it appear very, very thin. Non existent one might say, such that it is a war of aggression / a conquest.
edit Before the war was also disagreeing with those who expected a non existent Western (esp. EU or German) response to an invasion by Russia and the claims that, even if it occured, any response would have no effects on Russia at all.
You can reply to this if you like but am probably not going to say much more in response as it is feeling a bit self indulgent debating this stuff on this thread + am sorry I directly "poked" you by being sarcastic when I read your comment. I should have just ignored it.
I am guessing this has been posted....Lukashenko doesn't strike me as the sharpest knife in the drawer....but it indicates Russia might make a move for Transnistria/Moldova
It's all bolocs and a distraction from real news
They're all getting in for PR that's what's theydp
