Fair enough.
Clear sign of dragon at 7s they were trying to take out.
Moldova... Finland... revisit Georgia...
No chance he might have tried his little green men strategy in Estonia or Latvia if he thought NATO and the EU rolled over on Ukraine?
I don't think Russia can conquer Ukraine.
Afghanistan brought down the Soviet Union (in part) and there were no smartphones then and the people the Russians were fighting were very foreign.
Good to see someone has a direct line to Putin's mind...
From BBC
An average of 50,000 Ukrainian refugees are entering Poland each day, which so far has taken in over 280,000 people, according to the UN.
At the same time, however, thousands of Ukrainians are leaving Europe to return to Ukraine and join the fighting.
Among them, many women, determined to bring their children back, who are stuck in the cities that have been invaded by the Russians. Some of these women told me they are even ready to take up arms.
"Can you stay focussed" on the one-sided narrative running here, you mean .. like a continuation of the Joe Duffy show just finished
It is a tragedy that is unfolding in Ukraine but it is not as simplistic as the "all-knowing" posters here paint it
A little bit of balance is what the lady introduced. No harm in that. US has dirtied its hands in Ukraine also. There are no saints
For a nobody - tail between the legs "neutral" country - we sure got a lot of armchair Generals on here
What is wit the
'' we'll search high and low to see if war crimes are being committed''
Don't they have social media!!!
What is this only the killing of innocent people, the invasion of a sovereign country
Russian living in Ireland here, a bit familiar with Western and Russian propaganda. There is no goal to kill civil Ukrainians intentionally. If there were, we would not see a ground operation.
W.r.t. "careful/worse killers": Yugoslavia was bombed by NATO for 78 days killing ~500 civilians (not the best source: wikipedia). I think Russia has enough bombs to run a similar campaign flattening major cities, minimizing Russian losses, if they wanted to. Yet the actual casualties remain to be seen. There is a lot of BS nowadays from both sides.
Jesus your translate language inserter is all over the shop 'John'
Who made you God observing all of this from orbit of Pluto or reading a history book from the future and weighing "stories"? "The truth of the stories is not important? We just all need to know what they are?"
Do you think that is insightful or something? You've already posted basically the same thing 3 times and it just sounded like something a university lecturer (in the orts dept?) would toss off while bored the 1st time.
Relieved if true. Supplying planes seemed to stray perilously close to direct intervention to my mind.
It's an absolute disgrace not to send fighter planes to Ukraine. They will be lambs to the slaughter. Europe has been an absolute disgrace on this matter. All the missiles and weapons are no good without fighter planes to help halt the bombings. Putin is going to slaughter the Ukrainians while Europe watches on. Disgusting and depressing.
Sounds like you're the one getting emotional Wibbs.
Nope, projection on your part Ted. I'm being practical, with a sideorder of incredulity over people rushing into something unimaginable. You're putting a lot of hope on people around him would act for a start. It's at least possible now when the West that they've grown up born and bred distrusting even hating is not directly at war with Russia. If actual war is declared things shift by quite the margin and he can pull a "I told you so" to people already half believing, even fully believing their and his own bullshít. That's when siege mentality takes over and failsafes get removed from big red buttons.
And he's already being 'faced down'. He and his country are looking down the barrel of just about the largest and most widespread sanctions in world history. Their western airspace is shut down, ports are closed to them, shipping is being massively reduced, their currency is in freefall, their overseas assets frozen, their banking in disarray, their presence on the world stage very much reduced. The UN are angry and laughing at him, diplomats from many many countries stood up and walked out on his minister's bullshít, while sheering on the Ukrainian president. And all this happened in a matter of days across pretty much every single western democracy and quite a few beyond it. Even the Chinese are keeping their powder dry. Hell, even the Swiss are against him and in WW2 they backed all and nobody. Well until the Germans ran out of hard cash to pay them off. The bunch of till ringers that they are(and quite possibly the dullest people on earth). His plans for a quick annexation are in ruins, his folly and the horror of his actions are clear for the world to see and that will filter down to his people when sons don't come back and they need a wheelbarrel full of rubles to buy food that isn't on their shelves.
At the moment and since people seem to love the Hitler references, we're pretty much in the Phoney war stage. And a proxy war of which the 20th century saw many. Thankfully cooler heads prevailed back then and that's why we're still here and we don't end up in a shooting war.
I used to think like this. My Noam Chomsky books were practically see-through, every time some sh1t went down I went to look up what I should think about it. There are valid criticisms to make about US adventurism and meddling in global affairs but when was the last time a western country invaded another country with a stable, democratically elected government?
“No goal to kill “civil” Ukrainians intentionally”. Christ almighty
Yes it is depressing but due to nuclear detterance there is not much that can be done.
on the bright side, Russia as it is now is done, Putin won’t last long when the country goes into economic free fall.
Story time is over, a democratic state is being invaded by an imperialist dictator.
Moldova.
Seize it unless Derapaska can prove that the funds he used to buy it were acquired legally.
A figure of about 17% women was quote in either the UA armed forces or the new civilian militias
спасибо, Листер, в наши дни это действительно играет
Thanks, Lister, it is really playing up these days
So you're pretty much boasting that if they wished your fellow countrymen could slaugher a lot more Ukrainians! I can only speak for myself but as far as I am concerned you are not welcome in this country.
Thanks for your comment, I do agree that was likely true initially, however it seems, that as it wasnt a 24/48 hour war that Putin expected circa 2014, that all gloves and decency are gone. I think there is likely to be bloody slaughter on both sides in the coming days. Sincerely hope I'm wrong.
Not a problem, they have their own website so there is no censorship. They are free to say what they like on their own website and it remains freely available - unlike all western media in Russia, which we might as well be referring to as the USSR, given I see scant difference between many aspects of that society and it's cold war form, which I fondly remember. The USSR had a far safer and preferable leadership structure during the cold war as it wasn't a dictatorship and there were significant avenues for oversight of the executive.
Feel better after your rant? We're a nation of 5m people on the edge of Europe. What do you want us to do?
We can counter the propaganda that gets spouted on here.
We're neutral for historical reasons, and managed to get our close neighbour off most of our land (the part that remains had a majority wishing to stay) when it still ruled a fifth of the globe. We have a history of fighting other people's battles. So, away with your poxy analysis.
Hear hear!
Other than it's the wrong map, that could have been my 2nd class primary teacher quizzing us on the counties and rivers
