Maybe let them get in good and close.
Take out the front and the rear. Then they're stuck. Might need to remove some AA first. There is zero chance this has gone unnoticed.
They only have a certain amount of the Bayraktar TB2 available, and likely only a certain amount of ammunition for them. Between keeping an eye on the battlefield at all times and having such limitations, they'll need to make every shot count.
As for appearing on radar, in theory yes, they do. The question is whether their radar cross section is large enough for, say a 9K37 Buk to get a fire-control lock is a different question. The same goes for infrared and whether the exhaust gases from the engine to allow for a lock-on by say an SA-6 MANPADS.
I was just about to post about how absurdly mundane some aspects of war are(if you grew up with Hollywood movies and video games) I heard that the Ruddians took over a government building along the coast and said that they now controlled the city but that but that they could continue working. The staff left but continued to work remotely. Just a story like this is not one I'd have expected to hear from a battlefield. But then you hear of the human loss and it becomes more barbaric than any Hollywood movie could depict.
Come to think about it Hollywood movies do show Nazi's just operating in occupied cities while people live out their daily lives but I always just thought times of war were more anarchic.
Why dont they use the drones they used a couple days ago to keep them on their toes? Do drones appear on radar?
Horrific video of an elderly couple killed in their car by Russian fire doing the rounds on twitter. Can't post, too gory. Horrible scene.
The sly approach was working so well for Russia over the last decade and a half. The mind games and subterfuge were doing a decent job of sowing division in the West and allowing them some space to pick their physical battles with weaker neighbours where and when they chose without too much interference. Why did Putin suddenly run out of patience to where he's mr. Emotional all of a sudden (well, in relative terms, anyway) and go so hard on Ukraine? Why did he wait 8 years between the Donbas rebellions and Crimea takeover to go for a full invasion? He had to have thought that Ukraine was pivoting West even then and would want to have nipped it in the bud.
He's miscalculated so spectacularly it's hard to believe it's even the same person. He's making long speeches about NATO encroachment and these kinds of things, but the fact is that this war he's waging has practically united the whole world against Russia at this time. You know things are bad in terms of the human suffering you're inflicting when even China's not returning your phone calls. So that's Russia isolated on the world stage, facing crippling economic sanctions and prompting several more nearby countries to seriously consider joining NATO. So much for the 'chess master'.
I know you should know this. But, ( and I can't believe this needs explaining), up to Little Boy, WW2 was a conventional war. We were never going to be under Nazi rule. We are now in the nuclear age, the age of mutually assured destruction. Hence the long game of NATO.
17 miles of armour approaches Kyiv prayers
Yeh that’s what I think and meant. He was building up his power and army until he was able to do what he’s doing.
Hes a dictator , who relies on a ridiculously pathetic Johnny big balls image and fear in his people. A war is not bad business for dictators , it’s not bad business for any leader who wants a distraction or way to galvanise the people they want to control.
Saying “the west Created Putin” presumes his ambitions were not to create an empire and he’s been coaxed into action. So he wouldn’t of interfered with Baltic states, create unrest and just play a longer game to build back the Russian empire? I mean he’s basically said he wants to rebuild back to the 90s, so that ambition wouldn’t be there if the west didn’t do what it did? Doesn’t really add up to be fair.
Sure thing Dan, now you go first, and see what happens!!! Easy to be judgmental when you are far from danger, yet telling others who are in danger that they should be accountable for their government actions. Moscow's Stari Arbat is a far cry from Grafton street
Tidy bit of business if true
Mi5 are pretty much running these group of clowns and doing a great job of it by the looks of things.
Lovely job...every little helps!
I like that there is little talk of a coup in the media. Surely intelligence services are getting into the ear of higher up people to say you are the backed guy.
If there was no chance of a coup, I would imagine intelligence services would be "leaking" stuff to media to try and create a bit of tension, that doesn't exist.
I don't think Mick ever had an issue filling them out. Paying them was a different matter.
I think you mean Georgia? I think it was a bit reckless for NATO to drop hints there given its small size and unfavourable defensive location.
But also Russia was still recovering and had been fighting in Chechnya etc
Once Putin got them to a certain level he would have tried to get Baltic States back or destabilise them if they hadnt already joined NATO.
Vacuum bombs have been confirmed in use by the Russians against Ukraine.
Check out 2007 and some previous winners of this;
Absolutely stultifying. As recent as 2007 Putin graced the cover. I can remember well back to then and it was common knowledge even then he was an authoritarian dictator.
Did a bit of Googling there, there was a Sinn Fein rep. there at that conference as well as the thickos from the dissidents.
Questions should be asked was he a rep. gone rogue who just took a junket to Moscow, or did SF leadership know he was going. He seems like a SF no-name, but it's a question worth posing to Mary Lou McDonald et al.
Well it won't actually be obliteration but in broad terms yes. Nazis didn't have nukes, which totally changes the ball game.
I saw a guy open and eat tinned Boar war beef on one of those youtube channels, must have had the constitution of a shark.
I was talking to somebody in real life who tried to tell me that the pictures were staged……
I hope the British and Irish security services have their eyes on the activities of these bozos and are taking notes.
Probably threatened to show him how to fill out a tax return
Fascinating thread on the media war:

Whatever Putin planned for and anticipated, there’s just no way he could of anticipated international reaction. Maybe some of the sanctions but surely not them all. Main reason I think it is because of how quickly it’s escalated to nuclear war because he’s actually not getting a free ride to Ukraine.
I appreciate he’s a very clever man, but nobody can anticipate everything, certainly not it war. If he wanted to galvanise NATO, push Finland/Sweden closer to joining, force penal sanctions on Russia , force countries to risk their own reliance on the gas and European countries to prob consider its position regarding its no army or big stick policy, then fair play to him.
Some of the links provided and politicial commentary’s on why EU is so neutered, presumed there would be no response from EU and also presumed the EU wouldn’t make any changes. Also presumed nuclear warheads are the only stick that matters which ignores the fact that it’s a stick that would inflict harm on those using it.
It also presumes money can’t even out the game. While you can’t make an army in a short time I’m sure if the EU wanted it could get its hands on warheads from our American friends. The presumption is that there is just no hope for us euroweenies and we should of done a deal with Putin for peace regardless of how bad a person he is and regardless of whether he would stick to the deal.
One of the points made in one of those videos was that Putin wasn’t aggressive until 2008 when the possibility of Estonia and Ukraine joining nato was signalled with intent. The presumption is that the western countries should just of listened to Putin because he’s a serious guy and listening and appeasing him would of meant peace. It’s a very large presumption to make with a person who they admit has a very different view of the world.
I find the links to alternative views on the conflict and how we have gotten here very interesting. But I also think it shows that even very intellectually intelligent people can interpret events in a different way.
I’ve a dreadful feeling about tonight and tomorrow.
Everybody who watches that channel takes up smoking, but they only smoke Winston Salems from 1943.
