Christ. How would anyone knowingly drive a tank over another human being trained or untrained? Hard to fathom, just shows those poor soldiers are utterly dispensable pawns without so much as a second thought given about them.
Is it better to be passively subsumed into Russia or actively subsumed into Russia?
The end result is the same, but there is a lot more death down one road.
Well yes. The UN ambassador read out a load of fake texts from a messageboard online without any verification it was real.
Cool story bro.
Your posts are really top quality care, @Yurt!
The same posters that you respond to will tell the Eastern European EU countries to sacrifice themselves for the “greater good” when Putin invades then
I am free, therefore I am. Without freedom life ceases to possess any meaning
So do you support a Russian invasion of the US as well?
That is a moronic comparison. Ming Flanagan is not the head of an armed neo-nazi group explicitly endorsed by the Irish government.
From the West Point article - hardly Russian propaganda:
"The Azov Regiment enjoyed support from within the government of then President Petro Poroshenko and the security services, despite well-documented reports of human rights abuses"
Negotiations can bring a swifter end to what is needless bloodshed - in the end the result will be the same.
I'm sure the Ukrainians will take your advice to be passively subsumed into Russia with all the sincerity it deserves
Think it's funny do you?
Proof!!??, hard to imagine the ambassador reading it out to the UN if so.
They're fighting for the survival of their state and their democracy.
Easy know the people who would let freedoms and the rule of law be torn up without a shot fired. Peace at any price gave us Hitler and WW2, and this is not a Godwin, because this is the ledge we're looking over.
I wouldn't accept it in my society and I don't expect Ukrainians to accept it.
The only warmongerers on this thread are those taking a perverse delight at the prospect of a democratic sovereign nation folding under tank fire and air raids. And the Eastern flank of the EU, all of our collective security and prosperity under peril.
Ukrianians appear thankfully made of different stuff.
Is it legit?
Its a fake from 2ch lol
well, I certainly wouldn't be starting any invasions. But this was not Operation Barbarossa - parroting others here, but the nature of the invasion suggests they thought that Ukraine would roll over and happily accept them. Which is at best a pretty dodgy reading of the situation.
But, even if you can argue an invasion is rational if he wants to add Ukraine to Russia - how is that in and of itself even a sensible idea? I am admittedly surprised (and pleased) by the level of sanctions but it was always going to hurt somewhat. While he may not be "mad" he appears disconnected from the world.
An attack on Belarus is an attack on Russia, no state would be dumb enough to do that with the threat of nuclear war hanging overhead.
I get the parallels some people see to 1939, but do you really think it will go beyond Ukraine? Putin can and will not attack any NATO or EU member as that leads to nuclear retaliation and the end of Russia (and most of the civilized world). NATO cannot put boots on the ground in Ukraine either for the aforementioned reason. All they can do is supply Ukrainians (and unofficially supply volunteer troops). It won't be enough to win the war, and will just result in thousands more dying.
Negotiations can bring a swifter end to what is needless bloodshed - in the end the result will be the same. If anything the fact that Putin only holds less than 1/3 of Ukraine right now would be a negotiation point for the Ukrainian govt, but as Russia advances further and further into the country their negotiating point gets weaker.
Read out by Ukrainian ambassador to the UN, my God.
I see.
Vladimir Putin says and Vladimir Putin is an honourable man....
If he supposed to have said to Macron that they would stop killing civilians, that is an implicit admission. It's so easy to let the mask slip and the truth out. No excuses.
How the hell can they enter the negotiations in good faith when the Russians are using cluster bombs against civilian areas?
Yep, it's like looking at Ming Flanagan and stating the Irish government are a bunch of pothead lefties.
It should include access to the black sea. We are constantly giving Putin the advantage of being the aggressor, the price for aggression should not be just retreating back to previous position, he should lose something significant, otherwise there is only incentive for future aggression.
And where are these people who would love to see Ukrainians kill themselves? Because the only ones I see are warmongerers who would love Ukrainians to fight until the last man even if it will accomplish nothing.
Unfortunately I suspect Putin is more likely to escalate attacks on civilians then the reverse given things have not gone as he wanted so far. I hope I am completely wrong but I think that may very well be coming.
Flown out via China or Turkey, if they can get some pilots into the country, that is...
Genuine question - do you see Ukraine winning this war?
While I would like them to, I dont see it being realistic. If there isnt some negotiated ceasefire, this could go on for weeks and months even with 1000s dead.
did you see who the main funder of Azov is? strange times we are livng in when a Jew is funding neo nazis.
Besides a full reclaim, I think a return to status quo but with international peacekeepers in the "disputed" areas where they could carry out proper referendums in the future could be the very best that Ukraine could hope for (theoretically). Obviously in reality Putin would never accept that.
And how exactly do they plan to get them back?
Maybe not so positive...
Absolutely you give an inch to a dictator like Putin he will take a mile. Best way to deal with a bully is to face them down. Yes the nukes complicate things and make it more scary but he will just keep acting the same way if we don't. At the moment Paper Bear has been weakened and it is the time to deal with this regime.
