More difficult and inconvenient. But certainly not “nightmarish”. I’d personally put my safety above some flight disruption.
If we just sit and blindly believe all propaganda we would be sitting here scratching our heads wondering why Ukraine arent winning this war with their ace pilots and super soldiers - if you believe the lies then discussion is pointless because you arent even dealing in facts anymore.
It is support for a country in Europe being invaded.
"fast-track" is also something completely without definition. It does not mean they will join tomorrow.
Russia are isolated and denying 36 countries access to their airspace, this will make travel across the world nightmarish
Sanctions are one thing. Members of the EU saying they want Ukraine fast tracked is nothing but an attempt to rile Putin up while not following EU membership process.
I've seen a bunch of Russian news reports and if anything it has just given me a better idea of just how little reliable news is officially available to the Russian people. Nobody casting a critical eye on this **** would be fooled by state-sanctioned news items when we have access to counter-propaganda here that Russians may not have easy access to. It teaches people not to buy into the information overload.
Probably an agreement done behind the scenes to quietly forget about the recent Swiss Bank leak
A supranational trading bloc with strong governance and financial oversight, but more to the point is involved in massive support for its members. Ukraine joining would be a massive drain on the communal funds, and would give Europe no extra access to the natural resources of Ukraine, nor control over them. It is a stupid throwaway comment that makes no sense, looking for nefarious motives when the actual motives are completely clear.
And your solution to that is?
Oh bogoff with your Putin enabler shite. Read throughout my posts here and you'll see I don't support it.
But I can't support the EU going out of their way to piss Putin off. They know why Putin is the way he is and they're making it worse!
Answer the question, why are the EU so desperate to have Ukraine in the EU when they're almost as corrupt as Russia themselves. I support Ukraine joining the EU, as long as they follow the same criteria as everyone else and join for the right reasons.
Just out of curiosity, if you're that worried about the prospect, are you taking contingency measures in the event or just hoping to go quickly with the bomb?
UN General assembly live.

Hopefully if nothing else there can be widespread condemnation and unity against the Russian & Belarusian invasion.
The Santa analogy is a little disingenuous.
What someone considers a white lie in this horrible situation, someone else would consider blatant and unacceptable propaganda.
I think that in the absence of the possibility of being handed nothing but facts of what's going on, only allowing propaganda from one side is dangerous.
I do understand where you are coming from though, I just disagree.
If we aren't being told the truth, I would rather hear all lies.
In Micheal's case it's just bandwagon-jumping and appealing to the domestic audience.
However measures like this are more likely to worsen the situation - not just in the immediate, but longer term as well.
They are taking a hard stance on Putin, nothing else works.
Even Switzerland are dropping their neutrality to face this
It's of no value at all, and it ignores the real risk of nuclear weapons being deployed against NATO and the EU.
No they haven't (I should have been more clear on that) but it has been mentioned as being looked at. But it intrigues me that little is being reported on the status of their navy. ( I have edited my original post to include potentially (reported to be considering) blocking access)
Comes across to me like 'What would you expect?' sneering at the Western liars and charlatans, not sure if it's a pose or how he truly feels. Possibly clutching at straws here, but her certainly doesn't seem literally unhinged in that video, in the way you have to be IMO if you were seriously thinking about dropping the big one.
Yeah, maybe. Also looking at that ridiculous meeting he had last week where he held a mock conference of his government to make sure they were all on board with the invasion. That involved Putin at a desk, and everyone else bunched on the opposite side of the room.
Covid concern, perhaps. But you could also look at it as Putin having zero trust in anyone around him. Many dictators had assassins in those closest to them. Hitler most famously came really close when one of his generals placed a bomb in a suitcase beside him at a conference table.
If you were Putin, you too would likely be super paranoid about assassination attempts, and one good way to protect yourself is to put 3 metres between you and everyone else at all times.
Clearly they didn't share your view nor Rumsfeld's for a very long time. Their approach they have reasoned was in dialogue and obviously in their economic clout. I see no conflict in that approach whatsoever and this latest decision and I fully understand why they chose to do so and why they took such a view of defence spending.
How many posts are you going to make about this topic, and ignore all the responses to it?
And now you're throwing in conspiracy theory nonsense about natural resources.
How are they 'fanning the flames'? Ukraine are facing an existential threat because Putin sees them slipping from Russian puppet to making a free choice to align with the West. EU leaders are doing this now because Ukraine's future is either free and Western oriented, or under the Russian jackboot. That doesn't apply to Serbia and Albania.
You condemn Putin's invasion right?
lol you seem obsessed with me, clearly
Pretty sad of you to make light of children dying as being "permanently de nazified".. I think I'll leave it there
Come on, tell me what the EU is so?
Exactly, why are the EU trying to fan the flames? What good is going to come from that? Only bad will come from it.
I'd imagine they've decided that they're not going to let Vlad slice up Europe piece by piece.
How does that make you feel?
The Swiss have decided the risk of Russia using nuclear weapons is unlikely. For whatever that is worth
You're a Putin enabler, and toying with conspiracy theory (resources)
"Whatabout Serbia??" - Serbia has a rather large Kosovo shaped problem between it and the EU
"Whatabout Albania??" - Albania and North Macedonia are coupled in the accession process, Bulgaria is stalling N Macedonia's accession for political reasons (chiefly what they see as anti-Bulgarian sentiment in the country)
You're welcome for the lesson
I cannot agree with you when you say 'lies are lies' because if we follow that logic to the letter, we should start a campaign to inform children that Santa is not real. This does not really happen, so therefore I think there is a tacit acceptance of noble lies - 'white lies' as they are called. Propaganda to raise morale I would consider a part of that.
Onto your second point about it being important to have a counter balance - I would be more inclined to agree with this if it were not for the situation at hand, but we've kind of crossed the Rubicon at this moment in time. There is a war going on. We're not directly involved, I know, but we can at least shut out a channel who's aiming to diminish Western sympathy for what's happening to Ukraine.
There'll be time to pick it all apart later and look at it with a more dispassionate eye, unless the worst predications come to pass, in which case I'll trade you a handful of copper wire for 1/3rd of a can of rotten baked beans.
Honestly, so what? Are you suggesting just letting Russia do whatever the hell they feel like? Otherwise why keep bringing it up.
any decisions he takes from that point forward will not be entirely rational
Have they been rational thus far?
He has long passed being rational.
but honestly little to nothing on this outside of Turkey blocking off access to the black sea
Turkey havent officially closed off access through the Bosphorous yet have they? Googling only says they have declared situation in Ukraine a "war" which gives them the option of closing access.
Galway Beo recently published this on their website, showing the scale of the damage that nuclear weapons would unleash in this country. You can wish it away and say there's little to no risk, but the risk is extremely real and very imminent.
Ah yes, Galway Beo that hard hitting publication full of journalism, has looked up an online "nuke map" and stuck one right on Shop Street.
Please take a break, you are embarrassing yourself.
