A source of soon to be very cheap oil and gas.
Will you give it a rest ffs.
They have increased the level, like going from defcon 5 to 4. They haven't increased it to its highest level. I believe there's still 2 more ready states to go.
China will undoubtedly pick through the remnants of Russia if they can but they should be as terrified by putin pushing the nuclear war button as much as anyone, even if no nukes drop on their territory the number used elsewhere could easily trigger a theorised global Nuclear winter
Look at the woman at the very end. That is one unhappy panda.
Something that has been intriguing me in all of this.
We have a lot being spoken of about Russia and their ground troops etc.
But they have a substantial Navy along with a decent chunk of submarines.
I would assume if they have upped their Nuclear readiness a chunk of the navy is in strategic international waters atm (but honestly little to nothing on this outside of Turkey potentially (reportedly being considered) blocking off access to the black sea)
Agreed. I assume they have infilitrated, have leverage (a degree of power and control) over, and/or are snooping on the top echelons in Russia and would help take him out if it came to that and if that's even possible. It would seem to suit China to have Russia broke, weakened and divided.
Reminds me of this
Looking at the size of the ridiculous table some people are claiming its a statement of power but all I can see is a man utterly terrified of covid or other diseases.
Wouldn't a perspex screen be so much easier that the long table? We have tons of them spare now.
It's a misanthropic seating arrangement.
The photo ops of Putin talking to his ministers, etc at the end of a very, very long table aren't doing much to dispel the whole unstable dictator vibes
She is the head of the Russian Central bank there was a statement from her earlier about the 20% hike in rates.
Quite a lot of Russians will buy into the lie that Putin will put out that Russia is under attack from the west by the sanctions .The chances of somebody near to putin taking him down seem very remote unfortunately .
Source?
Back to the tried and tested
From the BBC:
"After some soul-searching, neutral Switzerland will adopt all EU sanctions against Russia."
The Swiss finally found their souls then?
That's the central bank head, she is not having a good day.
That would be him admitting to being scared of covid.
Two more ready states isn't that many, and do we know what system Russia uses - the equivalent of DEFCON? Otherwise we're just guessing.
Furthermore, it's not just about readiness level.
Putin could decide to unilaterally launch nuclear war against NATO and the EU; he doesn't need to wait for readiness levels to increase.
On three occasions in this conflict, Putin has raised the spectre of nuclear war - and we shouldn't take it lightly.
Galway Beo recently published this on their website, showing the scale of the damage that nuclear weapons would unleash in this country. You can wish it away and say there's little to no risk, but the risk is extremely real and very imminent.
That could be a bit of dick swinging knowing the Ukrainian delegation will be flying to and from that border by helicopter
Talks are over. Now wait to see if anything comes out of them .....🤞🙏
We get it, can you calm down with this nuclear hysteria stuff, and showing the effects on Ireland
Sky news just reported that the U.K foreign ministers words are what upset Putin and escalated things.
She's giving a statement later.
Also people in London at the foreign legion office trying to sign up to fight in Ukraine.
Another EU leader essentially saying they want Ukraine fast tracked to EU membership.
Why are EU leaders fanning the flames? Why are EU leaders accepting of a country that has high levels of corruption? Does the EU show as much desire to accept countries like Albania and Serbia who applied for membership a decade ago?
I wonder would it have anything to do with Ukraines natural resources??
Russia has a number of territories in the far east that have "ethnically Chinese" populations in the same way that Ukraine has "ethnic Russians". And likewise China has "ethnic Russian" populations. It's a bit of a sore point. If China wanted to force a Russian withdrawal from Ukraine without being seen to be directly allied with the West, they could easily start making troop movements over there, deliberately leaking rumours, etc.
This would give Putin impetus to withdraw troops from Ukraine, redeploy in the East to protect Russian sovereignty, without losing face.
There's nobody sane on the planet who wants nuclear bombs dropped. Even if their use is limited, the environment, political and economic fallout will be enormous.
That's largely what the case was during world war 2 was. Russia Today are banned from broadcasting in the EU but Iranian propaganda networks are also banned, for like a decade. If you're that bothered you're free to go to Russia Today's website and read their propaganda.
round 3 beginning shortly
I think she's the head of the Russian Central Bank
I think Belarus will be getting the boot in, nasty regime there, very sycophantic to Putin.
