Must be why the Russian troops have stopped advancing...
Getting north of Crimea was crucial to unblock a canal that feeds Crimea, apparently it cost Putin billions. Thankfully that canal would be pretty easy to block again.
"I've got 'em right where I want 'em, surrounded from the inside!"
Bit like the Ukrainian attitude except across the general population it seems
Once Putin is perceived as being a liability to Russia, his position suddenly becomes very vulnerable. He took a massive gamble on Thursday morning and it seems to be backfiring.
So a guerilla style approach whereby ukranians target the russians on their own patch is off the wall? Id imagine its being actively considered. It has been done plenty of times in plenty of places
Ukrainian president would want to be mad to go meet them in person, zoom is available, they'll just grab him and kill him .
cry me a river “killer” katrin.
Zoomski
Maybe she can spend all her new non onlyfans spare time , educating herself on why, this is the case , her and about 100 million other Russians .
I saw young people being interviewed today without fear (or police listening)in Moscow on Sky or BBC ,and they’re generally “sort of against war’ but they really haven’t a clue about the extent of what their government is doing.
They certainly wouldn’t have been at all bothered about it for months ,without severe sanctions and no atms ,but reality is going to hit them like a train this week.
maybe then the questions will be asked .
Exactly. Western sympathisers call them innocent. I think they are ignorant at best. Causing financial carnage will be critical to over turning putin from within.
Its crazy how 1 person can cause such concern on a global scale. Al Baghdadi and his crew had an ideology and brain washed others so they were never on their own. This is different, all Putins billionaire buddy's who are immersed in western culture must know that this invasion is ridiculous, however be that as it may, surely when he starts talking about nuclear they are not stupid enough to not do something in the background to remove him. Surely they know there are no winners in nuclear.
I guess the Russians need to rearm/refuel and gather troops for the next push. I think we're just used to getting so much info, but the (current escalation of) war has only been going on for less than 4 days. Most wars last a lot longer than that. So I'm just saying it doesn't necessarily mean something strange is going on.
Putting the squeeze on Russian **** banks
To be fair, the same argument could be levelled at younger people here too, or anyone not particularly interested in politics or current affairs generally.
It partly explains why the likes of SF are so popular in that demographic for example.
It's because you're slappers.
Does anyone find the way RTE present global affairs strange. I don't know I watched this video and they just present it so, I don't even know the word is, but like they could be talking about a tribunal or water charge protests. Maybe its because I associate them with everyday news whereas when major events happen I watch more international media.
Ouch. Are you trying go detail this by turning into an anti SF thread?
If their plan was to link crimea and donbass, this would be easily done in 1-2 days max with all their troops they used. Of course some sanctions from eu and others, but it would be done and dusted.
Maybe the plan was to invade all Ukraine, but all miscalculation of logistics, Ukrainian resistance and shark sanctions from eu, forces to stick with land corridor to crimea only??
Who knows...
Uh oh. Hope that doesnt mean a nuke is coming.
Putin will be dead in the next couple of days.
Poisoned with the news of having a heart attack.
Ruble down 30% and the markets have not even properly opened yet. Stock prices have been hit but will be expected to plunge when the market opens. A lot of powerful people may be seeing their wealth halved in the next few hours and they won't be able to shift it to foreign accounts. Along with what might be a run on the banks in the coming hours.
Nope but it's a fact. Those who are not interested in these topics will only be aware of main headlines and more influenced by populist pronouncements which are similarly light on detail.
Id imagine putin is playling silly beggars. The sanctions are also starting to bite hard in the asian markets.
Halved and still frozen, not all but still
RTE is a very parochial outlet generally. That's probably the feeling you're getting from their coverage there.
Or they are just sick of getting screwed by the same goverment over and over again. Its that simple really. Thankfully we have a choice though.
If the deal is
don't join nato, and live in peace, then surely it's enough for Ukraine to accept it.
What's the benefit of putting nukes in Belarus? Would it give them any extra targets in range?
How long before Russia would try again though?
It really is ominously quiet tonight.
