I have to be honest. The thermobaric weapons are scary.
So, thats the end of the world in 6 months,
A coup in Russia,
Rashford being outed as a crook/paedo
GB news being a legitimate news channel.
Any other predictions for us?
There is a lot of paralells Ive seen drawn with the Treaty of Versaille post WW1. Conditions created this huge vaccum of power that the Nazis filled. They scapegoated the Jews starting off. Ive never seen a situation like this conflict where there is so much uncertainty over the actions of the aggressor. When you face a hostile enemy, there is a degree of military intelligence that gives an indication of how they might act. The swiftness of attack, the hit squads looking for Zelensky, weapons from the EU, nuclear threats and almost 350,000 refugees and this is just day 5.
Today I found myself (Im a grown man of 39) in tears looking at the footage today of those in Ukraine seeking to flee and been made refugees. I work sort of in that area so I feel I can help in some way or play my part but its moved me like nothing before. Ive been to conflict zones just after they after a few years come out of the worst of it and become peaceful - mostly as I am intrigued .
The world doesnt make any sense at all...
The central bank is on the banned list plus Federal reserve, Bank of England and ECB have restricted clearing of the respective currencies. Will make it hard, nigh on impossible, for russia to sell its foreign currency reserves in the volumes needed to support a freefalling ruble
Impossible to negotiate with a deranged dictator, but you know that already.
Hopefully the Chinese now turn their back on putin too. Im getting the feeling we are into the end game for Putin here either way. I think the troops being pulled back is actually him withdrawing as a result of the roibles starting to tank. Watch this space. Europe have called his bluff without the Americans. Air support now and plenty of weapons coming in. He knows he cant win.
Europe abu
link to this?
Perhaps he wants Russian troops out of the way before dropping a nuke on Kyiv?
This was reported yesterday and he appeared beside Putin today. Seems to be rehashed again today. No evidence to support it at the moment. There's a lot of misinformation from all sides so I'd be sceptical.
6 months you say.
I'm ok for Cheltenham then... and I'll use the wife's birthday money as she wont be needing a present in September.
Whats Biden doing here? Get on the phone with Putin and come up with a solution. Like we just going to go tit for tat and fight till we see nukes? Is that your solution Yurt?
The problem though is that by action we provoke Putin. We are playing a dangerous game but we're probably damned if we do and damned if we don't. The EU has truly stood up. Amazing!
It’s a partial ban of swift…Germany still has to pay for gas to keep the lights on
Norway's Oil Fund is pulling its investments out of Russia. They currently own $1.3 tn ($1.300.000.000.000) in 47 companies, mostly ol & gas.
“Given how the situation has developed, we consider it necessary to pull the fund out of Russia,” Trygve Slagsvold Vedum, the Norwegian finance minister, said in a statement.

Escalation? Id argue its not going far enough. A dictator threatening nuclear war. Now thats an escalation.
Why don't you just ask the Ukrainians to cut their own throats altogether?
Yes, on the night Kyiv will be hit with airstrikes by the Russian airforce, the means to defend themselves is the escalation. Of course.
Drop the mask, say what you mean, and mean what you say.
legit peacekeepers like the Irish.
It'll be Hinds, Mig's and Sukhoi's from Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria et al painted in Ukrainian camo and markings.
The yanks are a disgrace btw. Like WW2 they are going to be caught sitting on the sidelines for far too long.
Some people on here speculating that Putin could be overthrown from within - is there a credible figure in Russia who could take power in that situation? Or might it end up in a brutal civil war?
The Russian playbook is wipe out all signs of life, life in Grozny, then send in your peacekeepers
This is getting out of hand. Fighter jets is a serious escalation by Europe. Hope this a joke?
I would say this will be Russia's "Shock and Awe" attack. Bombard the living **** out of Kyiv.
Similar to what the US did to Baghdad almost 20 years ago.
So the Russians are getting out of dodge before the air strikes open up ?
Thanks for that. The economy was ailing in Russia too, Could create havoc
If we avoid nuclear armageddon RTE are going to have to produce hour long versions of Reeling in the Years for 2020, 2021 and 2022.
As another Russian leader once said, “There are decades where nothing happens, and there are weeks when decades happen”.
the Russian peace keepers in the Donbas?
I see it the other way. Russians feel they have been victimised and leads to a greater feeling of a justified war amongst the populace. This in turn might create more of a narrative so that they can start to spread symbolic stories of Russian soldiers bravery in Ukraine who are now fighting against the world that has crippled their economy when all they wanted was to unite what is rightfully Russia's. . I saw a post earlier where apparently the news right now in Russia is portraying the events in very matter of fact way. Contrast that to our media in Europe where we have been hearing about great stories of bravery and heroism.
Maybe Putin doubts the willingness of current miitary leadership to implement any and all orders and he's putting in his own placemen to make sure...
