Her accent is the worst too. Can’t stand that Dublin accent 🙈
Would have been made redundant from MSD Swords with a long closure notice in 2016 and moved straight to Amgen.
Back in MSD
I agree that the show is badly edited.
Re the magically increaced budget trope: I would imagine that (and maybe I’m wrong) that its a bit like the negotiation process on Dragon’s Den – DD pitchers declare a low-ball figure on the percentage of equity they’ll give away but in reality have a far higher ceiling...producers of RtI get the house owners to declare a maximum budget for the cameras that is significantly less than they have and are willing to spend, for the drame, like. I’d also imagine the bare-bones mentions of work backgrounds etc don’t tell much, as we don’t know details of incomes over the years, savings etc, possible inheritances etc.
We don't know what money people have behind them. They might call 30k from their parents "a loan" for the show.
And you can be made redundant and have a job the next morning. I know a few people who have benefited greatly from redundancies... It's not always a case of being unemployed and having to re-skill. They never said he was out of work, and in that industry, he probably wasn't.
Received a lump sum on being made redundant, and probably went straight into a new (presumably good) job. Could’ve been made redundant because employing company was sold. Maybe he had shares in the company too. We’ve really no idea. Depending on the sector you work in, being made redundant can be a good thing.
Look around. Most second hand houses that are bought are completely revamped.
The furnishings are staged for the show. They all come out when the cameras are switched off.
Mr Sam disappointed not to see the finished man cave.
Also, was there a utility room?
And worrying about being able to furnish the house? Hey presto, fully furnished house with no explanation!
I thought I was watching Hoarding: Buried Alive at the start.
Give her a year and this wan will have the pristine new gaff packed full of shyte.
No sign of recent redundancy here

Thought it was a good job but if they had of started out with the intention of spending a million they would have gotten a lot more house for their money.
On the windows have read an engineer before saying that aluclad and salt air from the sea is a bad combination that could end up rusting the windows and its use should be avoided in coastal areas. Could be a very expensive mistake further down the line
Terrible episode, no coverage of the windows, kitchen presses, floors , appliances etc, too much about The G hotel, street Party, house in Dalkey etc
We have 25 year old wood framed ones which are still grand. Replaced the patio door with a Munster joinery triple glazed aluclad one and the quality is definitely a serious step up from the pvc.
Really during current climate I don't think so.
I know of couple whose mortgage was refused during Covid because company they were working for had signed up for one of those government schemes, not PUP but one were they substitute the wages.
To be honest company taking the piss getting free money for nothing + person's job never at risk but it messed up their mortgage application.
Meanwhile we are meant to believe by this programme that you can be made redundant , but allowed remortgage your house, take out more loans when money runs out + have 4 kids which all limit your borrowing power?
It's just not realistic.
have to say I love it - not necessarily the decor (in the bedroom), but overall its lovely. Its just so hard to jump from the shell of the house to the completed project with so little insight into how it was done.
Right down to the number of number of kids, and where there are conceived I'd say.
Plenty can and do afford it.
I can’t, but I don’t begrudge it to those who can.
The participants get great discounts for being on the show. They get better value than if they achieved the same finish without being on the show.
Yeah seems very mixed views on them. We were in new build years ago + brand new windows from them were in bits in less than 10 years, very shoddy.
It’s clearly realistic, maybe not for you. But for many it is.
It's gorgeous. And she's great fun. Husband much quieter, but a nice chap too.
I wasnt far off + 300k so it's a million euro house but sure no problem.
Just what you average family with 4 kids can afford.
Fab job.
Why is he still using Munster Joinery? We got our windows from them and during storms we have to cable tie them closed!
I take it back kitchen is fabulous + I love the spine wall/ extra storage.
€613k for a money pit,
.....not exactly pocket change!

Anyone who has done a big job on a house knows that it is realistic. There are always changes.
Sure that's gorgeous
I'm not saying the couple is annoying. Just annoying how RTE house shows always disregard budgets. It doesn't come across as realistic.
Missed a bit there. Was that Twink sitting outside?
