I agree. To and defend Ukraine against the Russian army is suicide too. And yet they are doing it.
When country like Russia has threatened the western world WITH nuclear weapons…
id rather a fighting chance in a war as opposed to not being proactive and holding a set of rosary beads….
hes showing aggression by way of words and violent actions…. His choices, how long does the west wait.
I've no doubt Fifa have took buckets of dirty Russian money. They don't want to piss them off.
good Olaf Scholz is not as toothless as Merkel
The problem is Putin seems to have no issue using them first.
That is true, but Poland has a squadron of MiG-29s that they're looking to phase out anyways. 23 aircraft that could be easily transferred as Poland already has 48 F-16s in operation. My money would be on those, or possibly Bulgarian MiG-29s.
Ireland are going to 'constructively abstain' from supporting the EU military package for Ukraine. Shame on them.
You just love saying Sleepy Joe. It immediately takes the credibility out of your posts, which tbh are generally hyperbole to the point of hysteria anyway.
To try and take him out would be suicide for everyone.
In the world.
Ukraine can defend themselves knowing Russia won't use nukes against them, there is 41 million of them, they don't seem to want a puppet in charge.
Ukraine could probably attack Russia for a bit and get away with it.
A nuclear armed country or grouping (i.e. NATO) cannot attack russia unless russia attacks it first and russia (probably) won't do that, if they do, the retaliation time is more then enough to hit them back (given the submarines around the world) but that's the end of all of us.
Of course they have....I think 30 million a year from Gazprom for a start
It doesn't matter who uses them first, the numerous submarines ensure that there will be a retaliatory strike.
Small humanitarian organization Raoul, spent a long time at it, and travelled extensively. No connection to any of the US ( or other) "Contractors,"
BRUSSELS—European Union member countries will supply Ukraine with jet fighters, EU foreign-policy chief Josep Borrell said Sunday.
Mr. Borrell said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has asked for jet fighters that his country’s air force can operate. Those planes would be Soviet-built models, mainly MiG and Sukhoi jets.
Some current EU members that were once part of the USSR-led Warsaw Pact still fly such planes or have old ones parked.
Just Roma Gypsies in Ukraine stealing a Russian tank today
Anyone care to explain the logic behind the EU supplying fighter jets? Is there the infrastructure in Ukraine left to support them? Runways, hangars, repair facilities, fuel, ammunition, etc? Are the pilots, aircraft engineers, support staff trained on them?
Providing guns or Javelin rockets is one thing - they’re easy to store and use. But combat aircraft is a completely different kettle of fish.
We'll be signing a book of condolences for Mad Vlad next when he pops his clogs.
This means we'll pay the same but it will be earmarked for non military supplies, it's sop to our neutrality but won't effect what gets sent to the Ukraine.
Do we need a referendum if we want to end our neutrality?
Will these moves just back Putin into a corner? The road to hell is paved with good intentions. I know its already hell in Ukraine but there must be a very real danger of this spiralling out of control.
Given how easily the Russians seem to have taken out Ukranian airbases this doesnt seem like a game changer?
Wont these just suffer same fate?
Honestly this is ridiculous..we wouldn't have a "fighting chance in a war". You can't take out all Russian nukes in one strike....it would be tit for tat....the majority of the world would be finished. You can't be this naive surely?!
Saw one analyst say it was for Marines from Crimea.
I'm going with it standing for Vonda.
As in I Vonda take your country
Even if we can't do much we should agree with the EU in principle.
Thanks jmr. Sounds like your professional expertise, sadly, could be much in demand now.
Where has Russia threatened to fire nuclear weapons at anybody. Some hyperbolic crap gets posted on this thread.
Sanctions against Moscow and “aggressive statements” by NATO so Putin says “our nuclear deterrent is on standby”
that’s a threat against the west by using nuclear weapons, he’s referred to his reasons… sanctions and statements… so… “ our nuclear deterrent is on standby “.. the deterrent is not because he is under attack… he and Russians are not…he just doesn’t like sanctions so he has threatened the west with nuclear weapons… meanwhile he has invaded a perfectly sovereign country.
You can watch it on YouTube currently but not sure for how long-
For me the decision stinks, have to wonder what the other members of the EU must think "if we get attacked or invaded we need not expect help from Ireland".
I'd be fairly certain we won't, if it happens.
It would be a nice option to have...
