I think 'old' is a relative term. It is true that a lot of the equipment is not up to modern Western standards, particularly in the realm of battlefield management systems or night vision, but neither are they exactly using WW2 hold-overs, or even the mid-cold-war generation equipment which was used in the Georgia conflict in 2008. Most of the equipment I've seen is genuine front-line first rate equipment by the standards of the Russian army. People expect to see tons of Armatas and Terminators, when in fact they make up a very small proportion of the force.
I seen stuff on twitter the night before it kicked off that it left the base and flew to Malaysia. I don't know if it is the exact one but it was an Antonov. It was on Flight Radar.
EDIT: it was the AN-124
Yeah I agree,he’s been biding his time getting his troops in position.
Things will probably escalate tonight.
“The white "Z" symbol plastered over the shirts has also been spotted on the side of Russian tanks and trucks.
It's thought the chilling symbol helps to distinguish the Russian machines as "Ukrainians have very similar tanks and vehicles and will want to reduce the risk of friendly fire".”
Tonite is the nite for the citizens of Kyiv, I hope the Klitschkos have their gloves off
I had same question...article on it
According to multiple sites it's where they are going. Z isn't in Russian Alphabet. https://metro.co.uk/2022/02/24/why-do-russian-tanks-have-a-z-symbol-on-them-16168206/
WHAT????????????
FFS!!!!!! GUTLESS!!!
That's if the pictures are real, have they actually been confirmed by a reputably source yet?
And then he'd almost certainly push the nuclear button.
The peace talks have begun…
Was coming. Pressure is piling on Russia.
Isn't it incredible that as we talk about the invasion of Ukraine and even a possible escalation to a Nuclear option we genuinely have absolutely no idea if we are talking about the will of one single human being?
Is it really possible that this one very strange man has complete power over what is happening?
The more you think about it the more you think how the **** could this happen? Where are the balls on these Russian generals gone? That Ukrainian Granny handing out poppy seeds has more balls than the entire Russian political class put together.
They are absolute **** cowards and that should not be forgotten in the months ahead.
Uumph, hearing lots of explosions from Kyiv right now
Battle group West, zapad being the Russian for West.
Z is a clearly defined mark from a distance which is why they didn't use the Cyrillic one
And France and the US have advised their citizens to get the hell out of Belarus and Russia..
It's not costing them 15 billion a day. They've still got a lot of the old style command economy going on and billions in gold reserves and the like. They can certainly sustain this for a month and pretty easily. How their own population feels about it? Well beyond the cities they already have little enough and a fair number survive off the land. They also have a long history of 'strong' despotic leaders who they near worship and who think nothing of sacrificing ordinary Russians for the motherland and they find a lot of oridinary Russians willing to do so. When Chernobyl went bang and they knew it was horrendous they kept that from their own people, save for the high up party members and their families who the evacuated.
As for the nuclear threats, their czar feels backed into a corner. With every twist of the rest of the world into them they''ll feel more and more threatened. I can remember the real worries in the 80's of it all going very wrong and nightmares as a kid of the bombs falling, but I was never so actually real world concerned as I am today. All it takes is one screwup, even accident where NATO or allied forces do something, like shoot down one of their aircraft, or the lines between Washington and Moscow ring out and an old man like Putin paranoid about enemies close and foriegn and that game fúcking over order could be given.
This whole nuclear option is not just a possibility for Russia. It is an option for other unstable countries, like North Korea. It is the kind of thought that keeps me up at night
It's most likely tied to certain divisions with specific objectives. If they get separated they can join back up or get group orders to go to a different objective.
Likewise, prisoners of war must at all times be protected, particularly against acts of violence or intimidation and against insults and public curiosity.
Distasteful. I mean really, what else are they going to say?
Awww the poor baby.
I got two words for you.
Соси это!
Any streams?
I believe it’s a private American satellite according to Sky News
Russian presidential elections are scheduled to be held in Russia in March 2024. Putin had better get a result before then!
New York Times have it
Camera 2 is the audio - there is something on fire top left of feed
9 Cameras of Kyiv Ukraine LIVE Camera Kiev (Ukraine border live camera) Day 3 - YouTube
Seems legit since they actually mention where the area is
We're a neutral country and the way things are going that could be more to our advantage. What we should be doing IMHO is rather than chest thumping to impress the Americans, is to offer ourselves as peace brokers with no skin in either side. Something we have a rightfully proud tradition of in the UN. This is adult stuff, we can't nor should be acting like little boys playing cowboys and indians. This is not Hollywood.
Unless Putin withdraws all forces from the ukraine the peace talks are just a distraction. Do Ukraine not have any jets that could target that convoy? Russia shoukd be made suffer for a long time to come for this. Bring their economy down for years to come. Make Moscow and Petersberg look like Grozny at the height of the Chechen dispute. **** them at this stage. Sneaky bastards.
