There have been groups there for years.
The Titushki were very active during 2014. A lot were released from Prison during the Maidan clashes to act as sabateurs.

Agreed that he is well cocooned. But he is a 70 year old man, and not a particularly fit looking one either….
A judoka friend of mine once told me that it's obvious Putin's judo is actually fairly rudimentary, and while accepting he probably achieved a blackbelt, it was achieved a long time ago and his skills have clearly atrophied if he ever was a high-level player. The martial arts master thing has been part of the image for a long time and there are probably black belts in any judo club in Dublin that would mince a young Putin. Basically, he said from looking at videos he was never elite.
Teddy Roosevelt interestingly was a high-grade brown belt back in an era when judo was a legitimate tough-bast*rd endevour more than the sport it is now. Probably would have crushed Vlad.
This is off topic, I know, but The Road was marketed as a kind of action film, but ended up being one of the most depressing films I have ever seen.
Anyway, if nuclear war ever kicked off, I might figure it would be better to actually travel to a large population centre and be killed instantly, rather than scavenge through the ruins of what was once civilisation, only travelling by night, and never lighting a fire, in order to avoid cannibal tribes.
Just watching the news and those brave men going off to fight Russia there are tears in the eyes of my wife and I as I type . What has Putin unleashed
Well it's a good job random senators don't get to make the decision then...
It's all going pear shaped for Putin
eu to spend 450 million as a block for the first time on weapons to be delivered to ukraine war zone plus another 50 million euros on medical aid .. thats not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things but it is massive in terms of being a first for the EU ..... could be a sign of future things to come...
Everyone here saying Putin is at danger of setting off the first nuclear strike, when in fact, US Senators were implying they would be willing to support first strikes from the US from the beginning of December
Also everyone here seems to be like, sure if they strike London or Belfast or whatever, we'll be ok...fact is, the minute a first nuke is set off, it's game over for the lot of us....it'll be straight into The Road territory aka Viggi Mortenson style...
Anyone who lived through the 80s will realise this point.
Sane and calm heads needed now...the rhetoric needs to be toned down all over the world...we're ALL standing on a very dangerous precipice at this very moment in time
I guess it'll have to be
Anyone know any red (and not in the Soviet sense) priesteses
Ukrainians in Ireland flying to Poland and into to their motherland to defend it against the invading thugs- absolute legends.
Actually Mike, its the size of his hands I'd be worried about..in case it slipped !!!! ( only joking Mike.....)
I'd say that no one, and I mean no one, gets next or near him without being body scanned, with something like the one they use in Dublin Airport. And even if they did manage to get someone near him, that could kill him with their bare hands, the length of the table would increase his chances of survival ( and he is a Karate / Judo expert ) And possibly, there is a sharpshooter hidden near by as well. For sure he knows very well all of the different ways to kill someone.
Demonising the White Helmets was a favourite slur by the Russians. Those guys ere heroes going to rescue people in bombed buildings. Sick to see this slur resurrected.
Russia's central bank has issued an appeal for calm amid fears that new financial sanctions could spark a run on its banks.
Rouble crossed the 1 cent line (1 euro = 100 roubles, so 1 euro cent = 1 rouble) briefly for the first time in history.
I imagine that's a euphemism for 'dodgy sh!t'?
Yes but if we give into this type of bullying he will do it again and then we are back at square one. Better to confront now, we didn't in 2014 and the current crisis is the result of that (apparently that has caused the death of around 50,000 people from a report published here earlier).
He worked in Import export I think.
Have you read the Wikileaks material?
General Valery Załużny, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, announced that 100,000 people were mobilized within two days.
Hopefully, it wont come to a nuclear war....but that assumption is based on rational people making the decisions. Now, that could be a big ask where Putin is concerned, and the signs at present are not over-encouraging, based on his recent decision making.
It doesn't help that the only two nuclear weapons ever used in anger were dropped on cities. But those cities were chosen as they could be shown to have some military value.
We will support the Ukrainian army with equipment and money, said the Prime Minister of Sweden Magdalena Andersson on Sunday evening. The government in Stockholm will provide Ukraine with, inter alia, anti-tank grenade launchers. The last time Sweden handed over weapons was in 1939 to Finland when the country was attacked by the Soviet Union. The Swedish government is ready to send 5,000 to Ukraine. hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers (Pansarskott 86), 5 thousand. helmets, 5 thousand. bulletproof vests and 135 thousand. rations intended for use in the field. Andersson also announced that the value of Swedish humanitarian aid to Ukraine will increase to the amount of CZK 500 million (approx. EUR 47 million).
translated by google, but looks OK
I would agree and hope in about equal measure. The international pressure on the gnome in Moscow, or his bunker in the Urals, is rapidly ramping up, even since this morning and NATO are in this war in everything save for actual boots on the ground. It's a very dangerous time IMHO. Very dangerous.
Even if Putin truly has gone mad and decides to launch, there are so many people in the chain between him and any weapons flying that it's impossible.
Yeah but aren't they all theoretically his underlings, making blocking his order treason/mutiny/whatever?
If you don't mind me asking jmreire, what the hell was your profession? I'm sure plenty of others on here would like to know.
apparently kyiv is surrounded by russian army all exits/ways blocked according to ukranians ... not looking good
This was a funny and slightly mental thread to come across in the middle of all this, some real aged like double cream moments in there!

100% - the threat of nuclear war has kept Europe peaceful for a very long time, everyone knows it's a lose lose game. Hence how it will never happen.
Look at historical cases from the cold war where we came close to the brink - the 1979 Norad Computer Glitch, the 1983 Soviet Nuclear False Alarm - both these instances, the person in command was told by their computers that the other side had actually launched, and yet they still did not fire back.
If people are hesitant to launch back at a nuclear attack which is already on the way to them for fear of getting it wrong, you are not going to have a situation where folks launch an attack first.
The oul swedes do be liken spreading the love, shur haven't they been doin it down in Yemen this last while, what with them bein neutral an all..follow the money innit
