You'd have to wonder just how scared he thinks people will be after two years of a pandemic? He pretty much knows that if nukes come into this Russia will be wiped out.
How many times is this headline going to pop up, only for it to backtrack again.
Yes it was, I owned a Zenith SLR and I worked on Russian electronics which I was amazed to discover was at least 10 years behind anyone else at that time.
I don't share that view. If he sarts giving orders to use nukes or other WMDs, I don't believe they would be obeyed.
There are thousands of them and some are very hardened fighters, real nasty, they have been offered 20k usd for each tank and 5k per dead Ukrainian serviceman. When they start arriving to the fight in numbers, and Belarussian forces and more (well prepared) Russian forces it's going to get harder and harder for the Ukrainians.
Russia, Belarus and Chechnya - absolutely the new axis of evil. Ukraine will be fighting all three.
Humiliated, weak, ill health probably, resistance at home and in the army.
The little man reaching for the panic button.
I think historians will write about Putins rejection of the Perestroika trajectory in favour of a return to isolationaism and USSRism, as being one of the greatest mistakes and own-goals in history.
I disagree keep hitting him, he's on the brink. He'll be having a "stroke" real soon.
Looks as if talks are going ahead, without any preconditions.
Any chance he'll be taken out from within? The Kremlin surely has a lot of marble stairs, be terrible if he accidentally fell down one of them.
And all three will be fighting all of Ukraine.
This is the video of Putin ordering the "deterrant" duties.
Now tell me, I am no expert in body language but Shoygu has a look of a man that is thinking "WTF?"
Maybe he has been getting admonished for a couple of days about the operation and has a look of a fearful dog but there was something up there.
What's the likely outcome of these talks?
Well the first batch of "tough-as-nails" Chechens and their glorious leader got incinerated quite quickly by the Ukrainians.
So if this is part of Russia's A-game I keep hearing about, it's not much of a strategy.
Apparently big motorcade just left the Kremlin, looks like talks may happen. At the Ukrainian-Belarussian border.
I would not be sending anyone high up to this meeting.
In reality very little, positions are too entrenched at present. You could probably categorise them as talks about talks but it gives Moscow a chance to pretend they are engaging and to get propaganda value out of them and it keeps the few countries who still back them, onside.
I know and am very glad of that, but the Russians and their allies will adapt their tactics and styles
The reporter on sky got that completely arse backwards. that wasn’t Helen McEntee and I just checked and the Norwegian interior minister is a male, not female.
I think they should have done that already. It looks like they haven't a clue what they are doing.
Sky news reporting Zelensky and the Russians have agree to talks to take place on the Ukraine / Belarus border. I hope Zelensky has the good sense not to attend himself, but I see this as just optics. There is nothing to negotiate, the whole war was started purely as a vanity project for Putin who wants to cement his legacy and reunify the USSR. If he gets a swift victory in Ukraine he will doubtless be emboldened to move aggressively into Moldova, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia.
Russia's long range nuclear weapons have a range of 16,000km which means if they wanted to the Russians could hit as far as Sydney Australia.
You'd have to think that any support Russia enjoys from China and India thus far would evaporate if he started nuking countries.
Russia Today propaganda tube rt.com started to use a Brasilian company services providing anti-ddos protection. I notified them about the situation - hopefully they'll switch it off.
4 pie eating dole merchants on their way home from the chippy... morto!
Fair enough, due to the speed of events I only grasped the 'one-off' €100b bit and missed the committment to recurring expenditure, which is most welcome. But praising someone for shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted isn't something I do. As for my 'credibility' I dont care. I have been ranting about how purely evil and dangerous Putin is for years and have been lambasting German's insane energy policy for months in other threads.
The Germans have been shamed and frightened into it, rather than doing it every year for the past 3 decades, like France and the UK, because they had the brains and lack of financial selfishness to do it on it's own obvious merrits. Look at the Green party in Germany right now, shutting down nuclear reactors in favour of burning gas and coal and cementing reliance on Russian gas - what do you think of that, eh?
Excellent post. On top of this think the us had known that Putrid would be invading despite his denials all along and had an awful lot of gear, intelligence, money, munitions the lot ready to roll. There may not be NATO boots on the ground there but everything else is piling in.
if that happens , its game over for everyone anyway , Putin would get taken out before that happened , most likely just tough talk
at the end of the day , China and the USA along with Russia have the ability to bring about Armageddon but as the price is so high , nobody dares do it
This kind of thing would be officials. Usually the leaders get involved much later and show up for the photo-op once all the details have been worked out.
So that politician that sky news spoke to in Brussels was the Norwegian minster of justice Emilie Enger Mehl.
Yeah, those two generals were looking at Putin as if he were a thermos of Vodka short of a picnic basket.
your conclusions and observations are false. If they had been driven by selfishness they'd still be running those nuclear plants which were in good working order and burning more not less lignite or coal from Poland. The cost of energy security with the Greens as a pressure group in Government demanding CO2 neutrality by 2045 are eye watering.
