Does anyone know if there is any sportive in 2022 that are open for sign up now
Ah if you crab back and forth both sides of the road on the climbs, you’ll get it up near 180 😁😁
(plus every spin grows a bit in the re-telling)
its a pity the ROK doesn't go out by Portmagee and over the climb to The Glen and back to Waterville via Ballinaskelligs
my favourite part of the roads down there
Linky to online payment.Payment on the day as well!
Killarney Cycling Clubs annual 3 Peaks Challenge also going ahead this year with a new date of Saturday, the 18th of June.
2 routes 75km and 100km
All details here: Three Peaks Challenge - Killarney Cycling Club
The South East Road Club 3 Peaks Challenge is a great event and has been confirmed for Sunday 3rd April .
Registration is now open
Ride dingle has sold out - I cannot make the event but they have said they can switch the name. I paid 69 inc booking fee in 2020 for it. Happy to let it go for 50, please message me if any interest
Is there no food or water provided along the route? It's only 100km but would need to start with more than 2 bottles of water if there was nowhere to refill.
edit: need to double check dates

ROK when I did it in 2016? Had closed roads at the ladies leap descent, had an ace race down there keeping up with a savage lad as I had discs compared to his skill. Used to be 180km when you went to the little island thing (valentina?), But is now 170km. Easiest 170km you'll ever do.
I did another rok event a few years ago that did this and the middle of the peninsula in a clockwise direction. It was an amazing spin. Out on the very tip there was a hill up from the coast that was possibly one of the toughest iv ever done.
Yeah. It's a crazy gradient and long too. From either side
Lovely views from the top on a nice day. Considering there are only two real climbs on the ring it'd make an interesting addition
Was that the Iveagh 200 with the Coomanaspic climb in Portmagee?
They don’t seem to run this Sportive anymore.
No i think it was called the ROK the wrong or the hard way around, or something to thst effect. Think one of the big hotels in killarney managed it and only was on a couple of times. It was on in late September.
No worries, let me know - still available
hi, if the ticket is still available i am willing to take it. i will be in killarney that weekend so would love to give dingle peninsula a go
I have an entry for the ring of beara may28th if anyone is interested PM me.
two water stops and a food stop. First water at the top of the Sally Gap, then food was somewhere outside roundwood, and then the last water was a sore point for me last year - it was earlier than signaled on a corner/descent and I sailed past it only to spend almost an hour with empty bottles.
I have an entry for the Tour de Conamara (+medium gillet) on 28th May to sell if anyone is interested, PM me.
Registered before Covid and it keeps getting pushed back, except the missus is due to go into labour at around the same time so won't be able to make it anymore.
Is your ticket still available? Tried pming you. Thanks!
It’s on 18th September this year.
Separately I have an entry for Ring of Beara if anyone is interested in this at face value.
Just sent the PM back, sorry sold there the week before your message.
This is next sat.
Hopefully the weather holds.....
I think I am driving the lead car!
Did the serc 3peaks route today, the council have been busy putting some lovely smooth tarmac down on bits that used to shake your fillings. My first big spin in too long, legs are tired now but in a good way.
Gorgeous day, probably should have worn sunscreen.
That was today?? Ah nuts. I had intended doing that. Savage day for it.
Edit eh? I just checked and it's next weekend... - You just did it yourself I guess. Right, ignore me. Carry on. 😊
From looking at Met office UK forecast the cold blast is only set to last a day or so....hopefully!!!
57km and 110km charity cycle on Sunday from Ballymacarbry, Co Waterford in aid of the Dream for Danny fundraiser. Facebook link for cycle event and for Dream for Danny Facebook page below. Strava link below also.
Nice enough route with gentle climbs of the Knockmealdown (the Vee) and also the Comeraghs (The Mauma).
Weather looks dry and should be well supported given the reaction to fundraiser in the last 6 months. Would suit those cyclist hankering after the Sean Kelly 160 days!
Same base as the Nire Valley Drop and a good welcome to the Nire Valley guaranteed
