Finland's civil legislative initiative gathered 50k votes for "Finland joining NATO". That would put NATO directly at the Russian doorstep. The 50k votes means it must be voted upon by the parliament.
Edit: the above info is only partially correct. Russia already has border with NATO, so the border would be only much longer. Also the initiative is about having a referendum about joining NATO. Thank you for corrections!
Their interweb is down
Youtube etc. next to axe RT right now. My god if the 5 minutes I saw there were anything to by they were getting ready to go in Ukraine months ago. This stuff doesn't get made over night.
Apparently 'Anonymous'* hacked Russian tv channels today... this video allegedly shows what Russians would have seen while channel surfing. (I hope it's true. It's important to get info through to them.)
*May I be the first to congratulate US Cyber Command. :)
finlandization raising its ugly head again
It's a perfectly rational decision. At every possible opportunity, and through every possible medium Russians need to be reminded of how despicable their actions are and that they will be treated as international pariahs until they can act in a civilised manner.
I’m hopefully wrong, but I’ve this awful feeling the Russians will get a massive rebound in fortunes tonight and Tomorrow. It’s just that the phrase “temporary halted” the Russians has been used a lot and it’s true. The videos of Ukrainian men and women who have signed up to defend their country is great to see.
I’ve worked/ talked to with many polish, Lithuanians, Belarusians, but I don’t think I’ve had any interactions with Ukrainians but they seem like a sound bunch.
for the polish at least Germany and Russia were held in equal amounts of contempt. One former co worker said her father hadn’t been in Germany in years, but he’d only go back if it was on top of a tank.
From Interfax (Russian private news agency): The existence of the Council of Europe without Russia "is becoming absolutely pointless," she [Russian Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Maria Zakharova] said. "Disusing European problems without Russia, what else to talk about?" she said.
Typos as in the original text.
This is hilarious or it's just my poor English? She said "we're the problem" :-D

The ballet is a prestigious target to sanction. (Not sure how vicious and uncivilized the ballerinas are, but you can never be too careful I suppose.)
Putins health probably isn't good now but it will be well and truly in the sh1tter in the coming weeks. I hope he leaks from every orifice.
I think people just want him leaking from a new orifice..... a hole in the head!
Your coworker just reminded me of a joke a Polish friend told me... You have two bullets in your gun. There's a Russian soldier and a German soldier in front of you. Who do you shoot first? The Russian because business comes before pleasure. 😮
I'm sure they can kick! The message is not for the ballerinas, it's for the ordinary people of Russia. Apparently Ukrainians are allowing captured Russians to call home to tell what's really happening. The more messages go back to Moscow the better.
Those anon lads appear to be useful, always thought they were a bit of a joke. Russian government sites down for days, military databases leaked, military frequencies jammed, russian tv channels hacked with footage of the atrocities. not bad.
The initiative was about having a referendum about joining NATO. Next the parliament will discuss the motion, but it doesn't necessarily mean a referendum will be held. Earlier in the year the majority of MPs opposed NATO, but opinions have changed since.
I personally think that covid has fucked with his mental state. I mean the massive tables imo show a very paranoid Person. Also the public appearances within the last ten days to me prove he’s lost whatever reason he had. I mean what he is doing now makes no sense.
Whatever Anonymous was 19 years ago it is now a Five Eyes op led by US Cyber Command hiding behind the image of being a "rag tag international decentralized group of hackers sticking it to the man from their bedrooms." Great work all the same.
either that or the pentagon DMed them and said "you have a blank cheque to cause as much mayhem as possible"
It is?
Can we assume the imminent air strike on kyiv has been thwarted?
I wouldn’t assume anything. There’s something happening near Kyiv.
It’s pretty clear to most people that Kyiv will fall to the Russians eventually.
I'm reminded of a documentary I heard a bit of on Radio 2 talking about hackers in France in the 80s or 90s. Pretty much confirmed stories of the government using the freelancers for hacking Algerian targets and communications etc.
Shooting forum is hotting up here on boards a poster buying mad
Chechen general Magomed Tushayev, the president’s right-hand man, killed near Kiev
Estonia and Latvia are in NATO. They border Russia. NATO are already on Russia's doorstep, are they not?
Damn autocorrect. I meant to say 'a great bunch of lads.' ;)
It would be naive to think otherwise, IMO. Do you really think a rag tag group of hackers have managed to do what US Cyber Command and the 5 Eyes could not? I don't. It suits to have Anonymous take the credit though... it makes the whole thing more relatable and palatable to certain demographics. The world loves an underdog.
Similarly, this is why we are seeing lots of molotov cocktail making videos and not so much mention of Ukraine having the 22nd largest military in the world before this began. Since Russia is so obviously in the wrong here I'm not butthurt about it, but there is always an element of narrative control going on.
