I thought Azerbaijan would've sided with Russia but this is good news
Yeah maybe! I wouldn't either haha
Internally in Russia, yes. However banks typically hold their assets spread between multiple accounts. Accounts that will be with international custodians will almost certainly be blocked and subject to controls before any release.
More like they sold it. Although when fuel economy is measured in gallons to the mile I don't think a jerry can would be much use to a tank.
I think people are joining/volunteering still? I saw pictures of queues earlier and a figure of 8k who have gone across the border from Poland to Ukraine to join.
This is the real anti-war movement and the real face of Russia.
Thats what i wanted, and being the most powerful NATO member,US doesnt have a choice
Unlikely as they are Russian sympathisers and Anti NATO.
we need as many things to turn against Putin as possible and the more soldiers not returning is one of those things .
It sure is,and i am just waiting for a revolution or the military takes action in a coup
I'd have no doubt. I think Putins greatest threat is from within Russia. I don't believe everyone around him think the same as him. Everyone has a tipping point. How long, pr what needs to happen km unsure, but he's done damage to himself, in a big way. And the sanctions won't make him popular I think
Anti war protesters on Russian Streets and contract soldiers refusing to fight. Putin may just have ignited a flame of rebellion.
Russians backed Armenia in the latest round of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict v Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan was backed by Turkey (and are also a competing gas supplier to Europe via pipes to Turkey).
I am lost what your point is?! What do you mean the US doesn't have a choice?
Of course they do....a NATO backed country has not been invaded...they are doing what they can (serious financial and military aid, sanctions) without actually weighing in directly with soldiers, air support etc and as I showed Americans polled seem to agree with that stance currently.
Crazy explosions on CNN stream before they went on break, clouds getting illuminated. There was one that looked like there was a ball of fire just above ground for 3/4 seconds afterwards. Nutty.
My point is Biden have no control either in Europe or home in the US
And US doesnt have a choice if one of their European allies are being invaded.
And no they are obviously not doing enough when Ukraines President is crying for help every day
Did you miss the news about Azerbaijan vs Armenian recently
Alternative american crackpot based in kyivs take on russias invasion strategy, speed and tactics - could melt ones head as very pro russian/ anti west but interesting at the same time worth a watch if have time - poster essentially asserts russia aim to capture all ukraine, surround and capture ukraine army (not destroy) and not damage infrastructure as russians want to install a puppet government straight after - also asserts we better hope russians win war fast or ukraine will be totally destroyed akin to iraq with hundreds of thousands if not millions killed ... anyway food for thought from a different perspective ..
Read it again and get back to me🙄
It's incredible when you think of how much cross-party unity there was in the United States during the Cold War vs nowadays. Both Democrats and Republicans and basically anyone who wasn't a Communist agreed on the need to defend America's interests and to present a solid front against the Soviet Union abroad. Every President from Truman through to Bush Snr adhered to this. Kennedy famously telephoned Eisenhower for advice during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
I know the current conflict is more fuzzy and less ideological. But it's clear that party matters more than the country nowadays in America. The Republican party in particular seem to the most pathetic load of navel-gazers the world has ever seen. Even in the face of the greatest threat to American security since 9/11, the thought of Trump offering insight to Biden even on minor details (he has met with Putin after all) is laughable. It's a country in permanent election mode, and the rest of the world is just a distraction.
While not exactly one of my favorite nations, they recently did some invading themselves of Armenia, it's still good news.
You can preload all the maps you like, but that's not how satnav works, which is by the reception of highly synced atomic clock precission signals from multiple satellites and using those to work out the position on the map from the travel time of the signals vs the known position of the satellites. Jamming or stopping signals from the satellites means your phone or GPS receiver won't be able to show where on the map you are.
In other words, satnav does not rely on getting your location via mobile phone signals - they are just used to download a map, the positioning bit relies on being able to receive signals from satellites.
Most of the (initial) poor performance in WW2 was self-inflicted, and not a clever trick to lure enemies into attacking as was suggested earlier.
Also, there is clearly too much information available in this conflict, and much of it is just propaganda. While I can't pretend that I don't enjoy seeing reports of Russian setbacks, it might be a good idea to remember the war has been going on for less than 72 hours.
Reports of desertions and Russian soldiers refusing to fight shouldn't surprise anyone. Many Russians regard Ukrainians as their friends and brothers and are probably completely bewildered at the instructions from their superiors to fight and kill them.
Yes, dear Chechen leader is a Putin puppet
Ah man. Obviously haven't had time to listen to that but listened to the first few seconds of his anti-vax video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKF8eI9QbIA how the West is going to follow New Zealand and Australia into totalitarianism. And that the US will crush any dissent within it's own borders using drones and annihilate them and everything they have
What exactly is he meant to be controlling?!?
The US has a choice....they aren't even on the same continent...once again the be clear the country invaded isn't in NATO...the rest of Europe haven't provided any soldiers either in case you missed that...
I would say the US have provided more than their fair share of military and financial aid versus other countries so far.

This may have been posted already , and there's obviously a fair bit of spin in it ...
serious news regarding swift and russian central bank assets ... if this is correct there could be chaos in russia as people try to get their money from banks as rouble plunges early next week...:
this is rapidly turning into an economic war....
Russia has become a “global economic and financial pariah”, a senior US administration official told the Guardian’s diplomatic editor Julian Borger.
Speaking after western allies announced new financial measures against Russia, including the removal of some Russian banks from the Swift global payments network, the official said the measures were designed to target the Kremlin and individuals tied to the Russian government.
They said that all 10 of Russia’s largest financial institutions had now been subjected to sanctions – “holding nearly 80% of the Russian banking sector’s total assets”.
Russia has been reported to have $630bn in financial reserves stored abroad, in gold and cash, but the new sanctions would render that fund useless, the official said.
“You heard about fortress Russia, the war chest of $630bn of foreign reserves,” they said.
“It’s impressive, but it’s only impressive if Russia can use those reserves. And that means Russia has to be able to sell those reserves and buy rubles to support its currency. And so what we’re committing to do here is to disarm the central bank. And the way we can do that, for example, is by banning US, EU UK, persons from selling rubles to the Central Bank of Russia. That means very simply, the Russian Central Bank can’t support the ruble, full stop, and that means our sanctions will have much greater force.”
The US official said the list of Russia banks to be removed from Swift will ultimately be decided by the EU, but said the US would “work very closely” with European countries “to finalize that list”.
Because they aren't as good at playing poker as Putin is.
