People keep on pointing out that Russia has not yet deployed all their readied forces, and I'm not disagreeing with that, but even if they throw everything they have on standby at Ukraine, their war effort is already so deeply unpopular around the world, that doubling down only further prevents them from rehabbing their relationship with Western nations any time soon. It profoundly alters their diplomatic situation and if the sanctions continue, their economy is in serious trouble. Cooler heads than Putin have to know all of this.
