Russia uses jammers to cut out GPS signals including Glonass, but i presume they have something that doesnt affect their own navigation systems.
Russia forcing Lufthansa flights to turn around over Russian airspace 😬
It seems pretty clear China have no intention of getting involved...thankfully
Totally agree. We should help them rebuild and then accept them into the EU. While this whole invasion just shows why NATO membership is needed for Ukraine.
Looks like tonight's the night for Russia to have any chance to pull off of a quick siege of Kyiv. Given the Thermobaric TOS systems and the bigger artillery units have arrived.

Ah jaysus, I'm fukin sick of that poem being quoted on thread.
Well Russia said they had no intentions of invading Ukraine too
Many conspiracy theorists are in over-drive mode precisely for this reason!
Speaking of COVID-19, there does seem to be a legitimate reason to believe that Putin has some sort of physical vulnerability.
The extremes to which he goes to avoid other politicians (tests must be performed etc.), would suggest that a man who previously and proudly advertised himself as invincible with the tasks he took on, now cowers in the corner in fear of even the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
Now, of course this could be a coincidence, but there's a legitimate question to be asked about his isolation over the past 2-years; his physical health; and the risk he is willing to take on with an adventure to overtake a neighbouring population of 40 million people next door.
Big attacks in Kharkiv and Zaporzhia tonight. Kiev is telling everyone to seek Shelter. Looks like the Russians are throwing everything at it tonight.
That will be inconvienient for China. They will not be pleased.
Yeah....but the intelligence service especially the Americans were flagging it well in advance
This.... is not going fantastically well for Russia so far, which is great. I realise that we're most likely treated to a certain version of events, just as the Russian people would get another, but at the very least it's becoming hard to deny that Russia are suffering losses they probably didn't expect, and are having a hard enough time making headway. Whether they take Kiev or not, this is not the lightning invasion they would presumably prefer. Not only that, but sanctions upon Russia are getting worse by the day, and even Russia's so-called allies are side-stepping away while looking at the floor and whistling.
There can be few around the world outside of Russia and not of Russian extraction really rootin' for Putin, here, either. Anyone who likes an underdog story must find Ukraine's response to this invasion quite inspiring, while Putin just looks like some classical movie villain, plotting the downfall of the hero in cowardly seclusion, so that's the battle of hearts and minds pretty much lost for Russia as well.
It just seems pointless for Russia to carry on with this invasion much more. You can't subjugate a people like this. These actions will only turn the Ukrainians farther away from Russia.
The mask has well and truly fallen from Putin's stone face.
Could the mediocre performance of the Russian army be intentional? Maybe they think countries will underestimate them in future conflicts if they struggle in Ukraine. I hope not though! I hope they’re genuinely struggling
They will learn so much from this event that will help them in future plans. I expect they are grateful for this event and will sit back and see how it pans out.
need to start weening the west of china b4 it is too late...
Somebody posted earlier that military vehicle drivers (I'd imagine less experienced ones) in high pressure situations like ambushes, where taking the correct turn could mean the difference between life and death, tend to instinctively rely more on road signs than on whatever electronic guide.
Thats true, but that doesnt mean China wont get involved
It would be the perfect time for China to take Taiwan
So true. Between the news from Ukraine and Russia, the other stuff that is going on, the news that I'm getting from home that Germany is getting ready to mobilise, it seems like we're living in a movie. I'm just not sure whether it'll be Thirteen Days or The Day After...
I've heard almost nothing from Biden (or even European leaders) in the last day or two since things escalated.
Shocking display of weakness.
Errrr that is genuinely a bonkers theory. It's nonsensical honestly.
Things are extremely delicate and complicated.
this could embolden china to attack russias east in the future .. exactly as russias poor performance against finland encouraged hitler to attack russia before...
German media reporting all EU airspace could be closed to Russia.
Yeah I was 90% sure it was just Putin brinksmanship, despite all the intelligence reports
It just seems pointless for Russia to carry on with this invasion much more.
This.
But not only that. It was pointless for Russia to engage in this adventure in the first place.
It's pointless for them to continue it.
They cannot win.
Even if they secured Kiev, the insurgency would last years. Just take a look at how Ukrainians are willing to defend their homeland.
Perhaps deluded, ugly Putin should consider the very real fact that mother Ukraine is just as willing to defend herself as mother Russia would be, if attacked in the same way.
It's an almost impossible task at this stage. It'd require a massive change on how we live our lives now. People really have no appreciation for how integral they are, and simple think it's just a production house with cheap Labour.
Maybe more like send in the B team first in dispenable older equipment to soften up Ukraine, use up their defensive weapons, sow chaos and then send in the elite forces.
That would be a Russian thing to do... cannon fodder.
No. Nobody's going to throw away people and money like that.
It's a combination of an under-trained force, apparently completely ignoring its own doctrine, being incompetently led, with a lack of motivation. I just don't think the heart is in it for most of the Russian forces, most of whom probably know Ukrainians personally.
Do you honestly think they’re kicking back watching it all play out. They’ve gone quiet for a reason.
