What's the purpose of these from Russia? Are they just hoping to hit Ukrainian army? Or try clear out the area to move forward?
The big mistake by Putin in all of this is his miscalculation of the effect of social media and the contrasting image of the calm Zelensky in the streets of Kiev along with his ministers while the demented and isolated Putin is couped up in the Kremlin with a 15m table between him and everyone else. Whatever happens in Ukraine that image will endure, the key to all this is to keep the Ukranian government operating. NATO need to do alot more and militarily without directly engaging with russian army.
Putin can't close off Ukraine from the outside world like the Soviets did with Eastern europe, back then people sort of forgot about Eastern europe, Putin thinks he can get that back, he can't. Everyone including Russians talking about the whole thing being a mad nineteenth century fantasy from Putin and nobody else.
Can the Russian army be got away from Putin and get a halt caused to the whole thing, even Russian soldiers are now doubting this whole escapade and will not want to die in Ukraine to fulfill Putin's mad fantasies. The fact that the outside world sees it for exactly what it is means that Putin will never again be able to travel the world as the quintessential strongman . The fact that Putin is not even harking back to the Soviet era but to Zsarist Russia is the most idiotic thing of all. How will his demonisation of Lenin and the bolsheviks be regarded in China afterall Communism is still the core ideology behind China and they had those infamous red banners with Lenin , Marx and Mao Tse Tung. That won't be taken well in Beijing

There are reports that the russian troops are actually clueless as to why they are there, from training exercises to not actually being told where they are going.

They don't have a lot of precision munitions. They are expensive and it looks like the Russian military shopped in the bargain basement of the Regional powers munitions supermarket.
What surprises me even more is here is a country that produces oil and a large number of their armour and trucks have run out of fuel. Surely they should be able to supply that. I do know the Ukrainian military did take out a number of logistics convoys but the Russians should have factored that in. It looks like they were completely incompetent and totally under-resourced. Have the military budgets been siphoned off like the revenues from the natural resources have been.
Is there a reason all Russian passport holders haven't been banned from travelling, all Russian ambassadors in countries sympathetic to Ukraine expelled and any Russian companies working outside of Russia put under immediate sanctions and ordered to pack up and go home as long as Russia acts the bully, we're proving to be a very soft touch while an invasion of Europe is happening on live television, what's happen when he gets as far as Poland, sit back and let them roll into Warsaw, we have some bunch of gutless wonders looking after our freedom

Armoured vehicles are targets which guzzle fuel. If you are in one you want to keep moving so that you aren't easy to target but by moving you burn all your fuel within a few hours.
