Their whole set up is based on smoke and mirrors. They look big and hard carpet bombing civilians in Syria but put them into a war situation with a determined and professional military and they are shown up for what they are. Where are their "Wunderwaffen", no sign of T14 tanks the bulk are T72's and T80's and a lot are being ripped apart by shoulder launched munitions. The Russian peoples leadership and upper military leaders are nothing more than bullsh!t artists. They have conned their people into believing they are a military superpower, from what we are seeing they aren't even a regional one. If they didn't have nukes they'd be buggered.
Pewtin probably sending inexperienced troops and old hardware in for the initial salvos, knowing they will take heavy casualties. Those who survive will be more battle hardened.
He will lose patience if it takes too long to capture Kyiv, he will just nuke the place without removing his own forces first. Life is cheap for those USSR/China type states.
It's actually a bit of a surprise that mods/mod accounts don't go rogue more often.

I don't think you can take a full reading about Russia's army from this invasion. Russia does not want to obliterate Ukraine.
At the end of the day any form of warfare would have been a combined ops with airforce bombings being at the tip of the spear.
You can see that the air force is nowhere near as prominent as it would be in a much larger war.
I think they just underrated the Ukraine ground defence in terms of holding out against the Conscripts and the older pieces of Soviet equipment.
The Second wave seems to be bringing out the T-72's, mobile artillery pieces and the Thermobaric launch platforms. Which is a much more accurate reflection of Russia's capabilities.

Okay I went and looked for the USSR flags in the bog side and sweet Jesus what is wrong with some people.
Don't know about the new system but on the old version when I modded here it would have been a soft delete so it should be very easy for an admin to restore it with one click. I feel sorry for the poor bot all their work clicking through 250+ pages of posts deleting one post at a time will be wasted. Its pathetic like the Russian Armed forces.

Speaking of social media, I find it more than a little surprising that Russia still hasn't moved to take out cell phone infrastructure in Ukraine. As it stands, it looks like any Russian movement ends up on Twitter or similar platforms as soon as it happens and apparently, the Ukrainian military has set up a chatbot that people can message with their photos and videos. This type of battlefield surveillance is a treasure trove for any force that can use it and you'd think Russia would do something about the fact that its solders can't take a wee without Ukraine being able to identify the brand of vodka that was drunk to cause it...
