I can't keep doom scrolling. I hope Zelenskyy and the people of Kyiv make it through tonight.
Yeah there is fierce heavy fighting going on acrthe western part of the city. Reports at a thermal plant, metro station and even the city’s zoo. But initial commentary from the city is that the Ukrainian forces are fighting stubbornly. Hopefully the Russians don’t establish a breach-head, at least for tonight.
Terrible but they crossed a line with all the covid stuff.
Is that the correct name? Berezhestayskaya
Google turns up nothing but 5 results, all pointing to the same video.
I'm just trying to see on the map where it is in Kyiv.
If they attacked innocent people in the metro station then Putin needs killing asap, hopefully someone can take it upon themselves to assassinate him
Russian state terror
Folks, we will be waking up to a lot of destruction tomorrow morning. There’s very heavy fighting going on in western Kyiv.
He's a conductor, he doesn't drive a tank.
Typical stuff from you Mike and a total disgrace.

It's completely disgraceful - Gloves Off
It's spelled Beresteiska and apparently it's listed as an emergency shelter, videos like that make me pray they are fake.
Location
Are all the boards saddos who fought in the war against the microbes now going to just bully any Russian person they can find?
You never learn lads.
What?
Put down the vodka.
A week from now Guerilla Warfare - they will win it through sneak attacks
Very close to the zoo, where in the replies to the tweet mentioned it looked like a weapons cache had exploded.
you must be a re-reg putinbot
Cheerleader for the possibly death of 200 airborne soldiers 1000 kms away.
Yay, to the keyboard warrior.
I don't see the point of this 'holding ground' by the Ukranians, brave and all as it is. We all know the Russians are going to seize and hold the 'territory' sooner or later because of their overwhelming advantage in men and machinery. If there is to be an effective fightback, it will be in the form of hit and run guerilla warfare. So these poor lads trying to hold 'strategic sites' are ultimately dying to no purpose.
they are not real soldiers anyway, they are the other
I agree there comes a point where you flee to fight another day. But when do you choose that? Maybe those on the front line would be best to know when that is.
Or maybe once the first bomb/missile lands you flee and let them storm the capital in a day?
has to be done this way until occupation is complete, then the insurgence begins
I wonder how many here will go to fight for Ukraine!
I wouldn't be so sure. Surely an army of 150,000 is far too small to intimidate a population of 44 million, but Putin seems to think that will not be an insurmountable problem. Perhaps because he doesn't intend to hold the entirety of the country though violence alone.
It is hard to predict what Ukraine will survive this war to be governed by Russian puppets. Putin has not risked such a desperate course of action to settle for a return to the situation of 2013 or a mere implementation of the Minsk agreements. I don't place a lot of hope in the claims that Russia is willing to negotiate with Ukraine on the basis they become a "neutral" state. That offer is off the table I would think and any pretence otherwise by Russia is just to distract and divide Ukrainian opposition. I would guess that in the next few days or weeks we will see a lot of eastern and southern Ukraine establish "independent" Russian republics which either align themselves with Russia or are annexed to it outright like Crimea. For Putin, the Russian Federation has to maintain an open door policy. Perhaps the west and north of Ukraine will survive as a puppet state but even if it is not entirely controlled from Moscow it will be entirely chastened by the experience of this war.
It was utter madness for Ukraine to think it could take a hostile attitude to Russia. It was criminally reckless for the US, NATO and the EU to encourage Ukraine to take this course whilst always understanding they would never fight for Ukraine. Unfortunately it is the ordinary Ukrainians paying the price, not the "masters of the universe" in the US.
if ryanair had flights still, id be over in a heartbeat
Jesus lad Coppers is still open, would ya not feel better chasing a young one rather than trying to feel superior on the internet to someone you've never met in the wee hours of Saturday morning?
Great detective skills.
I registered in Feb 2020, have over 4,000 posts and am pro-Ukrainian.
A conductor of an orchestra shouldn't be asked to make a political statement under duress then fired.
I can see now anything but the absolute stupidest war hysteria will be called "Putinbot-ism".
Clearly this will be as glorious a chapter of Irish history as the war against the microbes.
All the same people can give free reign to all their worst instincts after a 2-second breather. Yippee.
