I think the point is that this was expected to be a beat down and it isn't. Make no mistake that Russia will win if it stays 1 vs 1. That is not in question. However taking hefty losses makes Russia look weak. Certainly the Ukrainians are well prepped and supplied but Russia was expecting an easier time of it through manpower.
The longer it drags out the more aid flows into the Ukraine while Russia essentially had its forces there and ready from the beginning which will make the Russian army look weaker and weaker.

India gets a lot of their arms from Russia, they have made some big deals recently including the S-400 which they are in the midst of receiving. They feel the need for arms due to the threat posed by China. In the past couple of years there has been a number of skirmishes along the border.
It's hard enough to start a large 6 cylinder diesel engine in the cold in Ireland. It's probably impossible to start in Ukraine and that's before you add in people shooting at you.

Yes it is horrific, in fact its beyond horrific, and can all be blamed on Putin. Imagine what these troops could do once they hit the ground.... the fact that they are flying in means that they are some kind of air borne units. Shock troops if you like, and not your usual unfortunate conscripts.

Aside from that, once again, Ukraine absolutely weren't going to join NATO while the frozen conflict in the East was still there. That's all Putin needed to do to guarantee Ukraine not joining NATO. So stop with the bullshit.
And it's been widely reported and mentioned on here that NATO were (and will) supplying Ukraine with weapons. For defence. I mean seriously like, if someone thinks the water level at the river down the road looks a bit high and they throw some sandbags out but get flooded anyway will you be there telling them they brought it on themselves by preparing for the worst?

Those are extremely expensive bits of kit. Why would they use them now when they have obsolete planes and choppers and tanks that have already been bought and paid for
Of course it's horrific to think that they're sacrificing the pilots and crew of these vehicles, but if i was planning an invasion, I would send in the pawns first, to clear out air defenses and then send in the advanced weapons to secure the battlefield
I think the more aid that is announced for the Ukraine will incite Putin to declare all those pledging money/aid/weapons to be conducting acts of war against Russian forces...

The biggest danger to the Russian dictator and his junta isn't NATO it's the ordinary Russians realising they are being conned and defrauded by their so called leadership.
True, but also, if I was a madman dictator, this be a perfect testing ground for this new equipment before I invest many more billions into it. Bit like what some powers did during the Spanish Civil War.
