I did not say a European military is a treat to the US. I said a European military faced with no prospect of support from the US and thus obliged to spend 2.5% of European GDP would exceed the capabilities of the US miulitary. Right now Europe as a whole spends closer to 1%. 2.5% would take it beyond the US military.
In addition you say that the European military is now not a treat to the Russian military. That is untrue, the NATO members in the EU far exceed the military capibilities of Russia right now, a Russian attack on European NATO would be easily repulsed by European NATO members without US assistance, the issue is it would not be confined to conventional warfare and once the leopard tanks tanks of European armies make mincemeat of the Russian assaults led by 1970s equipment the russians would simply throw nuclear warheads at the victorious European NATO armies.

To kill Zelensky would be a massive error for the Russians. He is a recognisable face worldwide and has sat with and shook the hand of most leaders in Europe and around the world.
