That's a very serious concern alright. That if he feels the jig is up for him and his either from external or internal sources that he'll push the big red button. If Hitler in his last days in the bunker had the same button he would almost certainly have pressed it. He stated he wanted to see Germany razed to the ground for letting him and the 'German people' down. Now one other lesson could be taken from that situation; namely his generals and others below him almost to a man ignored any scorched earth policies he ordered. One example was the guy in charge of Paris. He was directly ordered to try to burn it to the ground and he didn't and none of his men objected to that. If putin gave the end of the world order to his submarine commanders and mobile ICBM commanders I can see a large majority ignoring it.
The other aspect is how actually viable is his nuclear arsenal? And how viable are the other nuclear powers arsenals and anti missile systems? That he straight out hinted/threatened their use is very fcuking scary.

To kill Zelensky would be a massive error for the Russians. He is a recognisable face worldwide and has sat with and shook the hand of most leaders in Europe and around the world.
