In all fairness, there is tremendous pressure on him to toe the party line. He may have family in Russia and they could be imprisoned if he says the wrong thing. I feel sorry for him.
No doubt but the reality is if you push Russia too far you risk potentially massive escalating way beyond Ukraine. It's a balance. Hit them just hard enough to get them to stop the invasion and go home.
You just can't help yourself. All posters are idiots, except yourself of course.
I lost count of the eye rolls.
We do need a european army that is very clear. But we as a people do not know war and until europe gets deeper into this and its at our door it will be resisted
Another thing from the last few days is that there's been a good reminder of how nutty much of the left is. Usually they just seem like harmless eejits but we're seeing how useless they would be in any kind of a crisis and how they can't change their mind on something no matter how the evidence is stacked up. Bit like
He's not going to stop unless he's put down
In what way?Gas can be replaced and taken from others?
I never said they have any right nor did i shed any tears at the russian soldiers lying on the ground after the ambush....I was giving some more detail to the discussion about the car being hit on purpose or not!!
Nordstream 2 is on hold. I suspect the Germans will proceed with that when things calm down.
I don't know if you're being serious here. Russia is a sh*tehole. It's got a GDP the size of Spain's. Remember the PIGS acronym? Putin has sacrificed their economy for absolutely nothing. He was scared of NATO and his actions have now provided the biggest justification for its existence since the Cold War. Sanction them with literally everything possible is my opinion and boot them c*nts out of every possible international body.
Nordstream 2 is to increase gas transfer to Europe.
Original Nordstream and another few are still running. Cut them off and Europe runs out of gas quicksharp.
You know as well as I do that won't happen (unfortunately). The west isn't going to come to such close quarters with a nuclear power. That's why, frankly, Ukraine is fighting on it's own.
Agreed plus maybe ask Santa for radar?
I don't not a bit. He got this cosy job by being one of Putin's cronies.
F#ck him. I hope he is kicked out of the country.
We should stay out of this
I would advise all to watch Winter on Fire on Netflix, the documentary on the Maidan siege.
If you've seen it you will know they will not surrender Kiev. Russia will have to flatten it to take it.
I really don't want to derail the thread but I f*cking despise the British left. You have the likes of Stop the War w*nking themselves off about how awful Britain is while being free to wail and wail about how awful Britain is. They recycle the same old spiel about how the working man needs Socialism but apparently, the Ukranian working man can go f**k himself. I now regret voting for these cretins here in 2019.
If that is the case, then don't go on RTE spreading the bullshít. Just refuse to do the interview. Don't release the bullshít statement he released and put on twitter. Just toe the line when directly asked about it to keep your family safe.
Channel 4 interviewing people in train station in Poland. Some are going the other way to Ukraine to fight.
The people of Poland seem to be doing what they can to help people.
Norway,Algeria,UK,Netherlands and US delivers gas to europe,Quatar is another option.
Its just a matter of increasing deliveries from these countries and more storage for LNG tankers
A basket case with a massive nuclear arsenal. We don't really have a choice in regards to Russia itself. Sanction them as much as needed to get them out of Ukraine would be my opinion and maintain those sanctions thereafter.
I don't see an appetite for WW3 in the west which is what it would be if they get cornered. That's just the reality of the situation unfortunately.
I hate to say it, but long before any of this happened I raised an eyebrow when Mick McCarthy went over there...
I guess he has to show up if invited. He really is in a difficult position as all Russian ambassadors are. If he refuses to show up when asked that would look like he is not doing his job. More trouble with the Kremlin...it's not easy.
Ah yeah, along with our own gobshites. And this isn't just "the left", but this is one case where their nonsense is clearer.
It's a good time to take stock. If someone can't be on the right side of the current events then how in the **** could you trust them to do anything?
Not sure that's how it works. I read an article that Germany for example has enough of a stockpile in its own country to last til this winter.
Putin already shat all over the Russian medical staff in the pandemic. He lost medics in droves. Not so clever now, Putin.
I saw putin on tv asking the Ukraine military to topple their government. Surely that is the message that our European leaders should be drumming into the Russian military., topple that madman putin.
We'll see I suppose. If irc earlier in thread, you predicted Germany would do nothing at all, and try to just carry on business as usual if there was an invasion.
If depressing stuff (often posted/highlighted by you) about how complete severing of ties with Russia could affect Germany & also the rest of us + leverage Russia holds in return when that is done is correct, maybe they will have needed time to get people ready for the pain that is coming + clearly see it is necessary.
As a former FG voter I have No interest in Richmonds and his virtue bandwagoning thanks
