As horrific as that crash was, don't be too quick to pin it down to sheer bloody mindedness and blood lust by the Russian drivers. ( and maybe it was just that too !! ) But in Grozny, I remember seeing many such incidents. Tanks, APC's etc, driven into the walls of houses, demolishing them ( and injuring the occupants ) really bad road traffic accidents in the city and the countryside. Young inexperienced drivers, terrified out of their wit's and out of their tree's on vodka. and then they lose control.

They also regularly drive medical and other humanitarian aid to Ukraine ...
I sincerely the families can be protected and given safe haven here ,

It's an unrealistic ask because it risks a broad nuclear conflict.
If Russia even considered invading Ireland that means that Europe and the UK is already destroyed so there is no amount of money we could spend to defend ourselves in that scenario.

Yeah saw speculation its for when they move in to Ukraine due to the low vaccination rates there although Russia are hardly top of the list in that regard either.
The Finnish leader just said the Russian invasion of Ukraine will change the debate in her country about Finland joining NATO. They may not be facing immediate threat but you have to think the contrast between what is happening to Ukraine as opposed to the Baltic nations will lead to Finland and maybe also Sweden joining NATO.

As you piont out we are between the UK and US, so who ever wanted to invade us, to get a better strategic position against nato would have to go past or around one of the major nato powers first.
There is no motive to attack us. If we joined nato then there might be a motive for us to get attacked should nato get in a world war

I enjoy running the Tories down more than most but it does very much look like the UK has done everything possible to help the Ukranian army via supplying weapons and training. Donations to the Tories are troubling but that's perhaps beyond the scope of the thread.
Yeah Tories are doing every legal thing they can to arm the Ukrainian forces, and while they will deny it, I'd say there are some advisors there in unofficial form to help launch the good stuff at the Russians.
